Drew Jackson seemed to have it all. He has a family who loves and supports him, a tight circle of friends, and is a rising star with the Milwaukee Mavericks. Then, it all begins to unravel. Cam, the only man he’s ever loved, falls head over heels for Drew’s teammate. He makes a critical mistake in the playoffs that he’s not sure he’ll be able to recover from. And then, his world really crashes around him…

Eric Sapp may no longer play for the Mavericks, but he’s still one of the guys. No one could have imagined how much his life would change when he agreed to help his former teammates mourn the end of their run for the pennant. After stopping a brutal attack, Eric is forced to face the feelings that’ve been growing for his roommate, Drew. That’d be much easier if Drew wasn’t hell-bent on pushing everyone away as he recovers.

Neither of them were counting on Bryce Shaw. He and Drew enjoyed the one night they spent together, but knew it was unlikely they’d be anything more since they lived in different parts of the country. After Bryce is relocated to help a failing LGBT homeless outreach, he wants to explore something more with the Mavericks’ short stop.

As much as Eric wishes he could be the one to help his friend, he knows Bryce holds the key to Drew’s recovery. Will pushing the two back together be the biggest mistake of his life or will they all learn there is strength in numbers?

You know the feeling you get on Christmas morning!   The excitement, anticipation and all out good feeling that morning brings. Well – that right there is exactly how Triple Play made me feel.   It was like taking a package from under the tree and slowly unwrapping all of the yumminess, getting giddy from what you were seeing and loving all of the juicy scenes.

I generally don’t read blurbs. The main reason is I like to be surprised. I don’t want the blurb to give me too much of the story so after the first few chapters of Triple Play I immediately thought the story would be a love triangle. I prefer to stay away from those as they are not my cup of tea…..NOW…..I really, really, really, really hate giving any spoilers away BUT there is no way around this one and if you read the blurb you already know that this little gem is a MENAGE. Yes you heard – a ménage.   I was so stupidly excited when I realized it was not a love triangle.   OK – well now that I feel horrible for telling you that I think it is only fair that we meet our fabulous TRIO….

Drew Jackson, rising star with the Milwaukee Mavericks, just had the worst day of his life and its not over yet. Unfortunately it only gets worse.

Eric Sapp, former Mavericks player & roommate to Drew, comes to the rescue of a man in need. After the traumatic event he realizes he is starting to have feelings for Drew.

Bryce Shaw (aka Sex On A Stick), is relocated back to Milwaukee to help a failing LGBT homeless outreach. He is best friends with Jason and an acquaintance of Drew.

Drew goes through a difficult time and needs Eric to help function.   What Drew didn’t realize was that he needs Bryce just as much.   Drew doesn’t want to give up whatever is going on between him and Eric as well as him & Bryce.   Will Eric feel as if he should step back and allow Bryce to go forward with Drew?   Will Bryce be forced to leave the only thing he has loved and hand over to another man?   Could three work instead of two?

Holy Bananas Sloan Johnson did me in and gave one hell of ride with these three delicious men.   I love ménages….like really love them, especially when they are done with such flawless writing.   The character development was superb.   I adored the fact that the previous characters from Wild Pitch & Curve Ball were popping up all over the place. Triple Play was fun, entertaining, heart breaking, and just an all around fantastic story. It had just the right amount of sexiness with some hot-panty-melting sex. Johnson had those pages on fire to the point I was blushing.   She did a sparkling job in making the ménage more than just sex – more than just a quick night of fun. She made it raw, real & so, so right!   FREAKING BRILLANT!!!!!!!!!!

I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a unbelievable story with one KICK A$$ characters.   If ménages are not your thing please give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.

Bryce, Eric, and Drew stole my heart. My heart broke when Drew was hurt, but I really liked that Eric stepped up to help. These three guys together was so good, once you got past the initial getting together part. There were a couple times in the beginning before they actually got together where I was frustrated with the situation. I loved Bryce’s take charge attitude that led up to the three of them getting together. Their interactions with each other and how they make the relationship work was very well done. They way they stood by each other, and stood up for each other was beautiful.

