His Fake Boyfriend by Hurri Cosmo: Blog Tour, Exclusive Author Interview, Excerpt and Giveaway

December 5, 2022 by Denise

.                                       .

Noah is Griffin Colewater’s best friend and absolutely no one knows him better. Certainly not any of the parade of girlfriends he’s had over the years. Even his most recent, Lauren, whom he has been with the longest.

And just broke up with.

Does it make Noah a terrible friend if he’s just a little bit thrilled about that?

It doesn’t really matter, though. Griffin is the oldest son of the owners of Colewater Properties, a multi-gazillion dollar hotel conglomerate. He is also next in line to take over when his father retires which makes Griffin the most sought-after bachelor in the city. So, another girl is right around the corner.

The issue? Griffin’s mother claims to be desperately tired of his playboy antics. She is demanding Griffin settle down with a wife and family “or else”. Being that Griffin has never actually been able to please his mother in anything, Noah doesn’t understand Griffin’s hopeless mission to make that happen now.

Which makes the huge charity bash his parents are throwing a bit problematic. His mother is insisting on meeting Lauren. Yep. Griffin has yet to tell her he’s single again. And he insists he’s not going to. Instead, Griffin does something insane. He hires a fake girlfriend. Yah. A fake Lauren. Well ― not fake. She’s a ‘Lauren’, too. But that’s not the point. Griffin asked Noah to provide the “girlfriend for months” knowledge to Lauren number two so she could pull this whole ‘girlfriend’ thing off.

Honestly. What can go wrong with that?

Everything.

Because Griffin is not only Noah’s very best friend in all the world, Noah is also so crazy in love with the man, he hurts. A stupid stunt like this could reveal that very thing and freak Griffin’s parents out so badly, he’s sure they will gift Noah with cement boots and personally pitch him off the pier themselves. But the bigger problem in Noah’s mind? Griffin is totally not gay and if he ever found out Noah’s true feelings?

Damn.

Griffin would more than likely be the one mixing the cement.

What was your first published work? Tell me a little about it.

That would be “Until You”. It was actually a fan fic for the “Finder” Manga which I converted into a novel by changing some of the details. I love the “Finder” series. I also wrote a few others for that series that I converted into books. “I Believe Now”, which is a sequel for “Until You”, “Baby, Think It Over” which became “Unexpected Heart”, “Ladders” which is not available at the moment and even “The Astral Mage” had an influence from that Manga.

Have you ever taken a trip to research a story? Tell me about it.

We went to New Orleans for a wedding and the “Crow Boy” story manifested in my mind. I didn’t GO to New Orleans to research it, but once I was there, I had to do that. It will be about a boy who can enter people’s memories and can change them. He also has a “pet” crow but I think the crow is actually a shifter that has yet to show himself. I don’t have the entire premise for that story yet. I have the cover for it though. Great, odd, creepy cover. Bits and pieces. Soon.

What is your writing Kryptonite?

Noise. People talking to me. Too many things on my plate.

Do you use a pseudonym? If so, why?

Hurri Cosmo is a pen name. I also wrote a novel under the name Teri Yorek. Teri was my sister. When she passed away way too young and more than twenty years ago now the family went through her things and found a number of notebooks where she had written stories. I asked if I could have those notebooks because someday I was going to be an author and I swore to my mother that when I did I would publish her story. I pieced together all of the writings and finally came up with “Every Breath”. Painted Hearts Publishing published it for me. That was amazing. Thankfully because my mother had become ill as well so prior to my mother passing away it was done. When the book came out, my mother put it on Teri’s silent piano on a small easel. That was a bigger compliment then any five star review I could get. However, I DID get two five star reviews for this book.

Do you ever base your characters on real people?

Absolutely. In fact, most of my characters are based on “real” people. They have to be. I used to consider myself an artist. But the problem was, even though I came up with stuff in my head, I couldn’t get it down on paper. So in my stories I use personalities that I know. Even so, often times, they go off in directions I am totally not prepared for. But I love that.

How long do you write each day?

I don’t write every day. I do WORK at my craft every day. I read, research, write, think, dream. All that stuff. It all contributes.

Do you read your book reviews? How do you deal with bad or good ones?

It’s hard not to read the bad ones. It’s hard TO read them, but if I do, I try to pull from them something I can use. The good ones uplift me, just like any other author. But it’s the bad ones that stick. Scar.

How long on average does it take you to write a book?

In the past it was just months. I was working parttime back then and now I am working fulltime. More than fulltime. I get up at three in the morning to get that time alone but that is often interrupted these days since my husband gets up shortly after that now, loving those early morning hours. With less and less time to myself, it unfortunately takes upwards of a year.

Why did you choose to write in your particular field or genre?

I am not sure why I write Gay Romance. All I know is that when I discovered it, started to consume it, I knew this was the genre for me. At least for now. I have written one romance that had a man and woman. That was the story I wrote for my sister, Teri. I also have one mystery story I wrote. No romance at all. Paranormal. It’s not published. I need to update it. It is truly the first book I wrote. I might get it out. We will see. I have all of these ideas written down, too. Mystery, fantasy, paranormal. Prior to discovering gay romance, I was writing all kinds of genres.

