empty netsynopsis

Spartanburg Spitfires’ goalie and captain, Isaac Drake, ended last season with an unexpected trip to the playoffs. He’s found a home and a family with his coach and mentor, Misha Samarin, and he’s looking forward to making a serious run for the Kelly Cup. But things take an interesting turn when Isaac’s archnemesis, Laurent St. Savoy, is traded to the Spitfires. After Laurent’s despicable behavior in the playoffs last year, Isaac wants nothing to do with him—no matter how gorgeous he is. But that changes when Isaac discovers the reason for Laurent’s attitude.

Laurent St. Savoy grew up the only son of a legendary NHL goalie in a household rife with abuse. He was constantly treated like a disappointment, on and off the ice. When a desperate attempt to escape his father’s tyranny sends him to the Spitfires, the last thing Laurent wants is to make friends. But there’s something about Isaac Drake that he can’t resist. Laurent has an opportunity to explore his sexuality for the first time, but he’s cracking under end-of-the-season pressures. When facing the playoffs and a rivalry turned personal vendetta, Isaac’s not sure he’s enough to hold on to Laurent—or their relationship.

Exclusive Excerpt from Empty Net:

Kissing Laurent was both a good idea and a bad one.

Isaac had no idea what he was doing with Laurent on a personal level, but professionally they were in competition. Laurent’s goaltending was getting better and better, because he’d apparently decided to show up and play, after all. Which was great, but Isaac was having to step up his game.

And he liked it, he realized. The competition wasn’t vicious—since Laurent was being way less of a dickhead—but it was intense.

The more intense it got, the more intense the kissing got too. Isaac continued to wonder if he was getting in over his head.

“So you’re spending a lot of time with Saint,” Hux said, when they were playing video games at his and Murph’s place.

“And isn’t it better for everyone?” Isaac made his on-screen character shoot the puck. He liked playing forward on video games, even though everyone expected him to be the goalie.

“Not talking about the team, bro,” said Hux. He, on the other hand, played a defenseman, just like he did on the ice. He also liked to try and get in fights. Hux was a man secure and happy with his role in their shared sport, that was for sure.

“You fucking him?” Murph asked, wandering in with a beer.

“Murph thinks he’s gay,” Hux said, as if that needed explaining.

Isaac stared at the screen and tried to make Mike Fisher do some kind of Spinarama move. Instead Hux’s team stole the puck and scored off the turnover. Being a Predators fan was hard in any reality—real or pixelated. “I’m not fucking him.”

His friends stared at him, but Isaac tried not to let anything show on his face. Things were too complicated to talk about.

“Holy shit. Ha. I was right. My gaydar is better than yours, dude,” Murph crowed, smacking Isaac on the back of the head.

“Ow. Would you stop? I told you I wasn’t fucking him.”

“Yeah. But you’re getting some,” Murph prodded. “Don’t lie.”

“I’m not,” Isaac said. Firmly. “Believe me. Can we not talk about this?”

“Nope.” Hux paused the game. “Spill it. Are you guys dating?”

Isaac was two seconds away from snapping “I’m going home” and throwing the controller like he was a sulky twelve-year-old. Instead he took a deep breath and said, “Guys, can we not talk about Saint and just play the game?”

Murph and Hux exchanged a look, but they didn’t say anything else about it. Isaac didn’t trust that look at all, but he kept it to himself. He couldn’t say he didn’t want to talk about it and then start talking about it.

Making out with Laurent and trying to be friends with him didn’t necessarily make it easier to like him. He still rubbed a lot of the guys the wrong way, and though Isaac understood that dickhead Laurent was a result of him feeling insecure or defensive, no one else did. Yet there was a guy worth knowing under the mask. Isaac was sure of it.

Which was why, when Coach Samarin told them about an outreach opportunity at a local school, Isaac signed them both up without asking Laurent.

“You want me to talk to kids?” Laurent stared at him incredulously. “I can barely handle talking to people my own age, and you think this is a good idea?”