About Sloan Johnson

Sloan Johnson

Sloan Johnson is a big city girl trapped in a country girl’s life. While she longs for the hustle and bustle of New York City or Las Vegas, she hasn’t yet figured out how to sit on the deck with her morning coffee, watching the deer and wild turkeys in the fields while surrounded by concrete and glass.

When she was three, her parents received their first call from the principal asking them to pick her up from school. Apparently, if you aren’t enrolled, you can’t attend classes, even in Kindergarten. The next week, she was in preschool and started plotting her first story soon after.

Later in life, her parents needed to do something to help their socially awkward, uncoordinated child come out of her shell and figured there was no better place than a bar on Wednesday nights. It’s a good thing they did because this is where she found her love of reading and writing. Who needs socialization when you can sit alone in your bedroom with a good book?

Now, Sloan is a tattooed mom with a mohawk and two kids. She’s been kicked out of the PTA in two school districts and is no longer asked to help with fundraisers because she’s been known to lose herself with a good book and forget she has somewhere to be.

excerpt

Sebastian stepped out of the sticky bus. It was hot for that time of the year, and Germany was melting under a heat wave. Munich was no exception. The temperature was somewhere around 35°C and the air conditioning in the bus was either non-existent or not working. The fact that everyone and their mother seemed to have agreed to take this bus didn’t help to make it more bearable.Banner300x250

Sebastian took a deep breath, but it did nothing to cool him down. All he got was a lung full of heat, his sweat, and fumes. Fuck this shit. He could be at a bar right now, sipping a cold beer. But he wasn’t, thanks to that fucking judge.

He had to be here, the last place he wanted to be. Okay, a few meters more, then he reached the place. The sign was unmistakable: Rehabilitation Center. Fucking shit. That judge had had way too much fun sentencing him. Wasn’t there a law against such things? The urge to kick something, anything in his way, rose, but Sebastian grit his teeth. He was no sixteen-year-old anymore. Instead of kicking something, Sebastian peered into the windows. An empty desk sat near the entrance door. Nobody was there.

Sebastian took another deep breath, which did nothing to quell his anger, and slowly pushed open the door. He wouldn’t get his Community Service hours done by standing in front of the building. And if the judge had his way, Sebastian was going to be here quite a few hours. Two-hundred, to be precise. Fucking two-hundred hours of work in a rehab center. He should kill that judge.

Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Chris McHart, author of Small Steps.

Hi Chris, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Tell us a little about yourself, your background, and your current book.

  • Is there a character in your books that you can’t stand? (Antagonist for example) And what makes them someone you don’t like?

I have to think about it. No, not really. I don’t like bigoted people.

  • Are there misconceptions people have about your genre?

A lot. Romance is ‘filthy’, something to be ashamed of. It’s not. It’s about love. J

  • Is there message in your novel that you hope readers grasp?

Yeah. You can find love even against all odds.

  • How has your writing evolved since your first book? (If this is your first book, how do you hope it evolves?)

I think my writing got stronger, since I have worked with different editors since then. My plots also gained depth. (I hope)

  • One food you don’t care if you never eat it again.

Liver. Brrrr.

Chance at Life Trilogy by Havan Fellows : Reviews Book 1 and 2

October 4, 2015 by Denise

chancesynopsis

chance at trustChance at Trust:

The strength to walk away from an abusive long-term relationship proves Em is a survivor. But surviving isn’t necessarily living, and Em has created a life on a plateau of his own making, not even entertaining the idea of a new boyfriend. When he shows interest in a very sexy barista, his best friend sees a chance to open Em’s eyes to the possibilities in life.

Penn couldn’t help his double and triple take when the sexy man walked into his mother’s coffee shop. Priding himself on always remaining calm and collected in all situations, Penn is surprised by the strength of his attraction for this stranger. When the stranger’s loud-mouthed friend proposes a way for Penn to see Em again, he takes it.

While Em comes with baggage—his eyes tell a story of pain and distrust—Penn isn’t one to shy away from a challenge, especially when his heart is so quickly getting tied up in the equation, and he’s prepared to break through Em’s walls and give him a chance to trust.

