Lizzie stared at Hutch with huge, tear-filled eyes. “Please. Please, Hut. Don’t make me go away. I’ll be the best cooker ever. I promise.”

God, she was breaking his heart. Hutch managed to find a warm smile for her, though, as he crouched to give her a hug. “You’ll be home by three thirty. And I bet you find you like school. There’s so many fun things to do.” He’d known it would be hard to sendRC the twins off to school every day, leaving the house empty until afternoon, but he hadn’t expected it to be this hard.

She shook her head, the tears beginning to fall. Felicia was desperate to be big, to go to school like Darla, but this one had been opposed to the whole idea and finding out she wasn’t in the same Kindergarten class as her twin hadn’t helped. The school claimed they split twins up to let them develop their own individuality.

Well, Hutch knew damn well his girls were plenty individual, each with their own unique personality despite being together since birth.

“When you get home you can help me make supper,” he promised. “That won’t change just because you’re going to school.”

“Please? You can tell Addie-Lou it’s okay. I know you can,” she insisted.

“No, little. He can’t.” Adam shook his head. “School is important.”

“Is not!” She stamped her little foot, glaring at Adam. “I want to stay with Hut!”

“Okay, Lizzie, that’s enough.” Hutch gave her his most firm voice. “School is important and you’re going to make friends and find really fun things to do. Addie-Lou and I will be here when you get home.”

He wanted so badly to tell her she could stay home, but he knew she needed to do this. It was his job to make sure she didn’t need him and Adam anymore and this was how it started. Even if it was the hardest thing ever.

I was fortunate enough to read this book early on, when only a few people had had the pleasure of reading it, and I knew immediately that it was going to be a hit for Kindle Alexander. This story has all the passion and love of all their previous books, and the commitment to family that has always been a foundation that strengthens their stories.

Tristan and Dylan captured my heart quickly. Dylan, a man married to his best friend, committed to keeping their family in tact, and keeping himself from dating until his children are done with school, finds himself quickly falling in love with Tristan, a single man who he is doing business with.

I love how well adjusted this family is. Although Dylan and his wife agree that they can see each other outside their marriage, they have not told their children. Raising their children has been their first priority, and as you meet the children you find that they have done a spectacular job of that, with three very well adjusted children.

As Tristan and Dylan begin to realize that this can’t be just a one time affair for them, Dylan was frightened of the reaction his children would have. But he needn’t have been concerned. The entire goal of that family was to raise children who didn’t judge people, and were able to love other’s based on their merits, and that is what they did. The love and acceptance by the entire family was just a beautiful read. One can only wish all families could be like this.

Probably my favorite part was how the family came together at the end to create a blended family, just as you would hope would happen now. It was so heartwarming to see how everyone was supportive of Tristan and Dylan’s relationship, as well as all the other relationships that developed throughout the story.

This is a definite re-read for me, as many Kindle Alexander books are. Four and a half pieces of eye candy for Secret! And here’s hoping there might be a follow up book for poor Julian. 🙂

I am sure we have all heard the saying, “that moment when you finish a great book and now you don’t know what to do with yourself”. That was me when I finished Secret. Fantastic writing, lots of different emotions, and amazing characters. I did not want to put this story down until I was finished. I really enjoyed everything about it. The love scenes were sweet, very well done, and soooo hot.

From the first moment Tristan and Dylan meet, they have a strong pull toward one another. The fact that Dylan is married makes this a very unique read, and as always, Kindle takes that part of the story and nails it. Teri plays a wonderful part in Dylan and Tristan’s relationship and I really liked her. There were some great secondary characters as well to add even more life to this story.

This is one Journey I really didn’t want to end. I loved how Secret played out. For sure a reread and 5 pieces of eye candy from me.

Tristan’s Favorite Macaroni Salad

Ingredients:

  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 16 ounces pasta
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped

Directions:

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions; drain.
  2. Combine milk, mayonnaise, vinegar, salt, pepper and sugar in separate container. Stir to combine.
  3. Add pepper, carrots and onion to pasta.
  4. Pour dressing over pasta. Mix well. Chill overnight.

I made Tristan’s macaroni salad (see picture below) to test and my husband LOVED it. His words “You could make this again”, which translates to “OMG! This was the best thing ever, and I want more now!!!” 🙂

Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness – it was her name and she died a few weeks before Amazon released their brand new Kindle ereader. She had no idea it was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it.. It never happened.
Through the course of that crippling event I was lucky enough to begin to write with a dear friend in the fan fiction world of Facebook. We are all aware of the authors that are recommended when you want a paranormal, or a contemporary m/m, or even historical, and we love them, too. However, these Hidden Gems are books and authors you may not have heard of before…I know many of these, I have not! We will also spotlight, with a review, or an interview, one book or author during each post, so you can have a more in depth look at it.

I won’t lie. I was afraid to read this book. Like, big spider holding you hostage in the corner of your bedroom, scared. (Yes, that was a recurring dream for me as a kid…don’t ask…) I read Fourth and Long in March, but hadn’t read Saving Kane. I heard it was a not a light read. And although not all the books I read need to be light (Fourth and Long certainly isn’t), I just kept thinking I needed to mental prepare myself to read this book. I finally did, and I’m sorry I waited so long to read it! It wasn’t a light read, that is true, very heavy subject matter, but these men grab your hearts from the word go. I definitely had built up the fear in my mind, but found it was not as frightening as I had initially thought it would be! I mean let’s face it…it has an HEA, so what was I afraid of? 🙂


I don’t know how to describe the feelings throughout this book. Anguish immediately, as you see what Kane is going through. Hope, as he recovers physically, and Garrett is by his hospital bed every night, talking to him, despite Garrett believing Kane was asleep. Love, as they try to find a way to connect with each other, despite Garrett being straight. Heartbreak as Kane is a victim once again. And pure joy as they are able to connect with their families, after they have vanquished the evil that had lain before them.


In the end, their love began as a questioned emotion by these men, neither quite sure where they stood with the other. However, where they never failed to stand, was right by each others side. They were, without a doubt, loyal to ensuring that the other was safe and healthy, as much as they could be for not being in a relationship.


As a reviewer, I feel that something being an actual re-read, not just an “I hope to re-read this again someday”, but one that will be re-read with certainty is the highest compliment I can pay an author, and deserves a five pieces of eye candy rating. Their work is such a joy, or so emotion evoking, or whatever it is that catches each reader, that you are planning into your time to re-read a book that you don’t have to read, but that you are looking forward to re-reading.