Isaac shrugged and then flashed a grin. “Probably not, but you gotta learn sometime. Right?”

Laurent didn’t look convinced. “I’m not ever having children,” he said in a flat voice.

“Stop making everything so dramatic,” Isaac responded. “You’re going.”

The outreach was about getting kids interested in hockey without the use of one of Belsey’s 80’s-music-themed ad campaigns. He and Laurent wore a few pieces of their gear—mostly to emphasize the importance of safety, and because kids thought their masks were cool—and stood in front of some nets while the kids were organized into two groups, and then tried to score with a giant nerf ball and what looked to be an over-sized golf club.

Isaac wasn’t used to kids, but he had fun flailing around and pretending to stop goals. Each kid took shots until they scored a goal, which was basically just Isaac letting one in when the kid looked frustrated or stopped giggling.

One of the teachers paused the shootout and came up to Isaac. “Umm. Could you maybe tell your teammate that this is supposed to be fun?”

Laurent was apparently taking his position too seriously, as usual. Isaac reassured the harried-looking teacher and went over to Laurent. “It’s not the Stanley Cup playoffs,” he said. “You’re not supposed to make other guys cry.”

Laurent’s dark gaze was cool and unreadable. Isaac had been told more than once that he had the crazy, “come and try it, asshole” goalie stare beneath his mask when he was in net. Not for the first time, Isaac noticed that Laurent’s stare looked like nobody was home—like he was just an extension of the net instead of a person.

No wonder he didn’t like hockey or playing goalie. Shutting down hotshot shooters was supposed to give you a feeling of glee. Just not when they were seven.

“My father never—”

“I swear to—uh, gosh. If you mention your dad, I will deck you with one of those Nerf things.” Isaac looked around and made sure he was smiling wildly in case a small child overheard him. “Now stop being a prick and make these kids have fun.”

Isaac yanked his mask back down, went to his side of the makeshift court, and took his spot back in goal.

A few minutes later he heard some cheers and giggling, so Isaac figured Laurent had gotten with the program.

After the kids were finished shooting at the goalies, they were allowed to take turns in net. Isaac was momentarily horrified at how that would play out with Laurent. He worried that he’d just consigned about ten kids to therapy. But Laurent was surprisingly good at that part. At one point Isaac looked over to check on him and saw Laurent bestow an honest-to-God smile on a kid and ruffle his hair.

That’s when Isaac decided they needed to go on a date—a real one that maybe ended in more than kissing. Because there was something about that gesture, about seeing Laurent St. Savoy drop all his attitude and be a regular guy having a good time and showing the affection he’d probably never had as a child. And Isaac needed to know if the thing between them was leading somewhere or if they were just going to be friends who sometimes petted each other’s hair, but no more than that.

“See. Wasn’t that fun?” Isaac asked on the way back. Laurent looked as relaxed as Isaac had ever seen him.

“It wasn’t bad,” Laurent said.

“You want to go get some dinner?” Isaac tried not to sound too eager.

“It’s four thirty,” Laurent said. “Are we going for a senior citizen’s discount?”

“Well, I meant later. But you know we don’t get paid all that much.” Isaac grinned. “Don’t expect me to take you anywhere fancy. I meant like, Olive Garden or something.”

“I don’t like Olive Garden.”

Isaac sighed and took the turn toward Laurent’s apartment. One step at a time. “We can go somewhere else. The important part was the one where I asked you out. On a date.”

“Okay.”

