Mr. Romance (Franklin U Series, Book 3) by Louisa Masters: RB, Excerpt, Release Day Review and Giveaway

September 9, 2022 by Denise

.                              .

When you’re clueless, Mr. Romance can help.

Charlie

I’m not sure how it happened, but it turns out I’ve unknowingly been dating three people.

Friends don’t spoil other friends, apparently. My trust fund means I can afford to, though, and what’s a meal here and there? Or some clothes? Or textbooks? That doesn’t mean we’re dating, right?

Others disagree. If I want to get through the rest of college knowing who my friends are, I need help from someone who knows all about dating and can tell me what not to do.

Someone like Mr. Romance.

Liam

When people look at me, romance is the last thing they think of… but I’m still the first person they call. Need a first date planned? A big romantic moment? Gotta beg for forgiveness? I’m your man. When it comes to romance, I’ve got it handled.

Not personally, though. My romantic life is… barren. All I really want is someone to snuggle with and spoil me. What I’ve got is planning dates for people who have no clue about romancing someone.

But now I’m somehow Charlie Martin’s anti-romance consultant. Charlie, who’s completely clueless yet the most accepting and friendly person I’ve ever met. Who’s giving and generous. Who’s befriended me and wants me to be happy.

I’m supposed to help him stop his friends from falling for him. The last thing I need is to fall for him myself.

“I really don’t understand what I’m doing here,” the guy—Charlie?—protests.

“I told you, I’m gonna introduce you to Mr. Romance. You know about Mr. Romance, right?” Ian says.

Charlie nods solemnly. “The guy people pay to plan dates for them? Everyone knows about Mr. Romance. He’s a legend.” His gaze lands on me and Matt, bounces back and forth between us, and then settles on Matt. “It’s great to meet you. I’m a big fan of your work. Well, of stories of your work.”

Matt shakes his head. “I really don’t think you are.”

I roll my eyes and get up. “My work.”

He turns his gaze to me and gives me a doubtful once-over. I know what he’s seeing: short and pale, with an untamable mop of ashy-colored hair. I’ve tried cutting it super-short. That really showed off my bone structure, which wasn’t a good thing. I used to be bony too, but thankfully gymnastics has helped me build muscle. I’m kinda ripped now.

Too bad nobody but me gets to see it.

Either way, I don’t look like everyone’s romantic ideal.

“Yours?” he asks.

“Yeah. I’m Mr. Romance. Liam Rigby.” I start to hold out my hand to shake, then make myself drop it. Nobody shakes hands in college unless they’re going for a job interview. Except me, apparently.

“Charlie Martin,” he says automatically. “Really? You’re Mr. Romance?”

Wow. Rude, much?

Ian groans. “Charlie, don’t piss him off. You need his help.”

I want to make a snarky comment and walk away, because fuck him, but I’m not dumb enough to turn down a paying job. I make a lot of money from being Mr. Romance, and I don’t even charge that much. It just turns out that a lot of guys hate planning dates. Some girls, too.

This guy, though, I’m going to charge double. Maybe even triple. He’s interrupting gym time and being a dick while he’s at it.

“Got a big date planned?” I ask, mentally flipping through my schedule. As long as it’s not for this weekend, I can probably fit him in. Unless he wants something super elaborate.

To my surprise, he shakes his head so vehemently, he almost falls over. “No. No dates. I’m not dating anyone right now, no matter what they say.”

Oh-kay.

I look at Ian. “Why is he here?”

“Because he’s a sweet, sweet moron.” Ian kicks off his sneakers and starts stretching.

“Hey!” Charlie sounds insulted, but then pouts and shakes his head. “It might be true, but words hurt, man.”

These books are definitely fun. I love the overlap of characters and stories. This is book three and while I liked it ok, it is my least favorite so far. The how and why of Charlie needing Liam’s help was…odd. It just didn’t make sense to me at all.

Ok, so Charlie is adorable. He is super friendly, loves people. But apparently people think they are dating Charlie when Charlie thinks they are just friends. If this happened once, I would totally buy it. But it apparently goes back to high school. And he had no idea.

How do all these people think they are dating Charlie when there is nothing physical going on? Ok, yes, he tends to pay for things (his family is very well off), likes to spend time with people, and is very attentive. But how can you think you are even casually dating when there is no hand holding, cuddling, kissing? So that was a bit far-fetched for me.