Are you a full-time or part-time writer? How does that affect your writing?

Part time. I wish it was full time. Someday when I retire I can maybe say that I am full time. It affects my writing by me not being able to actually get my ideas out as quickly as I want to and I don’t have a great memory. So… I lose a lot.

Do your books spring to life from a character first or an idea?

Both. It really depends. Many things.

How do you approach covers for your indie stories?

In the past I had to rely on someone else to “see” my vision because I published through small publishing houses. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn’t. I have also bought pre-mades. Most recently, for this book, I employed an artist. That was great.

“Ahhhhhhh!”

The scream jarred Noah awake and nearly off the couch. With eyes wide and his heart in his throat, he darted his gaze around the large living room, expecting big foot or murderers or at the very least a hot guy running naked across the floor. But there was none of those things. Just Griffin’s latest, his longest actually, standing there trying to cover her nakedness with perfectly manicured fingers. Her hair was only a bit out of place. However, she had no doubt gone to bed with her makeup on.

“What’s wrong?” Noah croaked out, trying to calm his heart as Griffin came tearing―okay, stumbling―up the hallway behind her, yanking on a robe.

“Lauren? What the fuck?” Griffin made it into the living room to stand beside Lauren. He, too, had perused the room with eyes that were barely open, squinting against the bright early sunshine already pouring in the windows. “Why are you screaming?”

She pointed a finger, having to bare a plump breast to do it, right at Noah. “There’s a man in our house.”

Griffin glanced at Noah and grinned. “Where?”

“Funny,” Noah deadpanned as he flopped back into his pillow, blood still pumping loudly in his ears. “What time is it, anyway?”

“Fuck,” Griffin grouched. “Six. Lauren, what the fuck are you screeching at six in the morning for?”

“I’m not screeching!”

Oh, she so totally was, and it grated on every nerve in Noah’s body.

“There’s a stranger sleeping on the couch in my living room!” she insisted.

Wait. Her living room?

“Don’t be ridiculous,” Griffin yawned. “That’s Noah. You know Noah.”

Which was true. It would be hard not to know him if anyone met Griffin even a little. They were pretty much inseparable.

“How did he get in here, and what is he doing in our condo at six in the morning?”

“He has his own… wait…” There was movement and suddenly Griffin was hunched down near Noah’s head. “Hey buddy, she has a point. What are you doing here? What happened?”

“I was kicked out,” Noah moaned sleepily.

“What? That asshole!”

“Who’s an asshole?” came that shrieking voice again. Evidently, she felt it safer to shout from a distance.

“Can you tell her to tone it down a bit?” Noah whimpered.

“I can tell her. She won’t listen.”

“Quit talking about me like I’m not here!”

“Pretty tough to forget that,” Griffin murmured.

She squealed again but seemed to storm off because it was blessedly quiet again. Noah really did need to learn to like her better. Or at all. The problem was, she hated Noah.

“You’re going to pay for that,” Noah said.

“Believe me, I already am. Tell me what happened.” Griffin picked Noah’s head up, scooted himself under it so he was sitting on the couch and laid Noah’s head in his lap.

“You need to go do this with Lauren.”

“Do what? Besides, I want to find out what happened.”

Damn. Noah should never have come here. He wished now he had barged in on Genny and Marcus instead. Of course, he didn’t have an open invitation there like he did here. Still… “Sorry for… well, ruining your morning with Lauren.”

“You didn’t ruin anything. Quit stalling. Was it that asshole, Sabastian?”

“Who else? He…”

“He what?”

“He’s a jerk. They’re both jerks. They threw me out last night.” Literally. But he didn’t say that out loud. He was still pretty freaked out about it.

“Fuck, Noah, you’re the one on the lease. Not that asshole you let move in with you. Why do you…? Wait. You’re shaking. What else happened?”

“I’m… just cold.” Lie.

“Hmmm. Well, never mind. I’ll deal with it.”

Oh shit. “How?”

“I don’t want you to worry about it.” He patted Noah’s head and smoothed his most likely wild hair. “What time did you get here?”

“About two.” He had somehow misplaced his wallet. Most likely it was laying on his living room floor having fallen out during the scuffle. Having no money or bus card meant he had to walk instead of being able to take a taxi or even mass transit. Thankfully the doorman knew Noah, and Griffin had left explicit instructions with the building’s staff that if Noah ever needed anything, including a spare key card to Griffin’s condo, he would be given it.

“Really? Wow. Go back to sleep.” He continued to stroke Noah’s hair. “Even I got more sleep than that.”

Noah opened his eyes and turned his head to stare up at Griffin. “Are you serious? Two o’clock, Griffin. You guys were going at it like… like…” His anxiety tamped up a bit. “Well, whatever. I shouldn’t have come.” Especially since it always depressed him to be reminded Lauren was front and center. And other things.

“Of course, you should be here, you know that. Why didn’t you just sleep in the guest bedroom?”

Noah rolled his eyes and turned back away. “You mean the one next to your room? You know why.”

Griffin harumphed. “Really? What? We were noisy?”

“You were deafening. Earsplitting. God. I hate the sound of hetero sex.”