That was all he got, but Isaac said, “I’ll pick you up at seven thirty” and watched as Laurent climbed out of the Jeep without a backward glance.

paula review
This book about broke my heart. Laurent was such an emotional character to read. His life was hell. His outward personality was very much a result of how his father raised him, he was an asshole. In the beginning he really doesn’t know how to act any different. Thank god for Isaac. These two get off to a horrible start due to some pretty shitty things Laurent said to Isaac at the end of the last season and also when the meet again after Laurent’s transfer. Thankfully Isaac is more than just a surface guy and realizes there is more to Laurent then his mouth. Isaac is able to get past Laurent’s guard, and they become friends. I really liked how supportive Isaac was and how he always called Laurent on his bullshit, in regards to his attitude and how he talked to people. Isaac was able to recognize Laurent’s defense mechanisms for what they were and help Laurent find other ways to deal with things. These two characters were brilliantly written and the story was beautiful. I couldn’t put this one down.

excerpt

With Matt’s help I found a stall selling magnificent orchids, and after explaining their purpose, the owner giggled and put them together into a stunning presentation vase.

Then I bolted for the room, peace offering in hand.

I arrived outside the door realizing I’d left my key card behind, so I rang the bell like a florist with a special delivery.

The door flung open. He’d been crying, and my heart nearly broke in two.

“Jacko, where have you been? I was so worried about you I was nearly sick.”

I couldn’t say anything much because I too was choked up, but I managed to thrust the flowers into his hand and say, “These are for you. I’m sorry I made a dick of myself.”

His eyes shone.

Sammy always loved flowers; he loved growing them, displaying them, and I knew he loved them as a gift.

“Well,” he said with a grin, “they’re beautiful, thank you, but really I’m as much to blame as you are.”

“No, you’re not,” deciding I had to ramp up the stakes. First I had to wipe away his tears, very unromantically, with my thumb. Then I did what I have should have done many years ago and kissed him, on the lips. Beautiful, full, puffy pillows they were, and suddenly the world lit up, it was like someone had just turned the lights on.

We stood there gazing at each other in bloody wonderment as we leaned in and did it again. There was love in Sammy’s eyes, but I could see the concern also, one of the benefits of some dyslexic people seeing things on a different level.

Russell&John25years 070

John Terry Moore and Russell Baum, his partner of thirty three years, live in Geelong, Victoria’s largest regional centre, one hour from Melbourne, Australia. Many factors influenced John in the writing of this novel, not the least of which has been Russell’s dyslexia, how it affected him as a young person and how it has played out in his subsequent life.

John’s interest in same sex partnerships, economics, politics and Asian affairs have also played a major role in the storyline.

John and Russell have travelled extensively throughout Asia for many years. Studiously avoiding western tourists, they have inserted themselves into the culture and the daily lifestyles of the local people and consequently have a unique overview and understanding of Asian nations, (ASEAN in particular), and the relationships those countries have with Australia.

John completed his education at Hobart Matriculation College, and held a number of senior positions in the automotive industry over a thirty five year period, working separately for three Asian motor companies.

He has been a civil marriage celebrant and funeral celebrant for many years, (now retired), witnessing at first hand rapidly changing Australian public opinion questioning traditional family structures and also questioning Australia’s place in the world. Australia remains tied to the British Commonwealth, yet with the fastest growing global economies only a few hours away in Asia, the messages Australia sends to its neighbors sometimes appear confusing and unhelpful.

John is a passionate advocate of same sex marriage and equal rights for same sex parents and their children, encouraging, supporting and driving the push for marriage equality in Australia. That LGBTI people should finally be embraced as an integral part of society, removing the scourge of homophobia and the risk of self harm, replacing it with humanity, commonsense and love. That only when everyone is treated exactly the same under law will society begin to heal itself.

Another BDSM story?

My upcoming release, Override, is my…..Oh hell, I’ve lost count of how many stories I’ve told with BDSM elements. Each one is as unique as the characters. The one thing they have in common is they tend to be mild. I’m not a huge fan of hardcore BDSM and as such, I don’t write it. What really fascinates me about the Dom/sub relationship is the power exchange and the physiological aspects of it.

I’ll admit, I’ve had my fair share of bad reviews. Hell, I hesitate to call them bad since I’ve learned a lot from the ones I’ve read. A chance to learn is never a bad thing. One thing stands out for me when reading bad reviews is that I never take them personally as I know I can’t please everyone all the time. I write from the heart, for myself and have been fortunate that so many have enjoyed them.

