A Right To Know (County Durham Quad) by Jude Tresswell: Exclusive Author Interview and Excerpt

October 13, 2021 by Denise

“A son! A child! How? Why? Fuck! Phil! You can’t have! And does this sperm-child want to see you?”

Abandonment, trust, suspicion and compromise—integral parts of a mystery that involves industrial espionage, sperm donation and coming to terms with oneself and the truth.

Sperm donors know that now, under UK law, offspring who reach eighteen have the right to learn a donor’s identity and last known address, but Phil Roberts donated before the law was changed. He is shocked and dismayed to learn that he has a son called Lewis who intends to visit. Phil’s husband, Raith, is furious—and very scared.

What does Lewis Lennon really want? The man he has always called ‘dad’ is dead. Was his death suicide or was he murdered? Lewis wants Phil to find out. So, Phil, Raith, Mike and Ross, the County Durham Quad, plus their special friend, Nick, are embroiled in another investigation, but, as always, their relationships come under scrutiny too.

When did you write your first story and what was the inspiration for it?

I wrote a 60,000+ word fan fic in 2015.  It was based on a detective series by the British author, Reginald Hill. I was fascinated by one of the secondary characters, a gay detective. I wrote the story around him and gave him a choice: be loyal to his job or to his lover. I knew I couldn’t publish: I’d have been arrested for copyright infringements! I liked the idea, though, so I altered the characters totally and turned the plot on its head to suit them, not Reginald Hill’s original ones. My main guy was Mike Angells and the book became Badge of Loyalty, my first published novel.

Do you have a writing schedule or do you just write when you can find the time?

I’m definitely a morning person. In fact, I’m writing this at seven am. I write or do research most mornings. However, whenever thoughts come, no matter how rough they are, I’ll write them down and if that means getting out of bed at midnight, I’ll get out.

Briefly describe the writing process. Do you create an outline first?  Do you seek out inspirational pictures, videos or music? Do you just let the words flow and then go back and try and make some sense out it?

No outline. No inspirational music etc. The springboard is nearly always something on the news. Once I have something that interests me, the plot develops automatically. That’s because I know how my characters will react to events. We’re talking four polyamorous men, though, plus a fifth one somewhere on the sidelines.  So, although non-dialogue words come fairly easily, I do have to think at times about the words and language they use. Easy to distinguish Mike and Raith. Phil, too, because he’s always so worried and careful. Ross and Nick, though…similar backgrounds and education. Harder. I’ve become much better at giving each of the men a unique voice. I can definitely see an improvement over the series.

Where did the desire to write LGBT romance come from?

I appreciate that people can be aromantic (non-romantic).

I don’t write heavy romance, but I do write about care and concern and the willingness to sacrifice yourself for the people who mean most to you. To me, that’s love and it’s at the heart of the Quad’s polyamorous relationships. Everything represented by the Infinity Heart tattoos they have. (The infinity heart is also my logo.) Nick and Mike’s relationship is also based on love. Nick is asexual. Mike isn’t. Exploring and developing their relationship is very important to me because it’s a means of voicing some ace rep. Sex and love are different. You can be asexual and romantic. Like Nick, and like me too.

How much research do you do when writing a story and what are the best sources you’ve found for giving an authentic voice to your characters?

I certainly research the facts. Both Mike and Nick are cops who become ex-cops as the series develops, so, as I write mysteries where crime is prime, I have to ensure that the two of them sound knowledgeable.  Luckily, I enjoy reading factual stuff – reports etc. It probably shows in my writing, which is very stripped down and non-descriptive. I read a lot of UK government legal stuff on the internet. For example, for Polyamory on Trial, I researched laws and procedures relating to asylum applications. For A Share in a Secret, I read up on sentencing guidelines so’s I’d know what Raith could expect when he stood trial for assault. From then on, it’s anything that will make my characters sound as though they know what they’re talking about. Phil’s a surgeon. He often uses his professional knowledge. Ross is an art dealer. His background knowledge is crucial in Ace in the Picture. Searching the net on key words usually gives me the website of a useful specialist organisation. For example, searching on ’sperm donor’ for A Right To Know gave me the HFEA (Human Fertilization and Embryology Authority).