I am Hurri Cosmo and I live in Minnesota where I hold tight to the idea that here, where it’s cold a good part of the year, I won’t age as fast. Yep, I avoid the truth as much as I avoid mirrors. But one of the reasons I love writing is reality doesn’t always offer up a “happily ever after” and being able to take control of that is a powerful lure.

Being a happy ending junkie, writing just makes them easier to find. Oh, I don’t mind “real life” and I do try to at least keep it in mind when I write my stories, but I truly love creating a wonderful couple, knowing they will fall in love and have their HEA. Every – single – time. And, of course, that is exactly the reason I love reading this genre, too.

Give me a glass of red wine, some dark chocolate, and my computer, whether I am reading or writing, and I will entertain myself for hours. The fact I actually get paid to do it is Snickers bars on the frosting on the cake.

Firecracker by Lucy Lennox and May Archer: Release Blitz with Exclusive Excerpt

December 1, 2022 by Denise

.                                      .

Honeybridge, Book 1

There are three kinds of people in Honeybridge, Maine: The Honeycutts, who know a lot about love and loyalty; The Wellbridges, who think they’re the epitome of wealth and refinement; and the rest of the Honeybridgers, who know better than to get in the way of the centuries-old rivalry between the two.

There wasn’t a time when I didn’t know Flynn “Firecracker” Honeycutt.

He’s been my childhood friend. My high school rival. The guy I couldn’t stop dreaming about, long after I thought I’d left him and Honeybridge in my rear-view mirror.

Now he’s the key to the giant promotion that can make or break my career… if I can just convince the man to give me the distribution rights for his award-winning mead.

Unfortunately, that’s easier said than done.

Flynn’s not the guy he used to be. His gorgeous eyes used to spark with dreams and fire, but now he looks at me with cold fury. And just like Achilles had his heel and Samson had his hair, I had Flynn Honeycutt, the one man I’d never been able to charm, despite an entire life spent winning people over.

I’m not giving up, though. Because I’m not the kid I used to be, either. And because, if the two of us can survive a long, hot summer filled with his family’s crazy antics and my mother’s single-handed determination to keep the Wellbridge-Honeycutt feud alive, there might just be a chance for both of us to get what we want:

A new dream.

The fulfillment of an old town legend.

And another chance to spark Firecracker to life.

There it was. My mother’s raison d’être. The Wellbridge-Honeycutt feud.

The rivalry between the two largest families in Honeybridge was hardly new. It had been raging since seventeen-hundred-and-who-the-heck-knew, when a pair of best friends had traveled north from Boston to settle the fertile land near a lake and make their fortunes. Sounded wholesome and idyllic, and it had been… until Peregrine Wellbridge had decided to dam up the town river to irrigate his crops, cutting off his best friend’s water supply, and January Honeycutt had lost his ever-loving mind and chopped down Peregrine’s favorite oak tree in retaliation to make a mantle for his fireplace.

Since then, the Wellbridges and the Honeycutts were required, by birthright, to disagree on absolutely everything, from the color of the sky to the name of the lake near the town, which was known as either “Kiss Me Quick Lake” or “Lake Wellbridge,” depending on who you were and which camp you found yourself in.

As a result, competition in the town was fierce. I’d like to have said that the people my age weren’t as obsessed with the feud as the generations before us had been—and they were definitely less mean-spirited about it—but the competition between the clans raged on intensely, and the other folks in town knew enough to stay out of the way.

I’d never bought into it and had always had plenty of Honeycutts in my Contacts list. But the most important two had always been Pop Honeycutt, who ran the General Store, and… one other number I should have deleted three years ago.

A number that belonged to a man with green eyes, freckled skin, and the prickliest disposition I’d ever encountered.

About Lucy:
After enjoying creative writing as a child, Lucy didn’t write her first novel until she was over 40 years old. Her debut novel, Borrowing Blue, was published in the autumn of 2016. Lucy has an English Literature degree from Vanderbilt University, but that doesn’t hold a candle to the years and years of staying up all night reading tantalizing novels on her own. She has three children, plays tennis, and hates folding laundry. While her husband is no shmoopy romance hero, he is very good at math, cooks a mean lasagne, has gorgeous eyes, looks hot in his business clothes, and makes her laugh every single day.
Lucy hopes you enjoy sexy heroes as much as she does. Happy reading!

Fran Cuthbert Ruins Christmas by Lisa Henry & J.A. Rock: Release Blitz, Exclusive Excerpt, Release Day Review and Giveaway

November 16, 2022 by Denise

.                           .

Welcome (back) to Christmas Valley. Where it’s Christmas every. F@$#ing. Day.

It’s your typical Hallmark movie plot: my big city boyfriend dumped me, so my adorable five-year-old daughters and I moved back to my hometown just in time for Christmas. I guess the magic of the holiday is going to show me what I really wanted all along, or something.

But on Hallmark, people aren’t usually mainlining their mother’s Xanax. Or stealing the last available Peachblossom Pony Pal from their hot doctor because they have to give their kids the best Christmas ever. And when they run into their high school sweetheart, they don’t usually face the gulf of lies that exists between Cass Sullivan and me.

