A blogger’s wish at this time of year…

December 4, 2015 by Denise

12351240_1741691062717206_1849908564_nA small warning: I’m likely about to upset some people (while others will agree), which is not my intent by any means, but as someone who has been running a book review blog for almost two years, I feel like this needs to be said, and hopefully heard. This isn’t meant as a cut on authors or blog tour companies. What it is intended to be is a reminder. A reminder that hopefully will engage some conversation. As a blogger, this is my holiday wish.

Dear Authors,

We as bloggers, (and I have spoken with several of them, so this is not just coming from the author of this blog post), adore so many of you, love reading your works, and love promoting those works when we can. Even those that we don’t know “personally”, or haven’t read, but we have promoted through blog tours, etc, our goal is to help you to be successful, as well.

That being said, please remember that as bloggers, we don’t get paid. If a reader stops by the blog, to read our review, or see our promotional post, we might get an affiliate click or two, but more than likely, not at all.

So, if we are hosting a blog tour stop, a cover reveal, or just a promo review, why would you not want to stop by and just say “thanks for hosting me”?

As a blogger, I can count the authors on about two hands that have done that. Despite having hosted hundreds of different blog stops, cover reveals, etc.

As an author, it should make sense. We are promoting you, because we want to, not because we have to. We want you to be successful, we want you to have any and all tools at your disposal to get your books out to the most readers. Does a blog tour work well? Who knows?

Maybe the issue is the “smaller blogs”. I know there are really big blogs, one comes to mind specifically, who gets a lot of exclusives, etc. And honestly, they deserve it, they work hard, and they get their info out to the most readers. But if you, as an author, are only stopping by the posts that are on the big blogs to say thanks, make comments, then you are missing, not only a lot of people, but blogs that are likely even more supportive of you than the big blogs. Often the small blogs are the ones posting your work several times, in many places, over multiple days.

I KNOW that you as an author are truly appreciative of what the bloggers do to help support and promote your work. Taking a few minutes out of your day to stop by and thank the blogs that are doing that for you, shows that appreciation.

So, the next time a blog hosts you, give them a little love. Maybe a retweet, or share. Or even more so, just a simple “Thanks for having me”. It would mean so much to us bloggers.

M/M Veterans Day Scavenge Hunt: Hosting Book Lovers 4Ever

November 21, 2015 by Denise

MM Veterans Day Scavenger Hunt

Welcome to the MM Veterans Day Scavenger Hunt

Today I am hosting Book Lovers 4Ever.

Thanks Wendy for joining us on the last day of the Scavenger Hunt!

Wendy’s Top 10 Books &/or Series Favorites for 2015

In no particular order- just my favorites so far. These are the books I’ve read this year but might not have been released this year, I’m new to the M/M genre.

Safety in Numbers (Sizzling Miami series) book 5 by Jessie G. – Loved Chris from the first time we met in the series, I was very excited to get his book. I look forward to the novella with more Chris.

Cronin’s Key (I, II & III) (Cronin’s Key series) by N.R. Walker– Umm vampires, what more can you ask for?? A sexy vampire who likes men…sold. Loved all three books.

Against the Grain (THIRDS #5) by Charlie Cochet- I think I love everything about this series. The humor and the sexy shifters. Oh and the Star Wars obsession, I know the feeling Dex. LOL (I love this entire series)

Wild Pitch, Curve Ball & Triple Play (Homeruns 1,2, & 3) by Sloan Johnson– different main characters in each book, but the characters making appearances in each book. I love that with series, I always want to know what is going on with the other characters. Big plus for me, it’s sports related, I like sexy athletic guys.

Cut & Run series (I read the whole series back to back) by Abigail Roux– enemies to friends to lovers- Oh these types of books are what I love about M/M books. The suspense and the WTF moments made me love this series.

Stay (Blackcreek series #2) by Riley Hart– Braden, one of the funniest characters and one man that needed someone to love him for him. He’s my favorite in this series.