This was my first read by Haven Fellows.   I try to stay away from short reads as I feel there is no way they could give a decent story with only 60 or so pages.   I would like to apologize for my close minded self…..I really enjoyed “Chance of Trust” even though it was a quick read.

Here is who we have for our viewing pleasure…..

Em (short for Emery) –  shy, sexy and dealing with a nasty breakup for last 2yrs.

Penn – funny & gorgeous business man who occasionally steps in as sexy barista.

Joss – Obnoxious, yet funny as hell best friend to Em.

The beginning starts out with Em & Joss, going to into a coffee shop, having a friendly disagreement.    They catch the eyes (and ears) of the patrons, along with one-sexy barista.    Penn overhears the conversation and is immediately drawn to Em.  Em shakes the feelings he gets once he gets a look at Penn and passes it off as being celibate for the last 2 years.    Joss sees the reaction they have to each other and decides to be a sneaky SOB and make a plan of attack on how Penn can get Em on a date.   Joss is hysterical and the way he gets Em to agree is comical.

I really enjoyed get front row seats as Em & Penn go on the dreaded first date.  Em cannot fathom why someone like Penn would want him – feeling as if he would be better off with someone like Joss.   Penn knows what he wants and is quickly falling for Em, but Em is too afraid to let go of the past.   All Penn ask is for Em to trust him…… and with that…… the book ends.    Knowing this is book 1 in a trilogy made it ok to end that way, but I was just getting into it (insert sad face here) *******runs away to start book 2*****

If you are looking for a quick read, that has a good plot and some wonderful characters than I would recommend Chance of Trust, but be prepared to want to start book 2 immediately.

YAY…..Book 2 of the Chance at Life Trilogy….AND of course I immediately starting reading this after finishing book 1.     Chance at Love starts out with Em & Penn being in a relationship since book 1 ended.   I was literally laughing out load with the way Em rambles – I think it is adorable and sweet.   Penn is the ever so serious and fun loving boyfriend, but he is starting to question how he should speak to Em.  (side note: Whoever said verbal abuse is not abuse is completely wrong.  Penn has to deal with how to interact with Em on a daily basis just so he doesn’t set Em back to the horrible time in his life)   The title speaks for itself and we follow Em & Penn as they navigate through the world to try and find what has been missing from both their lives. LOVE!

Their story is sweet and new, but add in Em’s horrible excuse for parents and a deceased great-uncle and things get very interesting.…..NO….I am not giving away a darn thing – YOU need to read it for yourself, but I promise you will be covering your mouth from shock and you will love Em & Penn even more.

This is not standalone book so make sure you read Chance at Trust first!   Again, I will reiterate that this is a quick read, but so worth it.   I am giddy with excitement to read book 3 and hope we do not have to wait long!

denise review

I have no idea why I haven’t read every single one of Cardeno C’s books back to back. I have loved every single thing of hers that I have read. And Walk With Me was no exception. It is the last in the Home Story collection, but the first one I have actually delved into.

I listened to this one, almost in one sitting (which is rare for me) because I laughed so much through it. The things that Seth has to deal with as a rabbi are so ridiculous, yet so true! The scene from the first wedding where Seth and Eli meet up, I’ve seen video of that, it actually happened!

These two “officially” meet when Eli is just too young for Seth, understandably so. So, since Eli could do nothing else but love Seth from afar, they slowly became friends, years of working through all their trials and tribulations, they were able to connect romantically. Until they made a mess of it again. 🙂 But as all CC books, there is a happy ending, and this one made me cry!

With audio books, the narration is so key, and Alexander Collins did a marvelous job with this book. His voice was rich, and varied, and he was able to give inflections to both characters very well. It really helped draw me even further into a story, that I was excited to listen to either way.

Both the story aspects, as well as the narration aspects were perfect for me. I laughed, I cried, and I enjoyed the narration. Couldn’t have enjoyed this book more.