After I got past that, I really enjoyed Charlie and Liam slowly becoming a couple. Without them knowing it. HAHAHAHA! To be fair, there is hand holding, cuddling, kissing and more. But since they slapped a FWB label on it, they are both clueless.

They are seriously so cute together, while cluelessly pining for each other. Everyone around them can see it, but they are blind. Watching them figure it out is hilarious.

Louisa Masters started reading romance much earlier than her mother thought she should. While other teenagers were sneaking out of the house, Louisa was sneaking romance novels in and working out how to read them without being discovered. She’s spent most of her life feeling sorry for people who don’t read, convinced that books are the solution to every problem. As an adult, she feeds her addiction in every spare second, only occasionally tearing herself away to do things like answer the phone and pay bills.

Louisa has a long list of places first discovered in books that she wants to visit, and every so often she overcomes her loathing of jet lag and takes a trip that charges her imagination. She lives in Melbourne, Australia, where she whines about the weather for most of the year while secretly admitting she’ll probably never move.

Wildfire (In Vino Veritas) by Garrett Leigh: Release Day Review

September 8, 2022 by Denise

.                                  .

A gorgeous new sexual awakening romance with sizzling first times, snarky British banter, and off-the-charts chemistry.

Life doesn’t always pan out as you expect. When it explodes in my face, literally, an old friend offers me a place to heal and a job renovating the kitchen of Burlington’s coolest wine bar.

V&V is a chill fest. Living above it should be a blast. But I’m not built to be a social butterfly. Not anymore. I’m a damaged man.

And I’m not its target clientele.

At least, I think I’m not until I come face to face with the most beautiful human I’ve ever seen. Joss is the new chef and my roommate. He has hair like spun gold and it’s as pretty as the rest of him. Crystal blue eyes. Megawatt smile.

I can’t stop staring. Or thinking about him. He chases my nightmares away. And when he spots my crush a mile off, his solution to our chemical attraction blows my mind.

An experiment of sorts. Science. Is this sexual exploration or sex education?

Either way, Joss is only here for the summer. He’s leaving.

I can’t fall in love with him.

I can’t.

Shame my foolish heart never got the memo.

WILDFIRE is a heartfelt MM friends-to-lovers, hurt/comfort romance in the True North world, with a brooding lumbersexual, a wild-hearted chef, sweet angst and all the Vermont food. Content warning: contains mentions of depression, ADHD, suicidal ideation, and PTSD recovery.

Amazon – Kindle Unlimited – All Regions

Goodreads

I am a big fan of Garrett Leigh. Often dark and gritty, definitely not what you would call light hearted. But those are my jam. I love a good messed up character. And these guys were messed up, but not in a way I’ve come to expect. Not a bad thing at all.

Let’s discuss. First, almost all of Garrett Leigh’s books are set in the UK. This one is part of the In Vino Veritas world so it is set in Vermont. One of the characters, Joss, is British. The other, Kai, is Vermont born and bred. What struck me a little funny is how often the Americans say “Dude”. I mean, we really do say dude. Probably too often. But it didn’t really fit the vibe of the characters to me. It doesn’t take away from the story at all, but I couldn’t NOT say something. Dude.

Kai has some serious PTSD from an incident not even a year ago when he worked mountain rescue. Ironically, the incident happened on his way home from work. He has left that job and another former mountain rescue guy, Tanner (from Heartscape, another book by Garrett Leigh in the In Vino Veritas world) pulls him back from the brink of mental health collapse and is a support to him in more ways than one.

Joss, self described wanderer, chef and friend of Tanner’s husband lands at the bar to head up the new kitchen there. And to share an apartment with Kai.

How are these guys “messed up”? Well besides Kai’s PTSD that is triggered by things that have nothing to do with what happened, he is also straight. But Joss is so pretty with his long blonde hair and blue eyes. Joss has pretty severe ADHD and nonverbal Tourette’s Syndrome. And while that mostly manifests when he is sleeping or soon after waking up in the morning, it can still pop up.

I loved that ADHD was described in a completely different way than what so many people think it is. Being hyper focused. Or completely zoning out. Or going down a google rabbit hole because he couldn’t remember what he was originally looking up. Burning food, or pots, or kitchens, because he forgot what he was doing. And there is no way to predict any of those things. AND he is medicating twice daily.