What’s harder, naming your characters, creating the title for your book or the cover design process?

I’ve posts on my polyallsorts blog about my covers and the characters’ names, but I’ve never written about the titles. That’s strange because the titles are the hardest in a way. I always want there to be more than one level of meaning. Badge of Loyalty – which badge? Mike’s professional police badge or the infinity heart tattoo that represents his personal relationships? Ace in the Picture – the picture, literally, is a forged painting, but the story introduces Nick, who is asexual, so he is the ace in the picture. A Share in a Secret – yes, Nick learns of an old secret’s contents, but will doing so bind him to the Quad irrevocably? Almost like having a share in a business or a property. And the new tale, A Right To Know – a right to know your parents, a right to know how your dad died, freedom of information… lots of ways of applying the title. The others, Polyamory on Trial, Body Parts and Mind Games, Fast Free and Flying…they all have more than one meaning. Definitely a future blog post there!

“How do you answer the question “Oh, you’re an author…what do you write?”

I used to be very coy about saying what I do. Not now. I say that I write gay mysteries. Responses vary, but the most common one is shock! Not necessarily shock horror (though I have been asked, ‘What do you do that for?’) More just surprise at not getting the expected response. I’m assuming that the expected response would be historical novels or mysteries without the ‘gay’ bit. Something less niche, anyway and more appropriate for a none-too-young, long-married-to-a-man lady!

Do you have any advice for all the aspiring writers out there?

For aspiring writers who don’t have many personal or professional contacts, yes, one thing anyway. I think you have to ask yourself why you are writing. If it’s for fame and fortune, then you are probably going to have to spend a lot of time and money achieving your goal. If you write mainly for your own enjoyment though, then you can budget your PR (if any) accordingly. It’s something to think about.

We’ve all got a little voyeurism in us right?  If you could be a fly on the wall during an intimate encounter between two characters, not your own, who would they be?

One of my favourite books is Jack Dickson’s Some Kind of Love. Similar genre to my own, but more brutal but, actually, no, I wouldn’t want to watch Jas and Stevie, the protagonists, doing anything in real life. I love reading about their relationship, but, watch them? No! Never. I’m asking myself why not. I haven’t come up with an answer. Don’t think it’s connected with being asexual, tho’ maybe it is: I like the fantasy but not the real thing. Ugh! No! Not even Jas and Stevie. (So I’m not voyeuristic.)

If I were snooping around your kitchen and looked in your refrigerator right now, what would I find?

I’ll go and look… Actually, very little. It’s been an odd couple of years with Corona Virus altering the way we do things and shopping is one of the changes. I wait until I’ve run out of everything before I venture to the supermarket. I’ll have to go soon. The only things in the fridge are eggs, cheese and yoghurt in the main part, a wrinkled pepper and some limp-looking celery in the veg compartment and some frozen raspberries and green veg in the freezer bit. I wish I were a more creative cook!

If you could trade places with one of your characters, who would it be and why?

Any of the Quad. That is, Mike or Ross or Raith or Phil. Not Nick. Reason – the first four like partnered sex. Like Nick, I’m ace. That’s not necessarily a problem, but there are times when I think that it would be good to experience the sorts of intense sexual experiences the Quad have. (Experiences that are rarely explicitly there on the page. The books have a low flame count.)  On further thought, I’d discount Phil too. He’s too much of a worrier. And on even further thought, I’d discount Raith. He’s a total one-off and much misunderstood. Not Mike either! He’s too emotionally intense. Sooner or later, he’s going to get into a spot that he can’t wriggle out of. That leaves Ross. Okay, Ross.

If you could sequester yourself for a week somewhere and just focus on your writing, where would you go and what would the environment be like?

Definitely Upper Weardale in County Durham, northeast England. It’s the setting of the stories. It’s remote. It’s harsh and bleak on the moors. It’s green and pastoral in the valleys. The only problem would be that internet connections are somewhat hit and miss. I might have to do everything on paper. If you would like to see what it looks like, I’ve a series of videos on YouTube where I read story extracts over drone and road footage shot by a local guy, Andy Ditchfield. There’s a shortened version of one of the vids on my Amazon page. If you like bikes, you might like it.