I don’t claim to be an expert on the BDSM lifestyle, but I do have friends who are members and to whom I look to when writing.  Those within the lifestyle face the same struggles in life as everyone else, jobs, finances, and family and health issues. I, nor anyone I know would ever think the BDSM lifestyle is a cure-all for any hardship including mental and physical health crisis. However, sometimes, with conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, shyness, depression, a sub can learn coping mechanism from his Dom. I mean think about it, a Dom, a GOOD Dom, is usually acutely aware of physical and mental changes in his sub.

Okay, so off my soapbox. I really did get off topic considering Donavan has no issues other than he feels somewhat inferior to Seth. In fact, I think this is one of the “fluffiest” BDSM stories I’ve written. 🙂

One story type that I haven’t written much of until recently are those that feature a love lost and then found again.  This is very much one of those stories.  For a very long time I didn’t write stories like that and I really have no idea why.  Maybe its because I was blessed with an amazing husband and we both recognized our feelings for one another and didn’t go through that kind of angst.  But in the last year I have become more and more enamored of stories like that.  I wish I could tell you why, but I can’t.  I just know that they fascinate me at the moment.  I especially love stories where the original relationship broke up because one of the characters thought it was best for the other.    The unselfish act that ended up hurting them both.

Justin took a deep breath. “I had to get away and try for my dream. You know that.”

“So you would have left anyway, eventually?” George asked. “Regardless of what happened, you were going to leave me.” That hurt.

“I don’t know what I would have done if things had been different. But they weren’t. My home was ripped away, and I had a chance to try for a whole new life. The people who should have loved me most turned their backs, so why wouldn’t everyone else? I left, went out West, rolled the dice, and I came up a winner.”

“Did you really?” George asked, letting his gaze bore into Justin until he turned away.

Justin’s fork jangled when he set it on the plate. Their server had placed the check on the edge of the table, and Justin grabbed it and got up, going to the register.

“That isn’t necessary,” George said, but there was only Ethan to hear it.

“He’s going to need some time,” Ethan told him.

“I don’t understand.”

“I think you do. He’s rediscovering something he thought was lost to him, and from what I’ve heard, you’re part of that.” Ethan shifted to get comfortable on the lumpy seat.

“You really care for him?”

Ethan chuckled. “He’s the brother I wish I had. I’m not his lover, and I never will be, but we need each other. We’re a family of two that we made for ourselves.”

“Would you say that if he wasn’t a huge success?” George asked.

Ethan’s gaze grew cold as ice. “I was his friend when he had nothing after his father kicked him out and his confidence was shot to hell. So you don’t get to ask questions like that. Yes, he pays for things for me and I live in his house, but I also go where he goes and make sure he’s okay.” Ethan leaned over the table, the intensity in his expression not softening one iota. “Do you understand? If anyone wants to get to him, they have to go through me or over my dead body.”

“You’re serious,” George observed.

“He’s my family.” Ethan sat back in the booth. “Justin is strong—very strong—and smart, but he carries the scars of what happened. Don’t let the confident exterior fool you. I picked up the pieces of what happened here, and while he’s never said a word, I know there’s more to it than just his father.”

George swallowed hard. “Excuse me?”

Ethan nodded. “Something else happened after his dad kicked him out. He doesn’t talk about it, but something scared the crap out of him and gave his feet wings that sent him West.” He turned toward the register. “I’m only telling you this because I don’t know anyone in town, and I’m hoping for the sake of your old friendship that you’ll help him exorcise whatever demon has been hounding him.”

George tried to think of anything that had happened around the time that Justin left town. Justin came back to the table, and Ethan stood, staying next to him. George saw him looking around the restaurant, and then he leaned in, whispering something, and Justin walked to a table back by the window.

