Sharing our love of M/M Romance

Tried & True by Charlie Cochet: New Release Review with Giveaway

November 24, 2017 by Denise

When THIRDS agent Dexter J. Daley met Team Leader Sloane Brodie, he couldn’t have imagined how slamming into his new partner—literally—would shake both their worlds. Now four years later, they’ve faced dangers, fought battles both personal and professional… and fallen deeply in love. Now their big moment is finally in sight, and they’re ready to stand up together and make it official. Unfortunately, as the countdown to their big day begins, an enemy declares war on the THIRDS….

With their family in danger, Dex and Sloane are put to the test on how far into darkness they’ll walk to save those they love. As secrets are unearthed, a deadly betrayal is revealed, and Dex and Sloane must call on their Destructive Delta family for one last hurrah to put an end to the secret organization responsible for so much devastation.

Dex and Sloane will have plenty of bullets to dodge on the way to the altar, but with happiness within their grasp, they are determined to get there come hell or high water….

My reading time lately has been cut severely because…life. So, I am only reading the books that I want to read. And there was absolutely NO CHANCE I wasn’t going to be reading Tried & True (btw, love the color reference on the cover!!!!) by Charlie, the final book in the THIRDS series (but not even close to the last book with Dex and Sloane…I talked to Charlie in October, and she is working on a new series regarding the TIN adventures that Destructive Delta has ahead of them!)

This is the THIRDS book that all THIRDS Nerds have been waiting for, the wedding between these two men who started their working relationship with Dexter Daley hanging upside down, and have spent years learning how to love each other. This was all worth the wait, and honestly made me want to go back and start all over again, from Hell & High Water.

There were a few adventures in this book-how those men didn’t arrive at the altar by wheelchair is beyond me-but in the end, it was about celebrating a love that has grown and changed, been hidden then outed, helped them find a family they never knew, and bring about quite a few sexy times. And donuts, lots of donuts. In other words, what we read in that book was the culmination of 4 years, 10 books and countless tears (at least by me!), although most of the ones from this one were happy.

I won’t tell you about the wedding, because if you are a true THIRDS NERD, you will want to read it all on your own, but it is worth every word, every second, and every happy tear.

Thank you Charlie for an amazing journey with these guys, and I can’t wait to see what their next adventure will bring.

Congrats, Charlie, on your finale, and thanks for the good review, Denise. You captured well what a lot of us are thinking. And unlike some TV shows where the finale is pretty lame, this sounds like it continues the high quality of the series.

✨TEASER: THESE SECRET YEARS by @authoraugustjones releasing August 28! #PreOrderNow mybook.to/TSYWhy you will love this book…🏈college football star x music prodigy🎼forbidden love/secret affair🏈high angst🎼opposites attract🏈grumpy/ sunshine🎼rich boy/poor boy🏈coming of age🎼who did this to you?🏈hurt/comfort🎼mm romanceFour years of keeping secrets, telling lies, and finding the love of a lifetimeSullivanThey say I have a gift because music is as easy as breathing for me. The true gift, however, is the first breath of freedom I’ve had in years—college, bought and paid for by the man who holds my future in his greedy, roaming hands. The first weekend away from him is everything I ever dreamed college would be—a chance to live my own life, form true friendships, and then there’s Knight Winters. The incoming quarterback at our new school who grew up in my hometown is a surprise to me in every way. He makes me question everything. My sexuality, my future, and every mistake I’ve ever made.KnightBecoming the starting quarterback at this school is all part of a plan set in motion since I was old enough to hold a football. As the son of a football giant, playing in the NFL has always been the dream. Here at the University of Southern Missouri, I’m on my way to making it come true. The only thing I have to give up is who I am. I’ve known I was gay for as long as I can remember, but it’s the secret I have to keep to have the life I’ve always wanted.Meeting Sullivan wasn’t part of the plan. From that first night, the attraction, the chemistry, the instant connection has been impossible to push aside and pretend none of it matters. He’s brilliant, he’s beautiful, and he has secrets, too, secrets that are on the verge of breaking him. My obsession ebbs and flows with the seasons here at school, but when we’re back in our hometown, I find myself with a choice I never thought I’d have to make: whether football can give me the ... Two Chicks Obsessed with Books and Eye Candy
My review:The Long Way Back: Calder Ridge Book 1 by CJ ChambersThere was nothing inherently wrong with this story. But it just wasn't deep enough. At all.24 years after he walked away to join the military, Jack is back to where he used to live. And he just pops up into his old boyfriend's gym like no big whoop. And Luke, the old boyfriend, isn't all that put out. He is more impressed with how good Jack looks. They pretty much fall right back into a relationship but it's on the down low. Not cool. And Jack has...issues. Which really aren't fully explored. At all. Just kind of says he'll change.I guess what was really lacking was the passion. Passion either way. Being incredibly mad and hurt that he left and never contacted Luke again or thrilled that he is back. For two men who believe each other is their great love- not a lot of that shows.Very ho hum.3 Pieces of Eye Candy The Author Agency ... See MoreSee Less