Both guys are really down on themselves about these issues that they have no control over. Joss’s ADHD/Tourette’s doesn’t bother Kai in the least. In fact, he kind of steps in quietly to help steer Joss in the right direction when he can. And Joss’s presence in the apartment alone helps Kai. And even though he is straight, he feels such a strong connection with Joss.

Their connection and subsequent relationship, such as it is, is so organic. Nothing is forced. Even formerly straight Kai just kind of goes with it. He questions things, but those questions don’t seem to hold him back.

I loved these guys. Seeing ADHD through Joss’s eyes was enlightening. And Kai’s PTSD that slowly gets better, but will probably never go away.

Must read for any Garrett Leigh fan.

Sapphire Spring (Sapphire Cove Book 2) by C. Travis Rice: Release Blitz, Excerpt and Release Day Review

September 7, 2022 by Denise

.                             .

Under his new pen name, C. Travis Rice, New York Times bestselling author Christopher Rice offers tales of passion, intrigue, and steamy romance between men. The second novel, SAPPHIRE SPRING, once again transports you to a beautiful luxury resort on the sparkling Southern California coast where strong-willed heroes release the shame that blocks their heart’s desires.

Naser Kazemi has never met a problem a good spending plan couldn’t fix. But working as the chief accountant for his best friend’s resort isn’t turning out to be the dream job he’d hoped for. It doesn’t help that his fashion designer sister is planning an event that just might bring Sapphire Cove crashing down all around them. When the wild party unexpectedly reunites him with Mason Worther, the gorgeous former jock who made his high school experience a living hell, things go from bad to seductive.

The former golden boy’s adult life is a mess, and he knows it’s time to reform his hard partying ways. But for Mason, cleaning up his act means cleaning up his prior misdeeds. And he plans to start with Naser, by submitting to whatever the man demands of him to make things right. The offer ignites an all-consuming passion both men have denied for years. But can they confront their painful past without losing each other in the process?

“I won’t be here long. I’ve got to get to work.” Naser set the papers in front of Mason and gestured for him to read. Mason skimmed, recognizing the bare bones of an investment agreement. Some of the language seemed boilerplate, and some of it seemed pure Naser. Once he had the gist of it, Mason set the contract down. “I thought your sister didn’t need investors.”

Naser smiled. “Far be it from me to deny a man a chance at redemption.”

“As far as we are from Saturday morning, apparently. No offense, but this is one of the worst investment agreements I’ve ever seen, Naser. The rate of return is basically zero. And the dollar amounts and schedule are both blank.”

Naser smiled and sank into the chair he’d declined a moment before. “The investor in question knows nothing about the fashion industry and has not expressed a desire to learn. In light of that, giving the investor any sort of creative control over the business in question would be a grievous mistake for all involved. Further, the investor’s motives for investing lie far outside any concerns that could be considered…businesslike.”

“The investor is sitting right here, and he doesn’t remember making any of these statements. Also, I think it’s cute that you start sentences with further out loud and not just in emails.”

Naser raised one eyebrow. “The investor is known to have a spotty memory. And there are suggestions he has issues with reliability and consistency as well, so any proposed payment schedule should be…dramatically shortened.”

“The investor has questions,” Mason said.

Naser spread his hands in a welcoming gesture.

“Did you reconsider my offer because you got more info about the state of your sister’s business after you left my house?”

“Are you bisexual?”

Mason flinched. Naser’s stony expression said that had been his intention—and that his sister most certainly did need new investors. “How are those two questions related?”

“We’re only sitting here because for three years you and your buddies subjected me to a form of sexual harassment that’s still considered semi-acceptable in most secondary school settings.”

Mason took a deep breath. The door was still closed. And locked.

“Yes. I’m bisexual.”

Naser seemed startled by the direct answer. He nodded slowly, his tongue making a lump under his upper lip. As if this whole thing would have been easier for him if Mason had deflected or lied, and now he was having to reassess.

“So Fareena wasn’t just busting my balls. Your sister really needs money, doesn’t she?”

Naser smoothed invisible lint off the thighs of his slacks. “I knew you were bisexual,” he muttered.

“Then why did you ask?”

“I don’t know, maybe you were gay and closeted. But Fareena’s Fareena. She’s not going to waste time on a guy that doesn’t have a genuine attraction to her.”