George got out of the booth and turned to watch as Justin knelt by a little boy in a wheelchair. “That’s Bobby Masten. He’s been in a chair all his life.”

George watched as Justin and Bobby laughed together, and when Bobby turned to him, Justin gave the slight boy a hug that earned a smile bright enough to light the entire room. Ethan hurried over and handed Justin a card before standing next to him once again.

“Are those pictures or something?”

“No, just blank cards. But this way he has something to sign that’s better than a napkin.”

George watched Justin with Bobby, unable to take his eyes off him. Others moved closer, but Justin kept his attention on Bobby, making him feel special. Then Justin stood, grinned, and headed grinned and headed right for the door. George and Ethan followed him out.

“Always know when to make an exit,” Justin explained with a grin. “The vultures were beginning to circle.”

“What does that mean?” George asked.

Rummaging through my coat pocket for my car keys, I stepped past what I assumed was a homeless guy sitting against the brick wall, staring up at the sky. It was a common sight on the streets of London, and as always I felt a pang of sorrow, maybe even guilt, as I carried on walking to my flashy car, ready to drive to my expensive apartment to eat my luxury food.
“C-Cameron?” The timid voice that carried my name darted into my ears, paralysing me, welding my feet to the pavement.
It can’t be.
“Cam, is that you?”
I seemed to turn in slow motion, my eyes squinting as I studied the face a few feet away, illuminated by the streetlamp above.
“Dylan?”
Standing, he strode towards me, each step hesitant and wobbly, and as he neared I had no doubt in my mind. “Oh my God. Dylan!”
Automatically, I lunged forward, my arms folding around his body, around his leather jacket, his dad’s jacket, and held him tight to my chest.
Pulling back, I stared at his face, pressing my hand to his cheek to move back the side of his grey hoody. Christ, the feel of his skin on mine…it still sent tingles through my spine even after all these years. He still felt familiar. He still felt like home.

Excerpt from Counting Backwards (Book Two in The Counting Series)

~Paul~

“I’m gonna die alone,” I said, tipping my head back on the couch cushions.
I expected Derek to grumble, or at least laugh at me, but he didn’t. Instead, he slapped his hand down on my knee and spoke in the most tender tone I’d ever heard from his lips. “We got each other.”
Four little words, yet they made my chest feel funny. My heart beat a little faster and the feel of his hand on my jeans-clad leg made my stomach tickle. “You coming onto me, old man?” I didn’t like how unsettled I suddenly felt so I turned it into a joke.
“No.” He sounded almost offended. “I’m just sayin’ maybe I don’t wanna grow old alone either.”
“But…you hate people.”
“I don’t ‘ate you. Well, not all the time anyway.”
My eyes narrowed as I flopped my head to the side to look at him. He sounded so…serious. Derek and I didn’t do serious. “Are you saying you want to make one of those pacts? Like, if we’re still single in ten years we’ll marry each other kinda thing.”
“Fuck no! Christ, I couldn’t live wi’ your whiney arse twenty-four seven.”
We were back to goofing around. Normality had resumed.
Phew.
“I just meant if we never get to ‘ave the ‘ole romance novel life, we’ll always ‘ave each other to get drunk with. We can bitch about ‘ow sickenin’ the likes o’ Cam and Dyl are together while we’re doin’ wheelies in our wheelchairs in the old folks ‘ome.”
“I’d whip your arse in a wheelie contest,” I said, my voice brimming with confidence.
With an amused grin taking over his face, he pointed to my stomach. “Wi’ that podge?”
Covering my belly with my hand, my jaw dropped. “I do not have a podge!”
Derek’s build was what could only be described as fucking huge. He had broad shoulders and a strong neck, biceps like fucking watermelons that were decorated with vibrant tattoos on his left, black and grey on his right. He was solid everywhere. You ran the risk of getting knocked the fuck out just brushing against him.
Sure, in comparison I was tiny, but I didn’t have a podgy belly. If I tensed hard enough in front of the mirror I could almost see the shadow of a four-pack. “I’m lighter,” I said. “Which means I can haul my weight around faster. You don’t stand a chance.”
“Oh yeah? Prove it.”
I rolled my eyes. “Shit. I left my wheelchair at home.”
“Come to the gym wi’ me and Dyl this mornin’. Challenge me on the treadmill.”
Fuck. “I’m hungover. Wouldn’t be a fair fight.”
“Yeah, yeah.” The twat snickered. “Shame you can’t live up to that big gob o’ yours.”
“Tomorrow.” Shit. What the hell did I say that for? “Tomorrow. Seven AM. I’ll be ready.”
Derek’s eyebrow rose as he jerked his head back. “You’re on, Twinkle.” He held out his closed fist, which I proceeded to bump, but inside I was quietly petrified. “Prepare to lose.”
I’ll die before I step off that treadmill. I wouldn’t give the cocky fucker the satisfaction. And so it looked like today could quite possibly have been my last day on earth.
Shit.

