synopsis

His entire life, Tommy Garrett has dealt with self-doubts. He thought he’d conquered the majority of them until a chance meeting with an author brought his illiteracy to the forefront…again. Growing up with un-diagnosed dyslexia has left Tommy barely able to read, but books are his Nirvana. Now he spends his life creating art dedicated to the love of those “untouchable” items.

Robert McIntyre, Mac, is a best-selling, highly celebrated author. But his point of view has become a little bit too narrow…until Tommy opens his eyes. That chance meeting has changed everything about his world. He has no idea how to find the beautiful man he met, and offended, at the library book sale. But when he does, Tommy’s life is in crisis-mode. It’s the holidays and Mac can’t just standby when Tommy needs help, whether Tommy wants it or not.

Two artistic men. One shared passion for books.

Life is hard, and sometimes when conflict arises you have to write your own plot twist to pull yourself out of the fray.

denise review

The minute I saw the blurb on this book, I knew I was going to bump it up to the top of my TBR and read it ASAP. I read it in one sitting, and loved every second of it. I fact, I would love to see a follow up on Mac and Tommy at some point…well, I can ask can’t I? 🙂

I love Christi Snow’s writing. She injects such creativity into her writing. It isn’t a simple book where boy meets boy, they fall in love. She injects humor, some seriously hot scenes, and a creative aspect that you won’t find in other books. To have a man who loves books, yet has such severe dyslexia that his reading skills are very low, yet his entire goal is to take beautiful books that are basically tossed away by their owners, and make them into even more beautiful works of art.

Meanwhile, Mac, an author who is offended at the idea of someone taking books, especially his books and “destroying” them, has to find a way to work his way back into Tommy’s good graces. How he does this is really a sweet gesture at a time when Tommy needs support more than ever.

This is more than just a sweet, sexy holiday story. It’s a book that goes to the heart of family, pre-conceived notions, and finding your passion. I just loved these two, their interactions, and how they were willing to set aside their expectations and just let it all happen.

A must re-read.

My final rating is 4.5 pieces of eye candy.

paula review

This was a beautifuly written book. I adore Mac and Tommy. Mac is so sweet, and such a wonderful guy. I loved how he tried to take care of Tommy, even if his way of doing it was a little crazy. My heart went out to Tommy and everything he had to go through. He is such a strong character. His way of expressing his love of book and the story they told was so original and awesome. I really wish I could have jumped into the story and seen his art. I thought Mac and Tommy were so right for each other and I liked the creativity shown throughout this story. The ending was perfectly done in my opinion and I can’t wait to get more from this series.

4 pieces of eye candy.

One More Time

Ethan Stone

“Yes, ma’am, I understand you’re not very happy with your husband, but that doesn’t mean you can attack him with a weasel.”

The couple had fought over which TV show to watch. Even though Mr. Palmer had acquiesced and let her watch Real Housewives of Washington D.C. Mrs. Palmer hadn’t liked the fact he had argued with her so when he’d gone to bed she’d tossed an angry ferret under the covers. Mr. Palmer had been bitten a couple times but there had been no major damage.

It was just another night as a cop in small town of Lovelock, Nevada. We never had anything exciting here. Mainly domestic disturbances like the Palmers. Some police offers would’ve preferred more action, but not me. I’d done four years in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and had gotten tired of dealing with punk gangbangers shooting at me. The three years at Lovelock had been far less exciting but much better for my blood pressure.

After settling the disturbance at the Palmers’ I cruised down Main Street making sure the boarded up buildings hadn’t been broken into by bored teenagers. Thankfully we only had more active businesses than empty ones in town. Not that we were a bustling metropolis by any means. I’d just braked to allow mangy stray black dog to cross in front of me when a man ran past my car. Because I was driving slowly I was able to stop in plenty of time. He stood staring at me for a moment before turning and dashing off. Normally I wouldn’t have wasted my time chasing him, but since he was buck-ass naked I figured I should bring him in.

I spun the wheel and turned down the alley he had fled into. Since it had a dead end, he couldn’t have gone far. I didn’t spot him right off the bat so I assumed he was doing his best to hide. I put the car into park, kept the lights on and stepped out.

“You might as well come out,” I hollered. “It’ll be a lot better for you if I don’t have to come in after you.”

“Okay, okay.”

I turned my flashlight to where the voice had come from behind two trash cans and the nude dude stepped out, his arms raised. I didn’t recognize him, which was odd since I knew most people in town. He was approximately twenty-five years old, six foot tall, one-hundred-eighty pounds. Muscular.

Shining the beam at his face, I asked, “Care to explain this to me?”

He chuckled nervously. “You’re not gonna believe me.”

“Try me.”

“I was hooking up with this really hot chick and her husband showed up. Had to climb out the window.”