What’s the one thing, you can’t live without?

Mental one thing: fantasizing. Imagining stuff keeps me sane. It’s a great escape.

Physical one thing: English-style tea. Leaves not bag.

What internet site do you surf to the most?

YouTube. I don’t have a TV and nor do I have access to streaming but I look at a heck of a lot of YouTube. That’s especially so in the evenings when I’m too knackered to do much else. (Knackered = worn out/tired) I’ll watch anything to do with British industrial history, lots of stuff on geology… loads of things really. I subscribe to quite a few channels: Foxes Afloat is one.

When you got your very first manuscript acceptance letter, what was your initial reaction and who was the first person you told?

I’m self-published so it’s not something that has happened to me. However, I used to write occasionally for a national sports magazine and I can recall my delight when they accepted the first article I wrote. I phoned my husband, who was equally delighted. The thing was, they paid me!

Phil sat at the big kitchen table. His beard, neatly trimmed as always, failed to hide the lack of colour in his face. He looked shocked. He was holding a letter.

“You alright, Phil?” Mike was puzzled and concerned. “Bad news?”

“Not ‘bad’ exactly. Unexpected. Very.” He sighed. “I’ve an eighteen-year-old son. Sperm donation.”

Raith, Phil’s husband, dropped the glass of juice he was drinking. It rolled off the table and smashed as it hit the floor.

“A son! A child! How? Why? Fuck! Phil! You can’t have! And does this sperm-child want to see you?” Raith snatched the letter from Phil’s hands. “I can’t read this fucking stuff; it’s in joined-up. Why didn’t he type it?”

“He probably felt that this was more personal,” Mike suggested, retrieving the letter from the floor where Raith had slung it in disgust and shaking it free of orange juice.

“It’s fucking personal alright. You always said they couldn’t identify you, Phil. What the fuck’s gone wrong?”

“It looks as though we might find out,” said Ross, the fourth member of the quad. He was reading the letter over Mike’s shoulder. “He intends to visit. I think we need to talk.”

I’m a long-married, asexual, cis-gender female who lives in southeast England. I’m from northern England though, and the north is the setting of all my stories. You can see the setting on my Youtube channel. This isn’t a #ownvoice tale, though there’s certainly some ace-rep in it. Part of the motivation was my dismay at receiving, unasked for, the results of an ancestry test earlier this year. A different situation from Phil in the story, but I felt for him! A TW: parental suicide. Again, it’s something I have experience of. I hope I have dealt with it sensitively.

Rings of Lust (Rings Trilogy, Book 1) by Finn Dixon: Blog Tour, Exclusive Excerpt, and Giveaway

October 7, 2021 by Denise

Lucas
My parents had warned me a relationship would be a disaster for my gymnastics career, threatening to pull their financial support. So, I floated from one guy to the next for years.

And now, at the biggest event of my life, I found myself lonely and wanting more. And the one guy I wanted it with was Cam.

He went to the same college. He was on the same team. Just not my team.

Ugh…I had a crush on a straight guy.

Camden
”Maybe you just need to get laid?” my teammate had suggested.

Here I was, my first Olympics and all I could think about was sex. My first and only time was terrible, to say the least and I was hesitant to try again. Hell, I wasn’t even out of the closet either.

But the Olympic Village was pretty much a buffet of abs and glutes, and it was athletes only. Coach did tell us to loosen up. Maybe it was time to do just that…but like, naked and with another guy.

I can totally do this casual anonymous thing, right?

Rings of Lust is a full-length MM novel, the first in a trilogy, that has a cliffhanger ending and an eventual HEA, just not in this book. Be prepared for third wheel sarcasm, platypus babies, rippling Olympian muscle, and teenage sexual escapades just behind the scenes at the world’s biggest athletic event.

We were all done. Our events were over. And we were in third. One place away from not getting a medal. And it was crazy because we had done so well. Japan and Ukraine just did better today. We were waiting for China and Great Britain to finish. China was on rings, not their strongest event, and Great Britain was on floor. Something technical had delayed their routines. I was waiting for the numbers from the coaches. We all were. Luke was on my left side, Tyler was next to him. Graham was to my right, with Grant pacing in front of us. I could feel the seat vibrate as Luke’s knee bounced up and down. I was just as antsy. I looked up as Noah came over.