paula review

This was such a powerful book. Dylan broke my heart. He’s so lost and broken. He tries really hard and struggles. My heart was with him through the whole book. I was rooting for him so bad. Cameron was amazing. He was so loving and forgiving. He truly believed in Dylan and was very supportive. I really like how Nicola wrote this story. There wasn’t a magic you’re fine ending. She was realistic in the work and daily struggle that Dylan would have to live with. Cameron was my champion in this story. He love for Dylan and his acknowledging the fact that Dylan would struggle with his sobriety. The entire story was very realistic to me with the ups and downs.

synopsis

Chance “The Chancellor” Gerhardt is a mainstay for Frontier Professional Wrestling. He’s won multiple championships and has the respect of the locker room. But after ten years at the top, Chance is looking for a new challenge. The one he gets, mentoring FPW’s young rookie, is both unexpected and unwanted.

Devin Jacobs is a hot new talent signed by Frontier Professional Wrestling. He’s always been a fan of The Chancellor, and not just because of the older man’s skill in the ring. He has it bad for the steely eyed veteran wrestler. Unfortunately for Devin, The Chancellor isn’t looking to get involved with anyone. Or is he? During long nights traveling and working together, Devin catches more than one secretly admiring glance from The Chancellor…

Devin is determined to earn victories and championships in the ring. But he’d also love the opportunity to win Chance’s heart. Can the two of them navigate their way through the hyper masculinity and backstage politics of professional wrestling to the most important victory of all? Or will their shot at love be defeated 1-2-3?

Christa Tomlinson is a lifelong fan of professional wrestling. When she’s not writing, Christa can be found watching her favorite classic matches or traveling to live wrestling events.

tco-friday five-ish

  1. Showing Him the Ropes is a book about professional wrestling. What was your inspiration for writing this? Is the sport as staged as we’ve heard it is?

My inspiration is the fact that I’m a big ole wrestling nerd. Don’t believe me? Here I am in my twenties after a 16 hour drive to go to Wrestlemania. Awww, baby Christa!

christa-wrestlemaia

Anyhoo. I took a break from writing several years ago because all of my free time was taken up playing roller derby. While I was playing that sport, I broke my leg and found myself with a summer full of free time. I spent it reading and writing wrestling fanfiction, which got me back into writing. And I thought to myself, as much as I love writing about wrestling for fics, why not write an original series about it? So Champions of Desire was birthed in my noggin.

And yes, professional wrestling is scripted. Which means the outcomes of the matches are pre-determined. The men and women in the ring don’t actually hate each other and they’re not trying to kill each other. Think of it as live action theatre. The wrestlers have an end goal and they work together, telling a story in the ring to get to that result. The moves they do are very athletic and can be dangerous. They train and work hard, so don’t go trying to do a pile driver on your friends after you read this book!