“So I repeat, why did you—”

“Do your buddies know?” Naser was staring at him, eyes blazing with anger.

The question knocked Mason back in his chair an inch. “Tim’s been dead five years.”

Naser looked to the carpet. “I’m sorry.”

“You don’t need to be. He was terrible to you. The Coach Harris email was all his idea.”

Naser drew a deep breath. “Thanks for letting me off the hook, I guess. How did he pass away?”

“Pills. He always said they were for a sports injury from USC, but he warmed the bench the whole time, so that story never made sense. I think he really liked pills. We’re not sure if it was deliberate or if he overshot the mark. There wasn’t a note, but his life wasn’t in a great place.”

Remembering those last few visits with Tim now that he was trying to get sober was more painful than he’d anticipated. Back then, Mason had thought he’d had his shit together, and by comparison to his old friend, who’d dropped out of college and was working odd handyman jobs for his uncle’s contracting company, it had certainly seemed that way. He and Chadwick had even talked about hauling Tim into a rehab—over beers.

Naser nodded, and a silence fell. A silence that, like everything else between them, seemed to bend the laws of time.

“And Chadwick Brody?” Naser’s voice was drawstring tight, but his gaze was steady and penetrating, full of the unspoken recognition that Chadwick had always been the worst out of the three.

“He’s still around.”

Naser was staring at him, waiting for him to say something further. Sensing, it seemed, that Mason’s answer hadn’t been complete or entirely truthful. But maybe expressing hesitation or shame around the topic of Chadwick was what Naser needed to see.

“And no, he doesn’t know that I’m bi. And yes, if you were to walk out of here right now and share this information with the world, you could really screw up my already screwed-up life. Especially with the man down the hall.”

“I’d never do that.”

“I wouldn’t blame you if you did.”

For a second, Mason thought the guy might soften toward him.

“I know what it feels like to be outed before you’re ready,” Naser said. “I’d never inflict that on someone else.”

“We didn’t out you. Everything we did was wrong, but it wasn’t like we knew for sure that you were gay.”

“Yes, you did. You knew every time I looked at you. That’s why you did it.”

Was Naser admitting to having been as hot for Mason as Mason had been for him?

Maybe so, because Naser looked away before Mason did.

Mason picked up the contract. He did some quick math in his head, quick enough that he couldn’t think too long and hard about the consequences of what he was about to do. He wrote down a figure, followed by a schedule, then he flipped to the signature page and signed his name. Pari Kazemi, he saw, had yet to add her own.

When he handed the contract back to Naser, the guy read Mason’s additions and went stone still.

“A lump sum payment of one hundred grand on signing?” Naser sounded winded. Mason nodded. “You don’t have to buy my silence, Mason.”

“I’m not trying to buy anything. I’m trying to make this right.”

Naser swallowed and looked to the paper again as if he thought his eyes were deceiving him. “Okay, well, obviously nothing’s final until my sister countersigns.”

“I’ll be here if anyone has questions.”

“Proof of funds would be nice.”

“You saw the house.”

Naser stood. “It’s not your house. I did a title check.”

Mason laughed breathily. “Well, you’re good at your job. I can have proof of funds to you by the end of the week.”

“Good. I’m not saying a word to her until after then. I don’t want to get her hopes up.”

Naser turned and headed for the door. Mason figured his speed was an effort to conceal any evidence of his gratitude.

“Naser.”

He stopped, fingers resting on the knob. They both seemed frozen by knowledge that if Naser opened the door even a crack before they were done talking, he might let some of Mason’s secrets spill out into the world.

“What was the worst thing we did?” Mason asked as gently as he could.

Mason prepared himself for another verbal strike. But when Naser turned to him, head slightly bowed, he saw the man was struggling to swim through a sea of painful memories, struggling to get his arms around one without drowning, and the twist in Mason’s gut felt almost as bad as a hangover.

Sapphire Spring, the second book in the Sapphire Cove trilogy, is not nearly as long as Sapphire Sunset. The first book, while long, didn’t feel that way, and this one, a full 100 pages shorter, didn’t feel long enough to me. 🙂 I was very excited for Naser’s story! This new series, under the pseudonym of C. Travis Rice is quite a departure from Christopher Rice‘s usual books, but I am very much enjoying them. They are incredibly well written, and have characters who seem as real as your neighbors, with how richly they are written. And although it is a series, these can definitely be read as stand alones.