I sighed. “Was her name Connie?”

“Yeah. How did you know that?”

“Let’s just say you’re not the first man Harry’s caught her with. She does it make him jealous.”

He rubbed his face then quickly put his arm back up. “Christ, I’m a dumbass.”

When the casual hookup turns into the potential for love, Spencer realizes that if he wants to build a life with Emilio, he’ll need to be strong enough to slay his personal demons and learn to trust again.

paula review

I absolutely adore Emilio and Spencer. Emilio is such a great character. So outgoing and sure of what he wants. At 22 he is so mature and has his life together. I like how mature he was and how he just went after what he wanted, and by that I’m talking about Spencer. Spencer, dear sweet shy Spencer, he was such a brilliantly written character. His utter cluelessness at the beginning was so endearing. He was so unsure of what Emilio wanted from him, not really believing that Emilio was hitting on him. I like the joy Emilio brought to his life. Emilio’s family is full of a wonderful cast of characters. As with most Cardeno’s books this is just a sweet straight forward romance, no huge drama’s.

It’s no secret that I love CC’s books. How I have not binge read all of them by now, I have no idea. I think my brain has decided to savor them. And I have recently started reading/listening to her Mates series (reviews on that to come), when I don’t really read shifter books. But there you go, I have decided that if CC writes it, I will read it.

I loved this one. A hookup to an HEA, always a great love story for me. These two were such well drawn up characters, and really offset each other well. May-December romance that just hits all the great feels that you want in a story like this. Two men finding love, where they don’t expect it. In CC’s hand, that always adds up to a great read for me.

Five-ish good questions with Skylar Cates

(A sometimes feature on Two Chicks Obsessed with Books and Eye Candy)

  1. Let’s start with serious: A Guy’s Thanksgiving came out on November 4th. (I listened to all of them on Audible, can’t wait to read this one). So, tell us something fun that comes out in this edition.

Jesse and Aaron were fun in the novella. They shocked each other in the best way possible.collin

  1. What is your vision of what Mac and Conor look like? Do you have celebrity inspirations/crushes for these two characters?

I usually don’t look at famous people for characters. I’m too busy listening to their voices in my head.

Since Conor is Irish, though, I admit that I pictured Colin Farrell. I’ve enclosed a picture of him that I do have on my laptop. I have it for research purposes, of course.

  1. There is a dog on the cover…probably one of the most interesting covers I’ve ever seen. Does the dog play into the romance of the book?

You bet!  I wanted a fun, holiday cover  (There is a scene with turkey sandwiches and beer too, and the couple decide that this can be Thanksgiving dinner— a very Charlie Brown sort of scene).  Most of my books have angst lately, and this cover, much like my The Holiday Hoax cover, gave me the warmth and humor I wanted for it.

I loved writing the dog scenes. On a side note, my own dog died around the time I wrote A Guy’s Thanksgiving, so if anything it was cathartic for me to give a dog a HEA in the book. The dog gets involved with one of the already established couples, so the dog doesn’t instigate the romance, but the dog triggers quite a few heartfelt scenes.

Since the novella includes ALL the guys from ALL the books, it was either go for the dog or have what looks like an orgy of men on the cover! LOL! Maybe I should have gone for all the men?

  1. Sex scenes are not easy to write. And if writing is your full time gig, life sometimes gets in the way. What is your “method” to “get in the mood” to write a sex scene? Do you need some Luther Vandross on the radio? Maybe some low candlelight? Or do you just need the kids out at Chuck E. Cheese so you have the house to yourself? 🙂

You Tube: Kissing clips + A hot and steamy bath + A vodka gimlet or a glass of vino = the right mood

No kids around is absolutely a requirement!  In truth, I actually enjoy the sex scenes. Many authors do find them difficult….I’m a horndog, I guess. *blushes* I will admit it’s a pain to vary the words like cock, ass, balls—there are only so many synonyms! Seriously, though, I try and think about the tone of the scene. Is it tender? Angry? Sweet? That guides me in how I’ll craft it.

  1. Now, for the fun one. You call me to bail you out of jail. You tell me to bring you three things. What are they, and why?

  1. I-Phone 6 –fully loaded with the newest M/M books and good music. I’ll have some catching up to do! Jail must have a limited library of books.

  1. Some wine, preferably ones with wacky names. I’ll need some laughs as I drink a toast to my freedom: Middle Sister, Mad Housewife, Fat Bastard, Big Pecker, Sweet Bitch, or Stark Raving Malbec (If you can’t bring alcohol to the jailhouse, a big mug of really good coffee will do)

  1. My husband. I would be missing him like crazy and need a hug.

Thanks for hosting me!