Oh yeah, and their hometown isn’t located directly up Christmas’s butthole.

I left Christmas Valley because I couldn’t listen to one more carol or look at one more tinsel-wrapped streetlamp. But moving to Boston meant leaving Cass, and that has always been my one regret. I mean, I also regret the box of Franzia in my closet, being publicly dumped, agreeing to take tap dancing lessons with my mom, and the fact that I can’t seem to open my mouth without a little white lie popping out. But mostly Cass.

When I need someone to play Santa for my girls’ favorite Christmas tradition, Cass steps in. Suddenly, I’m falling for him like we’re seventeen again. Can we put aside two decades’ worth of baggage and give each other a second chance? Can he help me build a life in Christmas Valley? And has he really been banging our former geometry teacher?

Only Christmastime will tell. If the holidays don’t kill me first.

Fran Cuthbert Ruins Christmas is a sweet, low-heat holiday novella featuring a second chance romance, a hot mess MC who could use a steadying hand, adorable kids and dogs, and a guaranteed HEA.

I ducked through the archway that led to Santa’s Grotto, and followed a tiny, curving path through a forest-themed corridor lit with splashes of colored Christmas lights until I reached the entrance to the grotto where, for some unaccountable reason, the forest theme ended and the toyshop one began. A train whistled jauntily as it rattled past on its tracks.

“Holly jolly Christmas,” an elf said, and then hesitated before showing me an iPad. The screen displayed an order form for exorbitantly priced photo packages. “Are you here for Santa photos?”

“No,” I said. There was a woman with three children lined up in front of me. She looked at me suspiciously. The kids took the opportunity to beat each other with inflatable candy canes. “I’m here to see C—Santa,” I corrected myself before I ruined Christmas for the brats in front of me. “It’s a personal matter.”

The woman looked even more suspicious. So did the elf.

I lowered my voice. “I’m a friend of Cass’s.”

“Oh!” the elf exclaimed. His voice lost at least half an octave of elfishness. “Yeah, dude, no problem. He’ll be about fifteen.”

Up at the front of the grotto, Cass sat on a glittery gold throne, a wobbly-lipped toddler on his knee. He bounced his leg a little to distract the kid, and yeah…no way should my gaze have been drawn to Santa’s thigh like that. But whatever his suit pants were made of, the fabric looked silky and thin, and I couldn’t help it if it clung to his thigh muscles when he flexed them. Hell, even the padding in his tunic wasn’t putting me off. I had enough of a dad bod these days that I was in no position to judge Santa for overindulging in gingerbread. I wasn’t a fan of the fake white beard, but it did make me wonder how he’d look if he let his stubble grow into a real one. I was not opposed.

“Adam! Adam! Adam!” the mom of the toddler trilled, trying to prevent the kid from diving over the edge of toddler uncertainty into the full-blown screaming fit we all knew was right around the corner. Life is fraught when you’re a toddler. It’s fraught when you’re thirty-six too.

Cass bounced his knee again, and the toddler reached up and caught his beard and tugged it. Crisis averted.

The elf moved in to take photos while Cass asked the kid, who was really way too small to answer a weird stranger, what he wanted for Christmas. The kid stared up at him warily, his fist still wrapped in the Santa beard, and didn’t answer. But he didn’t start screaming either, so that was a win.

Cass smiled at Adam from behind his now lopsided beard, and my heart did a dangerous loop-the-loop. Then the toddler and his mom left and were replaced by the three kids with the inflatable candy canes. The boys yelled their lists over each other to get heard, while the little girl waited her turn. When Cass finally got the boys to simmer down and asked the girl what she wanted, she took her thumb out of her mouth and said in a whisper-sweet Shirley Temple voice that I didn’t believe for a second—I’d seen her wielding her candy cane with unrestrained fury—“I want a Pony Pals sleeping bag and a Sugarpie parasol, please.”

“I will try my very hardest,” Cass promised, and the little girl beamed.

The kids and Cass posed for their photos, and then, as Cass was helping the girl off his lap, he looked over at the line and saw me waiting.

The girl made an ‘eep’ sound as he swung her a little too wide, and Cass made an ‘oops’ one as he brought her back down for a safe landing. The kids and their mom left.

“Sparkles, I’m going to take five,” Cass said.

“There’s no kids here, you don’t have to call me that,” the elf said.

“There could be kids just around the corner.”

“Whatever, Santa.”

Cass rolled his eyes at the elf and nodded toward a red door behind his throne. “Fran?”

I love how these two authors write together. They have a seamlessness to their writing that works so well. It really is quite difficult, in my opinion, to know when one is writing or the other. Their humor is spot on, and nothing is quite as it seems to the naked eye in every book. Fran Cuthbert Ruins Christmas is much the same. This one is full of humor and when you throw in a few cute children, a lot of idiotic moves and second chances, you end up with a holiday romance from these authors.

Fran moves back home with his twin daughters from Boston after his relationship falls apart. Initially, he wants his ex to come to Christmas Valley to continue a holiday tradition for the girls, despite his ex having met someone else. Soon after, you begin to see what a hot mess Fran is, in so many hilarious (and not so hilarious) ways. He drinks wine by the boxes, eats very badly, and has a very bad habit of lying when he doesn’t know how to handle something. That is the spot where it fell a little flat for me.