“We need China’s last guy to get below a 14.400, and Davies needs less than a 15.400 on floor.”

“For us to medal?” Luke asked.

“Yup.”

Damn. It kind of sucked, hoping that someone else would do poorly so you could medal. But that’s how it was. It’s not like the other teams wanted us to do good either.

I couldn’t watch, so I put a towel over my head. I felt Luke’s hand find mine under the towel and we held onto each other as tight as one would when you were hoping for your first Olympic medal.

It wasn’t just a big deal for us. The men’s team hadn’t medaled in the team finals the last five Olympics, making it over twenty years. They were close last time, having come in fourth. I hoped it wouldn’t be the same today.

I heard them announce Sheng Jiang, and I had to force myself not to hold my breath. It was hard to judge a routine simply from the crowd’s reactions, but I heard Luke say, “I don’t think it was good enough. He cut a few holds too short and wobbled a lot. I bet his execution score is low.”

And sure enough, Luke was right.

“Thank you, Jesus,” I heard Graham say.

“One down.” I could see Grant’s feet going back and forth.

I squeezed Luke’s hand.

Coach came over to us. “Let’s go, gentlemen. We’re watching this one together. Our country’s watching us, and we will be model sportsmen no matter the outcome. Whatever happens, I’m proud of you, and you should be too.”

“Ugh,” I groaned slightly, but complied, dropping the towel on the seat. The four of us stood up and joined Grant. We had our team jackets on. I’m sure someone had a flag ready in case we needed it. Tyler was the first to put his arm around Luke, and the trend continued down the line. The five of us, connected as one. And then we waited.

Pick Me (The Sunday Brothers, Book 1) by May Archer: RB, Exclusive Excerpt, Release Day Review and Giveaway

October 6, 2021 by Denise

The job at Sunday Orchard was supposed to be temporary.

A chance to gain some work experience. To have some fun. To get away from my overprotective brothers. To maybe, possibly encounter some lumberjacks in their natural habitat before moving on to the dream career that awaited me in the city.

I had not expected to be welcomed into a family of gorgeous and weirdly efficient lumberjack-types myself. Or to find a purpose in the tiny Vermont town whose claim to fame seemed to be apple-based products and copious amounts of charm.

And I most definitely hadn’t expected to fall for Knox Sunday, my grumpy, burly, fifteen-years-older, reluctant roommate, with his infuriating lectures, his hot-as-fire body, his superior attitude, his snarky humor, and his stealth cuddles.

Now I find myself making excuses to delay my big dreams… just for a little while.

But Knox has unfulfilled dreams of his own. A career he walked away from. A big city life in Boston he left behind when he returned to his hometown to help his family. He claims he’s not looking for anything permanent, and I’ve never been one to put down roots.

My big life is waiting for me somewhere other than Little Pippin Hollow. So why does it feel like I’ve finally found the home of my heart?

And how can I get Knox Sunday to… pick me?

My life had been a circus before Gage Goodman had showed up, it was true. But it had been a rational, well-organized circus. Three tidy rings, safety nets all around, and the shit had been shoveled regularly.

Then that… that… kid had come to the orchard two weeks ago, all sunshine-smiley and messy-haired and smelling like the ocean, taking over every single one of my spaces with his sly smile and his hilariously awful t-shirts and his dark eyes that showed his every emotion, and suddenly my life was a chaotic shit show run by rabid twin monkeys called lust and frustration that made me do stupid things like re-download the Grindr app in the dead of night just to check out who might be located twenty feet away from me—seriously, LumberjackLuvr? What kind of a user name was that, Goodman?—and blurt out things like, “Sure, I’ll go to lunch at your best friend Jack’s restaurant with you, Webb,” which was tantamount to me agreeing to Webb’s nosy matchmaking bullshit with his friend and Webb knew it.

I LOVED this book!

I had read a few of May Archer’s books before and I quite liked them. But there was something about this book that made me really love it. It is a spin off of a previous series that I haven’t read (too many books, too little time), but you absolutely don’t need to have read the previous. Only 1 detail wasn’t fully explained from the previous books, but it was kind of a big-ish detail, which is why I am taking away 1/2 a piece of eye candy. Ok, one other thing. I’ll get to that.