Aftermath by Cara Dee : Book Review

November 15, 2015 by Denise

aftermathsynopsis

Austin Huntley and Cameron Nash are like night and day. One is a family man, works in a nice office, drives an expensive car, and is content to be content. The other one is an antisocial car mechanic with a short fuse.

Some things don’t change. Others definitely do.

After surviving a five-month long kidnapping together, they struggle to return to normalcy, all while realizing that they’re more drawn to each other than they ever could’ve imagined.

“I know I’m not normal, but I’m not fucking stupid.”

“Define normal,” Austin countered quietly, meeting Cam in the doorway. “And for not being normal, you’re the only person in the world who makes sense right now. What does that say about me?”

Warning: This story contains violence and scenes of an explicit, erotic nature between two men and is intended for adults, 18+.

denise review

Wow. Just wow. This was a book that I bought months ago, on a recommendation, and then just hesitated to read. Whether it was that I was scared that it would be too violent, or that I wouldn’t get an HEA, I’m not sure. But I will say it right now, I was dead wrong. This book was so well done, and hit all the marks, I couldn’t have been happier with it.

Yes, there is violence in it, but what I appreciated about the way it was written was that it was presented as flashbacks. This allowed the reader to get caught up in the lives of Cam and Austin as they were in present time, while still learning throughout the story what they went through during their five months of hell. So, although you are sad, and heartbroken, you don’t have to worry about crying your eyes out, before you move to happier times.

Cam and Austin for me were just a perfect match for me. Opposites, but they clearly were falling in love in the cell they were locked in, finding comfort and strength in each other, while they worked to get out, gun or no gun.

What a fantastic story, and I honestly am excited to see what the second book in the series will bring.

5 pieces of eye candy for me, without question.

excerpt
He flipped me over onto my back with me hovering as he nibbled on my bottom lip, pulling it gently with his teeth. He was obviously heavier than I was but he didn’t lay himself into me fully, which granted me more room to push my hips this time upwards. Grabbing onto his ass kept me going as I felt it tense every few moments in my hands as I squeezed harder. I took back control with him back underneath me because it was about time that he gave me a few moments of control since in the bedroom he was showing his dominant side.
Sitting again, he grabbed me pulling me into an embrace with a tight bear hug keeping his forehead planted against my chest. He buried his nose and kept breathing whatever was the scent I had on me. I saw this only as endearing and truly lovely.
Holding me up firmly felt good with his support. Mitch’s hands were strong and large enough, giving me little room to maneuver around while I straddled him. It left me the ability only to push my groin and hips deeper against his own as his grip didn’t falter. I leaned back against his forearms leaving my body at an angle but keeping our cocks grinding against each other, my hips stuck to his.
His breathing was getting slower but heavier so I knew I was doing something right. His fingers moved up and down my back hitting certain pressure points releasing some of the tension he was making me feel by teasing me like this. I decided to lean back into him leaving our faces to meet each other again to kiss, alternating between pulling me in closer or grabbing onto my behind. Grabbing me by my chin he kept me at eye level with him and looked at me with those eyes that spoke of nothing but silence. What did he have planned?

R.Paone started on this writing journey in June, 2014. From events that were beyond his control, he decided to start this new path in his life before my 30th birthday. It has been quite the journey mapping out this story arc. He has learned so much writing a novel in that it has been therapeutic and also eye opening as it evolves. He hopes everyone will enjoy what is to come from the “ONLY IF” series as I want this to be something anyone could reach for and say “that could happen to me.” Stay tuned! Three fun facts about him is: he live in NYC, has a vast horror movie collection and has a great appreciation for Enya.

COVER REVEAL from A.E. Via Thank you Jay Aheer!!! BLURB: The Ravens are supposed to be perfect weapons, therefore Scar and Gage should not exist.Oscar “Scar” Calloway was one of the most feared gang leaders on Chicago’s South Side—cold, brutal, and ruthless, even before the assassin enhancements.Gage Harrington was something else entirely—a man whose faith, compassion, and discipline made him a liability in a program built on violence. Both men were taken from desperate circumstances and promised rebirth. But when the science collapses and transformation fails, leaving one blind and the other unpredictable, they get marked for execution. With raw instinct and out of sheer desperation, Scar and Gage form an unlikely alliance to escape the place meant to bury them.Scar is uncontrolled fury, a predator shaped by the streets, and Gage navigates the world with empathy and calm strength. They should hate each other. But the more they fight, the harder it becomes to ignore the pull between them.Their trust is fragile and their natures at odds.Yet, together, they forge something rare and invaluable the Ravens didn’t know they needed to complete the flock.Preorder Link: www.amazon.com/White-Ravens-Book.../dp/B0FRYNC87F...Go to her group for an enticing Excerpt!!! 😍😍www.facebook.com/groups/636610423028342/ ...