While this is a romance, it has a lot of layers that really hit me hard, and I had to put the book down a few times. These are not easy topics, and considering how Mason treated Naser, finding redemption is not easy. Mason has an addiction, and while hiding his true self may have caused him to do the things he did in high school, Naser still bears those scars. As I said, I did need to put the book down more than once, because some of it was just challenging for me to get through, because it broke my heart.

Naser leads a nice quiet life, surrounded by the people he loves, and a job he enjoys. But Naser has layers of scar tissue, and therefore he doesn’t trust easily. It must be earned. Seeing Mason again, naturally, brings up lots of complicated emotions, and it isn’t an easy reunion. While the chemistry is there, with Mason having regretted his actions, and always wanting to connect with Naser, there are a lot of complex issues to work through. They are not ones solved in one scene, nor should they be. The author takes you through this with an intensity of emotion through his words that really hits you right in the heart.

It is a lovely romance, filled with complex characters, and issues that cannot be solved instantly. However, so well written, it’s difficult to put down–except for the parts where your heart is torn to shreds…as is appropriate for this story. If you haven’t read the first book, please do so, as it is fantastic as well, but this one…this one might just give you that book hangover you’ve been craving.

Highly recommend.

Tide To You (Destination Daddies Season Two) by JJ Harper: New Release Review

September 5, 2022 by Denise

.                                 .

When a much-needed holiday turns into so much more than sun and sand.
Hudson
Why have I even entered that competition? I never win anything. Ever.
Colour me surprised I won a weeklong holiday in a resort for Daddies and boys. And at the right time too.

A break from work.
A break from bad choices.
A break from being seen only as a sugar Daddy.

The Hôtel Plaisir looks the perfect place to unwind, relax, and have some fun. Even more perfect is the beautiful young man waiting for me. He’s everything I’ve ever looked for. He’s also the host for the week, which makes him out of bounds.
Doesn’t it?

Yannick
The chance to organise my own event and prove to my father I can be trusted to run our family hotel landed in my hands thanks to Cuffd and their competition. The winner gets an all-inclusive week at our resort.

I didn’t expect him to be my dream Daddy.
I didn’t expect to hurt so much when he played with the other boys.
I didn’t expect to give myself to a man who will leave.

But it is too good to pass up. Even if it breaks my father’s trust.

Tide to You is part of the Destination Daddies Season Two multi-author series. It features an older, jaded Daddy and a boy who knows he has more to lose than his heart. Each book can be read as a standalone, but there are so many destinations and Daddies to discover, why not grab them all?

Amazon – Kindle Unlimited – All Regions

This story sounded like a fun little romp. And it definitely started out that way, but then got a bit serious. Which made it disjointed.

Yannick is part owner of a hotel with his father. It was originally owned by both of his fathers until an ugly break up. So while Yannick basically runs the hotel, his father and his father’s partner micromanage him constantly. To prove his worth, he organized a special week for Daddies and boys. All unattached and wanting to have a fun week at a gorgeous hotel with a pool, activities, playrooms and the beach.

Hudson enters a contest to win the stay at the hotel for free that week. It was done after half a bottle of wine and on a whim. So he completely forgot until he found out he won.

Hudson does enjoy some boys when he first. But he is drawn to Yannick. They cannot fight their chemistry. They spend the rest of the week falling in love. Oh, and having LOTS of sex. There’s a bit of a kerfuffle with another guest, but that is quickly taken care of and isn’t a plot point at all. We see that same guest later in the book. But again, his presence doesn’t seem to fit into the plot.

So you think, that’s it. Cute little vacation romance and they magically figure out how to make life work when they are in two different countries. Instead we get another whole plot involving embezzlement, Yannick’s bio father (the one to leave when the relationship fell apart), Hudson’s best friend, dealing with Hudson’s company and on and on. It seemed like the embezzlement storyline was tacked on to make the book longer. It was just odd.

I hope that wasn’t too spoilery. None of this is mentioned in the blurb. That makes you think it is a lighthearted vacation HEA. But the whole arc of the story is more than that, without it being enough. It needed to be meatier.