This books is snark + grumpy. You know they attract each other like moths to flames. The snark comes from Gage, newly out of college who scores a job at an apple orchard in Vermont. Being from the Keys in Florida, that is about the polar opposite of what he is used to. But he is all in. They need him to revamp their website, build an app and help them streamline everything.

Except his office and roommate at the new job is the oldest brother of the family who own and run the orchard. Knox is 15 years older than Gage, cranky and on a mental health sabbatical from his high stress job in Boston. So ya, of course, sparks.

There is a whole big cast of characters- Knox’s siblings and uncle, his uncle’s boyfriend, etc. They all welcome Gage with open arms and pretty immediately treat him like family. But that is just how they are. And Gage is a great guy. But naturally Knox has to fight it and be a jerk. At first.

We all know that Knox can’t hold out forever, they start the classic “FWB” thing, nothing serious, except it is and even though they think it is a secret it totally isn’t.

So some of the things I loved about the book. Gage is snarky. BUT he isn’t constantly snarky. I hate when it is over done. But it isn’t at all here. So when it does pop up, it is perfect. I also really felt like Gage spoke like a real 24 year old. Not a 24 year old as written by a 40 year old (I have no idea how old the author is, just throwing a number out there). It felt authentic.

Even though Knox is the oldest, the farm was left to his brother by design. He feels a bit like an outsider being back after working in Boston for so long. But he just needs to open his eyes to his family around him.

With a small town and a big family, you know there is going to be some people being super nosy into what others are doing. But these guys aren’t like that. Ok, except Webb who is scheming to get Knox together with his best friend Jack. But they all really live and coexist with each other without stepping on toes or fighting and I really enjoyed reading about a well functioning family.

Oh, the only other thing that knocked me down 1/2 a POEC is that Gage is helping with the irrigation system, which is kind of odd because he is all computers. I mean, he took a trip to Boston just to get some kinds of parts for it. Just seemed out there.

So 100% read this book. I can’t believe I have to wait until May for book 2. Sigh.

Finley Embraces Heart And Home (Love, Austen Book 4) by Anyta Sunday: Blog Tour, Exclusive Excerpt, New Release Review and Giveaway

October 4, 2021 by Denise

MUM is the love of his life.
Until he meets his STEP-BROTHER.

For years it’s been just Finley and Mum. Now she’s getting married, and they’re moving into a flash mansion and his step-dad is lording it over him. He’s clearly a homophobe, and doesn’t want him rubbing off (so to speak) on his son.

Like that would ever happen.

Even if Ethan and his dad don’t look anything alike.

Even if Ethan and his dad don’t act anything alike.

Even if . . .

This can’t happen. They’re whānau now, family, there are boundaries.

Secret. Forbidden. Irresistible.
A reimagining of Jane Austen’s Mansfield Park.

Ethan slips to my side, perfectly pressed in his spotless uniform, face free from the shadows of a cap. His hand moves to my bag and I feel the shudder of the zip. “It was open,”’ he says, and I know immediately he’s seen my test, pinned behind my smaller math textbook, the red-circled Achieved at the top right-hand corner.

I can’t look at him. My insides heave up my throat and the pressure stings my eyes.

“Um. See you at home, then.” I pound down the last of the path and emerge onto the parking lot. I’m halfway across when Ethan catches up and snags my hand.

His fingers wrap insistently around mine and our eyes catch. He tugs me toward his car and urges me inside.

“You’ll get in trouble,” I say as he slides into the driver’s seat.

Ethan stares out the window, then grabs his seatbelt, drawing it slowly across his chest. “I’ll be careful.”

Book 4 of the Love, Austen series where each book is a reimagining of a literary classic. This is the first one that I hadn’t read the original or seen any of the no fewer than 3 adaptations. No matter really. You don’t need to know the original at all. Nor do you need to have read the first three books.

The synopsis makes it sound like you get to know Finley and his mother before she gets married. But really you don’t. It starts almost immediately from his mother and her new fiance Tom announcing that they were engaged and would be moving to Tom’s mansion “Manfield”. Tom also has a son just a year older than Finley so he gets a brother, STEP brother, in the deal as well.