Trust (Temptation series #3) by Ella Frank- Tate and Logan, there have been many GFY books that I’ve read but this trilogy is by far my favorite. There is something about these two men together that makes it seem like a true to life story to me.

Red Dirt Heart 4 (Red Dirt series) by N.R. Walker– Charlie and Travis- beginning to end I loved this book, I wanted so much for those two to find everlasting happiness.

Crossroads by Riley Hart– friends to lovers with GFY..I died and went to heaven with that combination.

Love Complicated by Teegan Loy– my first YA M/M book and I was very impressed with this book, I am ready for the second one. YA is not my favorite genre to read but I enjoyed this storyline

Rapid Fire Q&A

Chocolate/Vanilla- Chocolate all the way- love dark chocolate

Coke/Pepsi- COKE

Morning/Night- Night

Coffee/Tea- both, love coffee in the morning but I’m from the south, I love my sweet tea

Summer/Winter- Winter, the colder the better **TCO note here: Wendy lives in Nevada…she would have a different answer if she lived where Denise from TCO lives, Wisconsin…just sayin**

Hot Summer Reads: Fun in the Sun

June 21, 2015 by Denise

hot summer mm reads

The first day of summer! Lazy days, sitting in the sun, hopefully snuggled up to your e-reader, and having your own version of fun. Two Chicks Obsessed wanted to bring you our version of a sinfully delicious ice cream cone, in the form of some great summer readers suggested to us by some of your favorite authors. These are books that are set in the summer, by the beach, etc. So, take a look through all of them, one click and just enjoy sometime in the sun!

A Restored Man by Jaime Reese

Cole Renzo thinks his greatest challenge is to behave for the remainder of his term at Halfway House. Until he meets his new boss, Ty Calloway, a man who ticks off every box on Cole’s list of interests.

A sought-after restorer and customizer of exotic and collectible cars, Ty had enough confidence to command what he wanted in life, until one fateful night changed everything. Almost two years later, he’s slowly rebuilding his life with great control. He’s defied the odds and works tirelessly to be the man he once was—but he still feels broken.

Cole’s candor and unfiltered personality awaken Ty’s barely-remembered desire to greet each new day with a smile, while Ty’s unwavering acceptance of Cole’s quirks and brash humor makes Cole feel as if he fits in for the first time in far too long. When a nemesis threatens Ty’s personal restoration and the things he holds dear, Cole is determined to protect their relationship, even if that means sacrificing everything he’s worked so hard to achieve.

But Ty will have to let his guard down, surrender control, and admit he needs Cole first, even if that puts himself at risk of breaking beyond repair.

Accompanied by a Waltz by Andrew Grey

Jonathon Pfister’s life has settled into a maudlin existence since the death of Greg, his lover of seventeen years. But Greg’s daughter Jeana has decided she’s had enough, so she rents a small apartment in Vienna for him as a Father’s Day present. Jonathon agrees to go, against his better judgment. Surprisingly, Jonathon finds the change of scenery refreshing, and he even makes a young friend in Hans, his landlady’s son. Then Hans’s older brother returns home, and Jonathon begins to truly awaken. Fabian touches something inside him, especially when the younger man takes it upon himself to woo Jonathon in full Viennese style, with a waltz. But shadows of the past and expectations for the future loom over them both and will have to be banished for their lovers’ dance to stay in step.

Cowboys Down by Barbara Elsborg

Stockbroker meets stock breaker. But who’s taming whom?

London stockbroker Jasper Randolph flies to Jackson Hole with hopes as high as the Grand Tetons. Hope that the getaway will force him to let loose, get dirty, and overcome a deep-seated phobia about horseback riding.cowboys down

He hadn’t counted on an attraction to the dude ranch owner’s son, a man with sun-tousled hair, eyes bluer than Wyoming skies…and a father who’d rather eat tofu than accept his only son’s sexuality.