Mother Parker by Rhys Everly: New Release Review

September 4, 2022 by Denise

.                                 .

Divorced. Beaten down. A failure. Until a ray of sunshine comes into my life…

People call me Officer Grumpypants, but wouldn’t you be if life kept knocking you down?

My life is an endless sh*t list that I can’t even begin to unravel.

It all started when my parents died.

It continued when I was forced to sell my house.

And it all came to an epic conclusion when my wife walked out on me.

What I need is to get my mind in order and my life back on track.

So when my old commander offers me a job in Mayberry Holm, I grab the opportunity by the balls.

I’m ready to put my head down and my hands to work.

What I wasn’t planning though was becoming pet food for crows by this infuriating little man who throws seeds at my face.

Or being hired to help said man with his new store.

Or having to protect him from a bunch of criminals that prey on his softness and sweetness.

Even though he drives me insane, I can’t stop thinking of him. And even though he’s annoyingly cheerful, I can’t help but smile around him.

Or fantasize about him doing… naughty things to me.

What the hell is happening to me? Am I falling for the young, bubbly, pink-haired man? And is it too late to stop it?

Welcome to Mayberry Holm, a small island in the Atlantic full of crime, secrets and happily-ever-afters, and the ex-Navy SEALs that come to deal with them all.

Amazon – Kindle Unlimited – All Regions

Okay, new series! Protector, opposites, Navy SEALs? Why would I turn this down?

Nay… I didn’t….

Okay, so… Parker, nicknamed by his own sister, Officer Grumpypants, or something silly but accurate, was really hard for me to like. I didn’t for a good bit of this book, I’ll be honest.
It was almost like he took douchey-ness to extra douchy-ness… but he grew on me.
He grew on me mostly because I liked how he eventually was with Hwan.

Hwan… I loved immediately. He’s the sun to Parker’s gloom, living his best, albeit somewhat lonely life, he was content. I liked that he didn’t let Parker’s disposition get him down and when someone is threatening his bubble tea shop, the protector Parker, sets out to find who’s responsible.

I will admit that for a first book, I did feel a little out of the loop at times… like there was something I was missing or maybe should’ve read first, but I didn’t find out about the sneak peek until I’d finished and read other reviews to see if maybe I missed something.

I wish someone would’ve told me sooner, but meh…

It was a fun little roller coaster ride through the isle of Mayberry, and I’m really excited to see who’s next!

“I’m not ready for this,” Darius muttered into his coffee mug.

He and Gray stood on the porch as four vehicles rolled up. Just as Gray and Darius had finished their chores for the day. Every animal had been fed, the dogs and the kids had been dropped off at Darius’s folks’ house after school and day care, and—

Whoa.

Gray let out a laugh as a dance song from the ’90s blared out of Case and Boone’s truck. They were the first to park, right next to the Wagoneer, followed by Ryan’s truck.

Case jumped out with an actual boombox on his shoulder and bobbed his head to the beat.

Ethan and Avery emerged from Ryan’s truck too.

Gray didn’t actually know exactly who was showing up today. He’d been told it wasn’t mandatory; it was basically a briefing for the bachelor party activities that would take place this week, and Ryan and Avery were in contact with everyone. And those who didn’t have anything better to do today could stop by.

“Jesus,” Darius sighed.

Gray grinned and descended the porch steps. “Come on, baby.” It was time to greet their guests.

Abel and Madigan parked next to Ryan at the same time as the Tenleys appeared on the guest cabin’s porch.

Gage, Gideon, and Gabriel stepped out of the last car.

“Who else is feeling fucking pumped for this wedding?” Case hollered over the music.

“He’s gonna give the pigs a goddamn heart attack,” Darius said.

Gray chuckled and picked up the pace, and he met up with Case and Boone right before the bridge that crossed the stream.

“I see you brought the party with you.” He exchanged a grin with Case and hugged him. “Good to see you again, Casey.”

“You too, man. Since our men don’t dance, I’m hauling you out on the dance floor when we go clubbing.”

“No spoilers, you little shit!” Ryan yelled.

“Oh!” Case shouted and held out his free arm. “Who you callin’ shit, you old fuck!”

Oh God. Gray could only shake his head in amusement—and move on to greet the others. Boone got a hug, Ethan got a hug, they all got hugs. Gideon and Gabriel were already goofing off, dancing to the new song that was playing. All ’90s, give or take a few years. That was Case O’Sullivan. From “Mr. Saxobeat” to “Boom, Boom, Boom” by Vengaboys.