Fran’s lying broke his relationship with Cass up back when they were getting ready to go to college. And it seemed as if he never learned to turn that off. He lied about just about everything, which became awkward for him, and messed up a second chance with Cass-again. And Cass forgave him rather quickly, in my estimation.

Cass was a sweetheart, and despite having his heart broken by Fran more than once, he kept going back. (I loved his idea for a business! Perfect for Christmas Valley!) In the end, Fran came up with a grand gesture to show Cass how much he meant to him, and as befitting the hot mess that Fran was…it failed spectacularly.

It did seem that Fran might have learned his lesson, but dang…the man knows how to sabotage himself.

It was funny, joyful, cute children and a whole lot of mess with Fran and Liar Bob. A holiday romance with a third chance to get to their happy ending, and they did.

Unnecessary Roughness (Package Deal, Book 3) by Rheland Richmond and Emerson Beckett: Release Blitz, Exclusive Excerpt, and Giveaway

November 15, 2022 by Denise

Jackson Kincaid

When my childhood best friend and I escaped a potentially miserable life in our small southern hometown to attend the University of Georgia, I thought I’d finally be able to live my life the way I’d planned. I’d go to school on a football scholarship and get my degree to become a veterinarian. But when the NFL came calling, how could I say no to millions of dollars? I’d put my plans on hold for a while, along with finding the right man for me.

But life doesn’t always go as we plan.

When Allison was killed in a car accident, I suddenly became the only parent to my ten-year-old godson. How would I play football for the Portland Pirates and be a full-time single dad?

I’d have to adjust. And thanks to my friends, and the badass team doctor, we’d heal and make it through. Did I mention he’s my best friend and that I can’t stop thinking dirty thoughts about him naked?

Unfortunately, keeping our relationship a secret is not the only obstacle we’ll face.

Simon Taylor

My training as a Navy doctor prepared me to assess injuries on the fly and deal with all kinds of situations. Emotions and feelings had no place in medicine during an emergency. Determine the problem and fix it. Or find someone who could. As my new friends liked to call me, I was the badass team doctor.

I wasn’t prepared for the passionate feelings I didn’t know I had for Jackson to surface while helping him deal with losing his friend and taking custody of her son. But feelings and emotions were what I had for both of them.

But life has a way of unfolding the way it’s supposed to. I’m a believer in things happen for a reason. It doesn’t matter that our relationship might be forbidden. I want to get sweaty and naked with him.

Jackson and I deserve to be together no matter how rough things get. I just had to convince him of that.

Unnecessary Roughness is the friends-to-lovers story in the third book of the Package Deal Series.

Chapter 16 – Note to Self: find a better vitamin supplement

I was tired, but apparently not enough to sleep. I turned the volume down on the TV and picked up the military thriller I’d been meaning to read for a while. Slipping on my reading glasses, I grabbed it just as my phone buzzed on the nightstand.

I picked it up to find Jackson’s name on the screen, making me smile.

Jackson: What are u doing?

Me: I’m in bed.

Me: What are you doing?

Jackson: Laying in bed, wishing you were here with me. *sad emoji*

Me: Me too. Kinda quiet around here.

Jackson: Wanna jack off together?

Oh my fucking god, his teenage libido was going to kill me.

Me: No, baby boy, but I’ll be happy to watch you do it.

Me: How can you even get it up? You came like four times today.

Jackson: *shrug emoji* I just got it bad for you, babe.

That made me smile.

Me: As your doctor, I must advise you that wearing the skin off your dick will not fare well when you have to wear a jock very soon. Maybe you should get some rest instead.

Jackson: But you’d kiss it and make it better, right?

Me: *eye roll emoji*

Jackson: Okay, fine. You’re probably right. When will I see you…tomorrow?

Me: IDK. How’s Parker?

Jackson: Upstairs in his room. He’s gonna try to sleep up there, but I have a feeling I’ll wake up with him in here.

Me: Poor kid. We need to find a counselor tomorrow.

Jackson: Yeah, we do. Can you help?

Me: Of course. *heart emoji*

God, I was a sap for this man and his kid. At this rate, what was left of my reputation would be gone by the end of the week.

Me:  Why don’t we meet for breakfast at The Diner?

Jackson: Hmm… sounds good. What time?

Me: I’m going to go for a run in the morning. Call me when Park is up.

Jackson: Okay. Since you won’t jack off with me, I’m going to sleep with this pole in my pants. *man pouting emoji*

Me: *eye roll emoji* LOL

Me: Goodnight, babe.

Jackson: Night, baby.

I smiled. Jackson was gonna wear my ass out. I could already tell. Note to self: find a better vitamin supplement.

Going back to my book, I tried to concentrate on the story rather than fantasizing about Jackson all hard and needy. My cock twitched at the thought. I picked up the sheet and peered down at my cock.

“Give it up, buddy. Three times is your limit for a day.”

Rheland Richmond:

For as long as she can remember Rheland‘s had her nose stuck in a book, getting lost in the world of someone else’s creation (She still does). Her love for writing came from her love for reading. She could never have one without the other.