The entire book spans almost 10 years I think. From them as 15-16 year olds to nearly graduating college. So to say it is a slow burn is putting it mildly. The sexual tension is there from just about the beginning. But it doesn’t really read as sexual tension- more like 2 teen boys crushing hard on each other but trying to ignore it. But over time they become closer and closer, but never crossing the imaginary line.

What isn’t a help is Ethan’s father might be homophobic. Or at least have very clearly defined roles that people should fit in to. And his son shouldn’t play dress up when babysitting the neighbors, nor should he want to be an early education teacher as it won’t make him enough money.

We watch the boys grow close, support each other, help each other, become big brothers, finish school and have a gap year each- separately. Have other relationships, go to college and move out. But they are steadfast in their devotion to each other.

There’s a bit at the end with Tom (Ethan’s father, Finley’s step father) that had me in tears.

And I LOVE that not only is one of the characters Maori, but Finley’s mother strives to keep that culture alive in her children.

This one is will absolutely tug at your heart strings.

Joseph flipped through the photos, almost unaware that I was with him. Suddenly he stopped flipping and said, “Oh, now this is interesting. This is what appears to be a marmot, an Olympic marmot, to be precise.” He turned toward me, a light in his eyes that hadn’t been there before.

“These are found only in this part of the world.” He was so wrapped up in what he was showing me that I don’t think he realized just how close he was sitting or how close his face was to mine. Trying not to make something out of nothing, I looked intently at the marmot, which incidentally looked like a cross between a beaver and squirrel. I tried to wait until Joseph moved away.

My God, he smelled like the woods. We were in the woods, and he smelled more like a forest than the forest did. I had to stop it. Maybe I should have faked being in pain so I could stop it before I embarrassed myself, again!

Joseph looked over at me.

“Did you know there are several species that live everywhere else in Washington state but here? There are also a few species that only live here… can only live here.”

Then his expression changed, and with the coolest movement, he leaned the extra few inches between us and kissed me. Just as soon as it started, it ended, leaving me a little lost. When he pulled away, he smiled.

Blake Allwood was born in west TN, then moved to Kansas City MO after attending college in Iowa. He met his husband, Shaun, in 1995 and they officially married in 2015, once the United States legalized gay marriage.

In 2017, he and his husband sold their home, purchased an RV and began traveling the country with their two dogs. Their travels provide the inspiration and settings for many of his novels.

Typically, Blake can be found writing in the RV or by the fire with his laptop and their Jack Russell Terrier, Buddy, curled up between his legs or demanding his attention.  Denver, their Siberian Husky mix is often asleep at his feet or playing tug of war with Shaun.

Aiden Inspired (Apr 2019) is his first published novel, featuring two disparate characters from New York and Washington State who meet and develop an unlikely bond.

His second novel, Suzie Empowered (Feb 2020), is a follow-up novel featuring Aiden’s sister Suzie as she overcomes her fear of relationships with straight men due to a sexual assault in high school.

Blake returned to gay romance with his release of Bobby Transformed (Mar 2020) about an Iowa farm boy and a big city publisher.

These first three novels share characters and can be read as a series or each as a stand-alone novel.

Romantic Renovations (June 2020), is a stand-alone novel that features a popular home renovation star and a large property owner in Seattle, Washington.  Blake veers from his contemporary romance themed novels and dips his toes in the crime mystery troupe for this one.  He is currently working on two additional books to make this into a series.

His Chance series was released in the summer of 2020, consisting of three books:   Love by Chance, Another Chance With Love, and Taking a Chance For Love

The Big Bend series, based in the area around Big Bend National Park in Texas will be released over three  months beginning June 2021.

Hotter Than Hot: A Friends to Lovers Romance (Suntastic Fun Book 2) by Ariella Zoelle: Blog Tour, Exclusive Excerpt, New Release Review and Giveaway

September 23, 2021 by Denise

Baxley has been teasing Callahan for years about wanting to be with him. When Callahan finds out his best friend is actually serious about being with him, his curiosity gets the better of him. Why should being straight stop him from having fun with his sexy best friend?