Cardeno C. – CC to friends – is a hopeless romantic who wants to add a lot of happiness and a few “awwws” into a reader’s day. Writing is a nice break from real life as a corporate type and volunteer work with gay rights organizations. Cardeno’s stories range from sweet to intense, contemporary to paranormal, long to short, but they always include strong relationships and walks into the happily-ever- after sunset.

Cardeno’s Home, Family, and Mates series have received awards from Love Romances and More Golden Roses, Rainbow Awards, the Goodreads M/M Romance Group, and various reviewers. But even more special to CC are heartfelt reactions from readers, like, “You bring joy and love and make it part of the every day.”

Not particularly social, twenty-two-year-old Tanner keeps to himself and enjoys his simple life, but he longs for someone to call his own. In his most secret fantasy, that someone is sexy Steve Faus. But Steve is his friend’s father and mentor’s widower and therefore off-limits.

Eighteen months after losing his partner, the one thing Steve lacks is someone to share his life. If Steve is honest with himself, that someone is the young man he has known and cared about for years. Steve and Tanner want one another, all they need is a little push in the right direction to make both their dreams come true.

paula review

For a heartwarming read you can’t go wrong with this story. Tanner has had a crush on his friend Mike’s dad, Steve, for years. Tanner’s inner monologue whenever he is around Steve and trying to control his reactions was hilarious. I really enjoyed the way Steve was with Tanner and how he handled Tanner’s cluelessness. I liked the deveopment of the relationship and how everything built in the story. The whole story flowed really well. This book is perfect for those times when you just need a feel good love story.

Thomas Elkin Series by N.R. Walker : Series Review

Elements of Retrofit (Thomas Elkin Book 1)

michelle review

Apparently I havelements of retrofite been way behind on reading some fantastic books! After several recommendations to read this series I figured I have a go at it. Dear God – why did I wait so long? I have read a few of N.R. Walkers books and absolutely loved them so of course this wasn’t any different. The one thing I will say is this was my first May/December read (hangs head in shame). I was always skeptical in reading books of any genre with the big age gap. I was always afraid that the younger MC would come off as childish or annoying and the older MC wouldn’t appeal to me. I must say, I was completely wrong in every stereotype I had of this subgenre.

Tom was sexy & serious. Cooper (also very sexy) was fun & ambitious. The constant banter between the two was witty & entertaining. Walker did an excellent job in creating such likeable characters you couldn’t help but fall in love with them. Coop was the light that Tom needed to let go and really enjoy life. I was thrilled to see that Walker made Tom doubt his actions. To be afraid of what consequences would happen for being involved with someone very young. How she handled the situations is what great writers are made of.

I am soooo excited that I took the plunge and read my first May/December Romance. I am diving into book 2 now so I’ll let you know how it goes

Clarity of Lines (Thomas Elkin Book 2)michelle review

Have I said clarity of lineshow much I heart Tom & Coop?      Clarity of Lines picks up where book 1 ended.   Obviously I am thrilled that their story continues.   Walker does a phenomenal job in making us love Tom & Coop so much more than before.   They are starting to come out as a couple and due to the obvious age gap there are those who are not too happy about it.

Walker flawlessly wrote a story that is realistic. I think bypassing this phase of the relationship would have made the book feel unreal. Everyone struggles with family/friends accepting each others partners, but when there is a 20+ yr age gap I would expect it to not be hearts & flowers.   My heart just about broke for Coop and how his family was against them but once again Walker delivered and eventually everyone came to an understanding.

I could read them banter back forth for ever. The way Tom just doesn’t get why Cooper will not move in with him and how Cooper makes Tom work for it……freaking genius.

Heading off to read book 3 – Can’t wait to see what shenanigans they will get into.

Sense of Place (Thomas Elkin Book 3)michelle review

WOW……I love this seriesense of places, and for some, wish they would continue forever.   Tom & Cooper hold a special place in my heart.   Sense of Place is the final installment of the Thomas Elkins Series.   Walker made sure that we would remember Tom & Cooper for many, many years. I am sure they will be at the top of everyone’s Book Boyfriend List for a very long time.