Writing has always been a hobby and a cathartic experience for her. There are many stories lost to the never to be completed or published pile but needed to be written at the time.

She’s just a girl that loved stories so much she wrote hers.

Emerson Beckett:

Who is Emerson Beckett? That’s a good question.

I’m a retired educator who loves all things romance and an avid reader and consumer of well-written M/M romance books.

My journey to becoming an author started with an idea I had one night while I sat reading on my sofa. That idea became an email that ultimately resulted in me editing for three wonderfully talented M/M romance authors. The third referral led to an opportunity to co-write with one of the most genuine and kindest people I’ve ever had the pleasure to know. (She’s my co-author for Quarterback Keeper.)

I’m a wife and a mother of three beautiful adults, one of which is trans and responsible for my love of this genre. All three have since left us with an empty nest that is now full of pets.

Emerson would love to hear from her readers. So if you get a chance… Get in touch.

Love and History: Nerd/Jock MM Romance (The Script Club Book 6) by Lane Hayes: Blog Tour, Exclusive Excerpt, New Release Review and Giveaway

November 3, 2022 by Denise

.                                .

The sporty roommate, the professor, and a history lesson…

Holden
Ezra might be the most annoying roommate ever. He’s loud, obnoxious, and full of himself. So what if he’s a tall, muscular, tattooed jock? His tendency to strip to his boxers in the kitchen while helping himself to my food isn’t endearing in the slightest. Nope. Ezra has to go.

However, I have to admit, he’s the perfect fit to play the king for my historic reenactment event. Ezra in a royal robe…oh, this could be quite tantalizing indeed.

He might do it…if he loses a bet.

Hmm…

Ezra
Holden is the kind of dude who wears top hats and great coats while teaching astrophysics to brainiacs. Weird, right? But I gotta respect that level of commitment. And I respect him.

Sadly, Holden doesn’t feel the same way about me.

I guess I can’t blame him. Cranking his gears has been the highlight of my stint in geek land. I’ve never seen anyone get riled about yogurt like him. He makes me laugh. And think. And want things I’d never thought possible.

So yeah, I’ll take that history lesson. And if it leads to something more, I’m in.

Love and History is a bi-awakening geek/jock romance featuring a messy law student, a picky professor, and a lesson neither will forget!

Title: Love and History
Authors: Lane Hayes
Length: 64K
Series: The Script Club, Book 6
Genre: Contemporary.
Tropes: Geek/Jock, Bi-awakening, enemies to lovers, roommates to lovers, romantic comedy.

An awkward silence stretched between us, making it difficult to breathe. I couldn’t do this. I couldn’t touch him. This wasn’t okay.

“Are you all right?”

I released my grip on his neck and sat beside him, wringing my hands fretfully. “No, I’m sorry. I can’t pretend that didn’t happen. I kissed you and—”

“And I liked it.”

Silence.

“You…I don’t—” I squinted as if that would help me understand him. “That was supposed to be a joke kiss.”

“Got it. I didn’t think it was real,” he replied logically. “We’re roommates.”

“I know,” I whispered.

Ezra cocked his head. “You want to do it again?”

Yes, I did. I one thousand percent wanted to kiss him again. I wanted to touch him too and—

Wait. He was joking.

“Why can’t you be serious about…anything?” I licked my lips nervously and plucked at my duvet.

“I am serious,” he replied with an inscrutable smile. “I told you I liked it. A lot.”

Still joking.

Or was he?

The scientist in me wanted to get off this roller coaster and dissect the moment the world tilted on its axis because something new was happening here. I could practically feel the sizzle of electricity in the air.

“It’s a bad idea. You don’t even like me, Ezra.”

He almost looked hurt as he shook his head and inched away from me.

“That’s so far from true, it isn’t funny. My problem is that I like you too much.”

“Huh?”

He frowned. “You know what? Let’s pretend I didn’t just say that. In fact, let’s agree to collective amnesia about…all of this. Although, let’s be real, a kiss isn’t really a big deal. People make out all the time—girl with guy, girl with girl, guy with guy. Sometimes it’s real, sometimes it’s an itch or an experiment. I met a cute girl on day one of Coachella and…”

I tuned him out as confusion wrestled with a tsunami of desire. I’d spent months ignoring my inexplicable attraction to this man. We were hostile and often waspish foes who couldn’t find common ground to communicate.

But I didn’t want to hear about other people he’d kissed.

I wanted…

I wanted—

I roughly grabbed his neck and crashed my mouth over his.

It’s fun, it’s cute, it’s jock/nerd but a little older. That in between age when they are done with college, or almost done with college, working on master’s degrees or waiting to take the bar exam. Kind of waiting for life to start, straddling the line between total adult and college kid.

And with that goes roommates. Because who can afford a place on their own nowadays? We also add in a bi awakening. Or a bi acting on it? Ezra had a good inkling that he was bi but he never acted on it. And never told anyone. In fact, his reason for not telling his bff was to not steal his thunder. Which is cute.