Callahan

Baxley is a lot of things: an awesome friend, a relentlessly shameless flirt, a little too attractive, and way too tempting when I’m straight. All of his heated teasing is starting to get to me, making me wonder if maybe indulging my curiosity might be worth blurring the boundaries of our friendship for a night. But what if it’s so good that I want a repeat experience?

He promises me an experience that’s hotter than hot, but am I ready to discover that I like what he’s offering me?

Baxley

When everything about Callahan lights my insides up like a fireworks finale on the Fourth of July, I knew from the moment I first saw him that he was the one for me. The only thing stopping me from making him mine is that he’s straight. But that excuse goes out the window when he kisses me, like he’s been dying for a taste of me for years.

If he’s ready to take a chance on me for one night, can I make him fall in love with me forever?

Hotter Than Hot is the second and final book in the Suntastic Fun duet. This novella features a friends to lovers, bisexual awakening, no angst romance. If you love cute sweetness, sexy fun, and scorching-hot banter that will make you laugh and swoon, you’ll adore this satisfying HEA without cliffhangers. Each book can be read as a standalone but is best enjoyed in order.

Hotter Than Hot was originally published as Turn Up the Heat for the Boys of Summer M/M giveaway. A new epilogue has been added for publication.

It was precious how Callahan blushed at the sight of my arousal. “Now that I know you haven’t been with anyone for years, your raging horniness makes a lot more sense.”

I reached down to stroke my length as I held his gaze. “This has everything to do with finally being blessed enough to have the chance to prove to you I’m not all talk.”

He blinked at me several times with a dazed look.

Not wanting to overwhelm him with too much too soon, I stopped touching myself. “Are you having second thoughts?”

He shook his head, making me breathe a sigh of relief. “No, I’m confused.”

“About what?”

He bit his lower lip. “You’re going to laugh at me.”

“In theory, that should reassure you since that’s the norm.” My words earned me the chuckle I knew they would. “But if it’ll make you feel better, I promise I’ll try really hard not to.”

He took a deep breath as he squared his shoulders with resolve. “I might have had a few inappropriate late-night thoughts wondering what it would be like if I ever said yes to your offers to suck my dick.”

What a delightful kernel of knowledge that was. Rather than thanking him for giving me something new to fantasize about, I nodded to show I was listening, and he should continue.

“We’re always clothed when you tugged my pants down when I reached the point where I couldn’t take the teasing anymore.” He looked away in embarrassment. “I never pictured either of us being completely naked.”

“Would it make you more comfortable if I put my clothes back on?”

“No, but I feel like I’m supposed to have a squeamish straight-guy reaction to seeing you jerking off, but, um…”

I was dying to know how that sentence ended. “You can tell me.”

He looked up at the ceiling with a pained expression. “I can’t say it. It’s going to make me sound so self-centered.”

“That’s fine. It’s hot when your ego comes out to play a little.” Grinning at him, I tried to convince him some more. “It should be fairly obvious by this point that I love it when you’re a bit of a bastard. Lay it on me.”

It took him a few moments to build up the courage to confess. “Instead of being grossed out watching you touching yourself, it’s kind of…um, well, it’s sort of sexy seeing how turned on you are because of me. I don’t know what to do with that reaction.”

“You’ve got plenty of time to overanalyze it later. All that matters right now is you’re into this.”

He drew a shuddering breath. “Way more than I was expecting.”

I closed the distance between us to give him a searing kiss to refocus his attention on what was happening. He whimpered into it as I let my hands wander over his bare skin. I slowly worked down to his shorts, unbuttoning them and sending them to the floor.

I stopped shy of my goal, even as I took a moment to appreciate the bulge straining in his navy briefs. “Do you want me to keep going?”

“Dear god, please.”

This was kind of a continuation/off-shoot of It Might Be Hot: A Friends to Lovers Gay Romance (Suntastic Fun Book 1), so similar to the first book, this one was about the same. Lots of sex, LOTS, and a couple that were friends, become lovers and are in love pretty much overnight.