The moment Calum lays eyes on the uptight, buttoned-down Brit, he’s lost. But with his own saddlebags full of emotional baggage, he knows he should be looking at anything but Jasper’s spotless riding boots and tight-fitting jodhpurs. Trouble is, Jasper makes his heart buck like a wild horse trying to break free.

Despite the differences that set them oceans apart, they fall hard and fast. Trouble isn’t far behind, and they’re in for a rocky romantic ride. Especially since there’s growing evidence that someone is willing to do anything—no matter how dangerous—to poison their love.

Warning: Mix one sun-bronzed cowboy with a yummy Brit who’d give Darcy in his wet shirt a run for his money. Mix gently. Try not to drool.

Snowcroft Safehouse by Christi Snow

A year ago Declan Jasper was entertaining sold-out arena crowds as the lead singer of Black Rainbows. But that came to an explosive end when the band got caught up in a criminal cover-up, one that ended with the entire band dead. At least that’s what everyone is supposed to think.

Now, Dex is hiding in plain sight, working as the school band director in a sleepy little mountain resort town while under the protection of a hard-nosed FBI agent. Instead of eyeliner and black leather, he now wears glasses and corduroy. Instead of having sexy coeds—both male and female—throw themselves into his bed, he’s dealing with teenage angst and grumpy parents.

At the top of his troubles list is Kelsey Walker, a junior high bundle of rare musical talent in the form of one confused, messed-up adolescent. Dex figures the problem comes from her broken home and wants to help. But when he meets her father, sexy bar-owner, Jack Walker, he realizes that instead of helping he’s probably just bringing more trouble and danger to their door.

Dex has to stay alive until the trial to bring his bandmates’ murderers to justice, but can he do that if it means sacrificing his own happily ever after?

My review:Shadows Never Leave (Shadows duet book 2) by Lark TaylorThis is book 2 of a duet and you must read book 1 first...a.co/d/06h9mALvThis one was a bit tough for me. Mostly because I enjoyed book 1 so much I was expecting more from book 2.A note that cheating doesn't really bother me in books. But I felt that having Ryan engaged when Dominic returns was a bit too much...After 10 years Dom (and Max) are back. Dom wants to win Ryan back. Max wants his twin back in his life. But Ryan isn't that 18 year old kid anymore. And he isn't taking anyone's crap either.Dom is totally annoying at first. Ryan jokingly calls him a stalker, but there were stalker vibes there. Which fit with his personality but still.Too much of the book is them just rehashing what happened when Dom left and the fact that they have had zero communication in that time. Over and over and over again. It got to the point where I was ready to throw my kindle if Ryan said "BUT YOU LEFT!" one more time. And it is sooooooo obvious that he and his fiance Katie don't belong together. They liked each other. Probably loved each other. And they were the type of couple to make it work and make it look perfect on the outside. But they would have ended up miserable. So yes, we get the HEA. But we had to trudge through some mud to get there.3 pieces of eye candy ... See MoreSee Less

New release and my review for:Seven Minutes by Raquel Riley At times this was a difficult read for me (stress for ME). But that didn't make it a bad book. Quite the contrary. Any book that stirs feelings in you is a book that hits home.We aren't yet privy to the relationship between Adrian and Eli when a horrific car accident brings Eli to Adrian's emergency room. (maybe a nitpick here but how did none of the staff know it was his husband??) The title refers to the 7 minutes after you die when your brain is still functioning. Which is really kind of scary to me. But it is through those 7 minutes of recollection by Eli that we get most of the back story.Being that this is a romance, I don't think it is much of a spoiler that Eli survives. But what comes next is picking up the pieces of their lives, and more importantly, their marriage. There are fights and apologies and explanations.... Eli is still ready to give up despite his love for Adrian. Adrian is not giving up because of his love of Eli.You don't appreciate what you have until you lose it. Or almost lose it.4 Pieces of Eye CandyOne click here 👉 a.co/d/0e1X1vOC ... See MoreSee Less