Ezra does some stupid things to get Holden to notice him more. Walking around in his underwear. Eating Holden’s food. Leaving a mess in the kitchen. He might has well have pulled Holden’s pig tails.

So of course Holden hates Ezra. Except he doesn’t. Because he is hot af. And a nice guy. And pretty smart.

The conflict was a little odd. I really didn’t get that whole student/boss situation. Didn’t make a ton of sense, mostly how the student acted.

Another jock/nerd cute story where the nerd is actually super hot and the jock and actually smart and they love happily ever after.

It was a decent book. I guess I am just over this trope.

Class Act by Gianni Holmes: Blog Tour, Exclusive Excerpt, New Release Review and Giveaway

October 31, 2022 by Denise

.                                  .

From USA Today Bestselling Author Gianni Holmes comes a new heartfelt, steamy, forbidden, teacher-student romance.

Abe Cooper is a triple threat.

He’s my best friend’s father.

He’s the football coach at my high school.

And he’s a married man

His marriage is on the rocks and he could lose his job for the way he looks at me.

I could lose my only friend in the world.

I know I should stay away instead of flirting with him.

But all the cons don’t outweigh how I feel when I’m with him.

When my home situation gets worse, Abe is there for me. But what we do under his roof when everyone’s asleep makes me feel guilty.

Now his daughter, my closest friend, knows he’s stepping outside his marriage and she’s hellbent to find out who I am.

How long can we keep us a secret and how dare we be happy together when it might hurt the ones we love?

Emery paused the television. “Abe.”

Maybe I shouldn’t have allowed him to use my first name after all. The way the syllable whispered from his lips sent a shiver down my spine.

I swallowed hard but didn’t respond.

“Do you want to talk about it?” he asked.

“Talk about what?”

“I didn’t mean to eavesdrop, but I heard.”

I frowned. “Heard what?”

“You and your wife arguing. I’m sorry she said those awful things to you.”

My face burned, and I glanced away. “Stay out of it.”

“I’m just trying to—”

“It’s none of your business, Emery. Drop it.”

Emery lowered his legs to the floor and got to his feet, letting the remote fall from his hand to the couch. “I’m sorry. I’ll just go.” His voice was full of hurt, and my chest ached for me to do something about it. To make him smile again.

Let him go, Abe.

I jumped up and grabbed Emery’s wrist. He jerked to a stop, but he kept his head turned away from me. He tried to tug his hand out of my grip, but I held on.

“I’m leaving you alone like you wanted, Abe.”

My heart pounded in my chest. “When did I ever say that?”

Seconds ticked by in silence. I moved closer to him, placed a trembling hand on his angular hip, and turned him to face me. His chest rose and fell, like he was struggling against his emotions.

“Do you want me to stay or not?” he asked.

Dammit, why was he so damn pretty?

“Let me go, Abe.”

“Do you really want me to?” He nodded, so I dropped his hand.

Emery rubbed his wrist. “Do you care about what I want?”

My nostrils flared. “What do you want?”

“To hug you.”

Before I could move, Emery wrapped his arms around me and pressed his face to my chest.

Push him away.

I raised my arms, but as if they had a mind of their own, they embraced him, one settling at his lower back and the other at his hip. I closed my eyes and swallowed the lump in my throat. Why was he made to fit me so well if he could never be mine?

“Emery,” I said softly. “I don’t know if I’m thinking straight.”

“What do you mean?” he whispered back.

“You heard it yourself. My marriage is in shambles, and I can’t be sure if this thing is merely a reaction rather than something real.”

Emery grabbed the back of my head and pulled it down, then captured my lips with his. Stunned, I stood stock still. Emery’s mouth moved over mine, and desire unleashed in my belly. With a groan, I pressed him closer to me and gripped his hip more tightly.

I ventured out of my comfort zone to review this book. I don’t do cheating…I know a lot of people don’t like to read it. But having been through it, I know how much it absolutely sucks to be the one cheated on. But I was intrigued otherwise, so I gave it an open minded chance. (Make sure you read the afterword from the author…made me feel so much better about the fact that I don’t like to read it, since the author has been through a similar situation.)

I’m not sure if I could have picked it up if it wasn’t obvious from the blurb that Abe was having problems in his marriage. And he was having lots of problems. I couldn’t blame him for wanting a divorce (that did not make the cheating okay, of course). He struggled to hide his feelings about Emery from himself, but the fact that Emery needed as much help as he did made it impossible for Abe to turn away from him. (Side note: Emery’s father…I would have dearly loved to see him get more than he did, but he still got a little of what he deserved. The car…that po’ed me almost as much as the other stuff. What a POS!)

ANYWAY, what I loved about Emery was his self confidence in himself. Most men his age in high school would not go out for cheerleading, wearing a skirt, being out. He couldn’t really hide it, but nevertheless, he was a courageous man. In many ways, he learned that from his father, because to live under that roof and come out alive, he had to be courageous. He also wasn’t afraid to show his vulnerable side to Abe, even if he didn’t share everything he should have. His best friend, after the initial shock, ended up being very positive about their relationship. The ex-wife, not so much, but who could blame her…and she was kinder than most people would have been in that circumstance.