It was possible Gray was subscribing to Case’s playlists on Spotify.

Darius couldn’t stay grumpy for too long. By the time he’d greeted everyone, he’d reached his wry-smirk stage.

Gray threw an arm around Abel’s shoulders and smacked a loud smooch to his cheek. “Are you ready for this mayhem?”

“Are you?” Abel grinned. “Keep in mind, I helped plan it all.”

Yeah, Gray was game.

I’ve been a fan of this series for a while. Luckily, I discovered it a bit late so that I got to read the first three back to back. I was even a bit hesitant with the first one, but I gave it a go and was sucked right in. One of the books was just ok for me, but the rest? A+ So of course I HAD to read this one.

Let me say that a lot of times I feel that the “final” book in a series where they get their super Happily Ever After and the wedding seem kind of forced. Like the fan base loved the couple so much the author felt they had to do the wedding book. Because of that, they were fine. But lacking. Not so here.

At the beginning of every chapter are Darius’ thoughts as he is trying to write his vows. Anecdotes about their relationship, little stories about what has happened or is happening. The love is just so very evident that it is swoony. And not at all cheesy. I hate cheesy.

The story takes us from a rescue op that they couldn’t say no to in the jungles of Belize. It was exciting and fast and didn’t linger. They get 24 hours of R&R at a resort and we really get to check in with a few other characters we know and love. Not only from this series, but also from The Game series. Then they return to Washington a week before their wedding. Which involves plans set forth by the best men (there are 3) and include family, friends and their kids.

Again, this could easily have been a fluffy filler book. But the plans made for them to celebrate a “bachelor” party are just so quintessentially them. You’ll smile. I promise. Ok, twice a tear leaked out of my eye. But mostly smiles.

There are A LOT of characters. It’s a little hard to keep up with them all but the main parts of the story do not hinge on you knowing them at all. But they were still good to see.

Utterly satisfying, still incredibly sexy, so full of love and family. It’s a must.

4.5 pieces of eye candy

I’m often awkwardly silent or, if the topic interests me, a chronic rambler. In other words, I can discuss writing forever and ever. Fiction, in particular. The love story—while a huge draw and constantly present—is secondary for me, because there’s so much more to writing romance fiction than just making two (or more) people fall in love and have hot sex.

There’s a world to build, characters to develop, interests to create, and a topic or two to research thoroughly.

Every book is a challenge for me, an opportunity to learn something new, and a puzzle to piece together. I want my characters to come to life, and the only way I know to do that is to give them substance—passions, history, goals, quirks, and strong opinions—and to let them evolve.

I want my men and women to be relatable. That means allowing room for everyday problems and, for lack of a better word, flaws. My characters will never be perfect.

Wait…this was supposed to be about me, not my writing.

I’m a writey person who loves to write. Always wanderlusting, twitterpating, kinking, cooking, baking, and geeking. There’s time for hockey and family, too. But mostly, I just love to write.

COVER REVEAL from A.E. Via Thank you Jay Aheer!!! BLURB: The Ravens are supposed to be perfect weapons, therefore Scar and Gage should not exist.Oscar “Scar” Calloway was one of the most feared gang leaders on Chicago’s South Side—cold, brutal, and ruthless, even before the assassin enhancements.Gage Harrington was something else entirely—a man whose faith, compassion, and discipline made him a liability in a program built on violence. Both men were taken from desperate circumstances and promised rebirth. But when the science collapses and transformation fails, leaving one blind and the other unpredictable, they get marked for execution. With raw instinct and out of sheer desperation, Scar and Gage form an unlikely alliance to escape the place meant to bury them.Scar is uncontrolled fury, a predator shaped by the streets, and Gage navigates the world with empathy and calm strength. They should hate each other. But the more they fight, the harder it becomes to ignore the pull between them.Their trust is fragile and their natures at odds.Yet, together, they forge something rare and invaluable the Ravens didn’t know they needed to complete the flock.Preorder Link: www.amazon.com/White-Ravens-Book.../dp/B0FRYNC87F...Go to her group for an enticing Excerpt!!! 😍😍www.facebook.com/groups/636610423028342/ ...