Both Tom & Cooper are having issues at work but for very different reasons.   Tom is having issues with a homophobic co-worker and Cooper is working with a rich brat who gets whatever he wants – AND he wants Cooper. Luckily Cooper is madly & completely in love with Tom, but Tom has doubts. Is he good enough for Cooper? Why would Coop want him when he can have a man the same age?    I was wishing upon a star that Tom would knock said rich boy’s lights out….lol….Maybe he did, but you’ll have to read it to find out!

If you are looking for a fun, sexy, realistic series with some fine A$$ MCs than you need to pick The Thomas Elkins Series. Definitely will be in my top favorite series.

Thank you NR Walker for giving such a fantastic series to lose ourselves in. I am forever a fan.

Whit by Cora RoseNew release and review!Whit by Cora Rose was my first book by her and I believe her first book. And I was really impressed. It's not easy to find a first book that I don't nit pick. But I really enjoyed it and she has been quite the prolific writer since.Caleb is the same story told from Whit's point of view. (Whit was Caleb's point of view)This is a good young adult (21ish) romance, opposites attract, gay for you, rich boy/poor boy...all the tropes. It was fun to read the story from Whit's POV. How he was really feeling about Caleb, about meeting family, about dealing with his own family, etc. And to hear how dirty his mind really was since he's so buttoned up (figuratively) to the world.I loved seeing Caleb's family just immediately accept him as part of the family. Jokes, hugs and all.If you enjoyed Whit, you'll enjoy Caleb. Same story, different perspectives.Do I need all of her books to have this companion piece? Nah. But I'm glad I revisited these guys.4 Pieces of Eye Candy ... See MoreSee Less

✨EXCERPT: CALEB by @coraroseauthor releasing April 24th! #PreOrderNowbooks2read.com/u/4En91A I shake my head, even though it is. I feel like my heart is being ripped from my body. The choice I have to make. Is it even a choice? “I…I overreacted. I’m…I’ll be fine,” I tell him, clutching at his hand and turning it to kiss that rough palm. Because I have to be fine with whatever I choose. And I don’t know if I can choose a future with him. Not after everything I’ve been through. My parents owe me for what they put me through. I’ve earned it with my blood and tears. Can I give it all up? For him? Caleb’s thumbs rub over my cheeks. “Okay.” He doesn’t sound convinced. Not that I expect him to. I’m a liar in the worst way. Selfish, thoughtless. He will never forgive me once this is over. My eyes water, and Caleb’s face crumples as he pulls me into his chest and holds me. I should never have let him be my roommate. I should have let him go about his life, never knowing me. It would have been simpler, better. But I was too greedy. Wanted him too much. And now look what I’ve done. I’m set to ruin him. I need to pull away before I do more damage. I need to end this. Soon, I tell myself. Just one more day. Let me have one more day.#mmromance #corarose The Author Agency ... See MoreSee Less

✨TEASER: LICKED by @charlienwrites releasing May 12th!#PreOrderNowmybook.to/lickitoneWhy you need to #ONECLICK this book…🍦Very Nerdy Meet Cute 🍦Low Angst🍦Slow Burn🍦Lingerie🍦First Times🍦Blowjobs in Beach Huts🍦Supportive & Nosy Friends🍦Sweetness & Spice🍦“Let Me Help You” 🍦MM RomanceLick It Like A Good BoyIt’s not often you meet gorgeous gothic men at wargaming tournaments. So, of course I tripped over my tongue instead of asking for his number. And despite my friends’ numerous offers to help find him online, we’re too busy opening Lick It!, our new ice cream shop, to spare time for my non-existent love life. But when Jonathan walks through the door on a sunny Friday afternoon, I can’t help but feel like it’s fate. He’s shy, sweet, and we immediately click. Jonathan doesn’t have much experience with relationships, so I’m determined to give him the attention he deserves, even if it means I’m pulled in two directions. With summer heating up and the shop getting hectic, spending time together is getting harder and harder. I don’t know how to balance the long hours and being a good boyfriend, but I know I have to figure it out. Because meeting Jonathan is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. ✨INFLUENCERS: Sign up to review this awesome release: bit.ly/lickedsignup#charlienovak #mmromance #kindleunlimited The Author Agency ...