This really was a love story, and as gut wrenching as it was personally, it was very well written, and kept it at a slow simmer for a while before the heat exploded. That was necessary for this story to have worked. I will admit that I had to read this in spurts, because some of it was tough for me to read. But still well written, and a good story about what felt like a real life situation.

Two Chicks Obsessed with Books and Eye Candy
My reviewSuck by Cora Rose and EM LindseyI really wish we could do half stars because this was a solid 4 1/2 for me. And I am not one to read monster or alien books. I did read the first couple of chapters of this when the teaser was released and I couldn't wait for the whole story. It's a post pandemic world and Everest has lost his parents and is living with a very strict aunt and uncle. There are some time jumps which are done really well. From when he first lost his parents up to when he turns 18 and can move out and finally present day when he is 21 and can "do his duty". And I can't say a lot about that because I will be censored but see title and I'm sure you can figure it out.At first Everest was intrigued. And then a little freaked out. Then angry. But he still followed through with what Rathyn wanted. Which was him basically at his beck and call. They definitely developed a relationship that went far past their original agreement even though it wasn't explicitly allowed. Everest didn't really know that at first because the alien world was kept from humans for the most part. Very little was known and what was known, humans had to sign an NDA.The world building was really well done. Both on Earth and Erethar. Earth sounded so desolate after the last pandemic but Erethar sounded just beautiful. What kept that 1/2 a star from my rating? Two things. First, Everest basically abandons his best friend. Yes, he does call and see him after a while- but it is after some time. These guys were bff. Moving into an apartment together when they turned 18, hanging out together all of the time, etc. Didn't seem right. And even though Everest identified as straight at the beginning he moved right into being bi (or gay or pan or whatever just not straight) with Rathyn and didn't do any questioning of it. I know, monster alien but still. A little soul searching maybe. So yes, I thought it was a super fun read that was sexy and swoony and kept me turning the pages. Can't wait for book 2!4 1/2 pieces of eye candy ... See MoreSee Less

✨Let’s celebrate! It’s release day for SUCK, a MM Monster Romance by @authoremlindsey &@coraroseauthor! Grab it in KU!#OneClickNowmybook.to/feedandfeastbook1Why you need to #ONECLICK this book…🔥Monster/human🔥MM Romance🔥Hurt/Comfort🔥Sexual Awakening🔥Monster Peen🔥Opposites Attract🔥First Times🔥Lots of Sucking🔥Body Piercings🔥Monster World🔥Power Dynamics🔥High HeatWhen portals from another world split open the sky, humanity braces for war… only to discover the monsters from Erethar aren’t here to conquer. They need something from humans. Something oddly specific in order to survive. And that's when the government begins recruiting for a ritual that sounds a lot like a cross-dimensional booty call.Normally an exclusivity contract with a monster called Rathyn of the Dark Vale would be a hard pass, but the more time I spend with him, the more I realize there’s more to this whole monster/human thing than what the government is telling us.I want to believe it’s nothing more than an arrangement, but the way he melts under my touch, and the way he’s constantly seeking more, makes me believe that maybe his fate is wrapped up in my own. It’s no longer about what I can do for him. It's about what we mean to each other.I’m Everest Hale, and I’m doing my part to save the world with my… Well, I’m not at liberty to discuss, but let’s just say it’s given with vigorous enthusiasm. You’re welcome, Earth.Suck is the first book in the MM Monster Romance series Feed and Feast. It contains a clueless human who’s just looking to do his duty for humanity, a naïve monster who has no idea how much humanity will change him, so much sucking, swooning, antagonists to lovers, cuddling as a love language, body piercings, secret romance, and a toe-curling happily ever after.#newbookalert #corarose #emlindsey #monsterromance The Author Agency ... Two Chicks Obsessed with Books and Eye Candy
✨EXCERPT: LICKED by @charlienwrites releasing May 12th!#PreOrderNowmybook.to/lickitoneThis was a date. A romantic date. One that I desperately wanted to go well. So well that Alfie might even be open to kissing me. That would be wonderful. I just couldn’t get my hopes up, because if it went badly, or even if there was no kissing, I’d be devastated. I tried to think about other things as I walked into town towards Vito’s, a small Italian restaurant in the middle of town where we’d agreed to go for dinner. I’d been there before quite a few times and always enjoyed the food, although it could get a little loud and overwhelming at the weekend when it was busy, simply due to the size of the space. But no matter what I tried to turn my thoughts to, they all came stubbornly back to Alfie and how I wanted tonight to go. Eventually I gave up trying to think of anything else, and instead let myself create a list of questions or talking points, just in case we ran out of things to say. Which seemed impossible considering how much we messaged, but it was always good to be prepared. When I rounded the corner to Vito’s, I stopped dead in my tracks, my eyes not fully processing what was in front of me. Alfie was stood just outside on the cobbles in a pair of cream trousers and a pale pink shirt, his honey-blond hair clearly styled… and a bouquet of deep red roses in his arms, wrapped in paper and tied with black ribbon. He looked so gorgeous it stole my breath, but the roses… I’d never had anyone bring me flowers before. #charlienovak #mmromance #kindleunlimited The Author Agency ... See MoreSee Less