It was very, for want of a better word, schmoopy. Very gushy, with Baxley being in love with Callahan from the first time they met. It was insta-love three years later. 🙂 With lots of sex. lol

I did enjoy that we got to learn a bit more about these guys than the first book, and we did learn that the reason Bax was so flirty with Callahan was not because he was just a huge flirt, but because he kept hoping Callahan would just take him up on it.

It was low angst, very sweet, and you felt for Bax who had been in love with his best friend for all this time. However, there was definitely a lack of meat to it. With it being a beachy/summer read, though, that’s what you’re generally looking for. A fun, quick read.

My neighbor has to die. There’s no other way around it. The man must be killed—and I’ll even find a way to do it gently, but this cannot go on.Okay, maybe I’m a bit dramatic, but living next to my brother’s best friend who decided to befriend the crows that spend all week spreading garbage across my lawn is not what I signed up for.I wanted quiet.I wanted peace.I wanted to stop fantasizing about the gorgeous man I couldn’t stand.Unfortunately for me, North is a big presence with an annoyingly sunny smile and a way of making life sound like it’s worth living. And as a widower who wants to spend the rest of my life wallowing, the last person I want around is one who makes me question my new life’s purpose. But these feelings can’t be real, can they? I had my great love, and I lost him. So that’s supposed to be it for me.Isn’t that the way things go?I can’t seem to stay away from North, even when I know I should. And when he starts to make me feel like maybe there’s another happily ever after out there, I find that as cautious as I’ve taken each step, I’m on the verge of falling once more.Don’t Fall is the first book in the small town, enemies to lovers, heavy yearning, MM romance series, Storm Season. It features a virgin EMT whose smile is hiding a lot of things, a disgruntled, grieving writer who just wants solid sleep and a good meal, neighborhood crows wreaking havoc, cooking lessons, hurt/comfort, and a toe-curling happily ever after.✨INFLUENCERS: Sign up here for this amazing release: bit.ly/DONTFALLSIGNUP#coverreveal #emlindsey #mmromance The Author Agency ... ✨EXCERPT: DEVIATE ME by @daphne.thorne.author releasing May 27th! #PreOrderHere a.co/d/0footXlx Damien jumps out of his bed and quickly crosses the room. His soft, naked steps on the hardwood floors remind me of when we were just kids. When he’d sneak from his bed into mine, so that I could shelter him from the loud arguments our parents had all the time. And that’s exactly what he does now; he crawls into my bed.Oh, no . . . Holy shit.I stop breathing as he gets under the covers and curls into a ball next to me, nuzzling his face in my neck. It’s been years since he’s done this. We were both children when it started, and it was a completely innocent thing. It was normal to wrap my arms around his tiny body and let him sleep where he felt safe. Even when we were much older and we’d already run away from home, he’d done this when he’d felt really upset. And I never thought anything of it.This time, however, is different. I can’t stop my skin from erupting into goosebumps, and my heart from beating hard against my ribcage. I can’t stop the rush of blood towards my groin either, which is probably the worst part. Damien’s breath is hot against my skin, and he smells heavenly. His scent reminds me a lot of honey and mint.Fucking Jacob chose his nickname pretty well . . .#mmmromance #daphnethorne #spicyromance The Author Agency ... See MoreSee Less

Two Chicks Obsessed with Books and Eye Candy
My review:Hat Trick by EM Lindsey After reading book 1, I couldn't wait to read about the other brothers. We knew from book 1 that it was going to be Micah and Vanya. They had started dancing around each other in book 1.Man, Micah is DAMAGED. Not only his childhood, but his adulthood as well. And then he tops it all off with a stalker that he swears isn't a stalker but ya, he's a stalker.Vanya has nothing but heart eyes for his pretty little goalie. But, in my opinion, takes way too much crap from Micah. But he never gives up. He slows down and steps back but never gives up. Gotta give him patience and tenacity points. When things begin to escalate with the stalker, Vanya always seems to be there to help- much to Micah's chagrin. Remember, always treating Vanya like crap. Which killed me because he is such a teddy bear!We meet one of Vanya's brothers and can we say stereotype Russians much?Although Micah did soften up in the end and Vanya got the love he deserved, there was still a little too much I didn't like. I really hope book 3 is better.3 pieces of eye candy ... See MoreSee Less