  1. Do you have any wrestling celebrity crushes that shaped these characters? Did their on-stage personalities come through in your writing of these characters?

    seth
    Seth Rollins
kota
Kota Ibushi

Haha! I knew you were going to ask this! Actually, I figure most people who know wrestlers will want to know this, so let’s just get it on out of the way. First! I made sure not to actually base my MCs on any real wrestlers. I didn’t want it to read like a fic, you know? But I did have a mix of guys in my head as I wrote. Devin Jacobs is my hot shot young rookie. He’s a bit of a playful flirt. For him I’d say I was inspired by Seth Rollins and Kota Ibushi. Kota for his high flying moves and general adorableness and Seth for his cocky “look at me I’m the coolest” attitude.

John Cena
John Cena

Chance, on the other hand, is at the top of the mountain. But he’s been

regal
William Regal

there awhile and as a result he’s sort of gruff and tired. He’s very muscular and athletic, but also very smart. So for him, I’d say John Cena and William Regal stomped around in my head a bit.

  1. Let’s say I don’t know anything about wrestling (which to be fair, I don’t 🙂 ). How were you able to make sure that the average reader would be able to hang in there and “get” everything?

I tried to pay attention to the wrestling lingo I was using to make sure I gave context clues. I also created a glossary of wrestling terms that will be included in the book. But it’s funny, those words have been a part of my vocabulary for so long that I didn’t realize just how many of them the general public isn’t aware of. You asked me what a turnbuckle was and I was so surprised that wasn’t an everyday word. Ha! Thanks for the heads up there!

  1. What one thing are you most excited about with this book? Okay, you can make it as many things as you want.

Honestly, I’m excited to get to do something creatively with the world that I love so much. It was fun not only writing the story, but deciding on things like Devin’s ring gear and picking his finishing move. I’m also excited to present a romance that shows wrestling as realistically as possible. Or at least, as realistically as someone who isn’t in the business can. I’ve read a few other wrestling romances and struggled to suspend my disbelief on some of the plot points, because I know that would never happen. It’s like a scientist watching a sci-fi movie and flipping out because the characters do an experiment without a control group. (or something else that’s terribly horrifying to scientists.) And last, I’m excited to give the women and men who enjoy both wrestling and romance a chance to read a story set in a backdrop that they love.

  1. Last question is always the fun one. So, wrestling poses…they must be awkward for the “straight” viewer. Give us some of the best poses that make you giggle at all the homo-eroticism in play in such a testosterone fueled industry.Pin attempts nearly always lead to immature laughs. In order to pin someone in wrestling and score the victory, you basically have to lay on top of them. Sometimes you end up with pins like this:ambrollins fcw cesaro 69It’s just so hilarious. Like, what? That’s the best way you could come up with to show you won? Okaaaaaay. ;-)Thanks for having me on and letting me ramble about wrestling!Christa

My review:Shadows Never Leave (Shadows duet book 2) by Lark TaylorThis is book 2 of a duet and you must read book 1 first...a.co/d/06h9mALvThis one was a bit tough for me. Mostly because I enjoyed book 1 so much I was expecting more from book 2.A note that cheating doesn't really bother me in books. But I felt that having Ryan engaged when Dominic returns was a bit too much...After 10 years Dom (and Max) are back. Dom wants to win Ryan back. Max wants his twin back in his life. But Ryan isn't that 18 year old kid anymore. And he isn't taking anyone's crap either.Dom is totally annoying at first. Ryan jokingly calls him a stalker, but there were stalker vibes there. Which fit with his personality but still.Too much of the book is them just rehashing what happened when Dom left and the fact that they have had zero communication in that time. Over and over and over again. It got to the point where I was ready to throw my kindle if Ryan said "BUT YOU LEFT!" one more time. And it is sooooooo obvious that he and his fiance Katie don't belong together. They liked each other. Probably loved each other. And they were the type of couple to make it work and make it look perfect on the outside. But they would have ended up miserable. So yes, we get the HEA. But we had to trudge through some mud to get there.3 pieces of eye candy ... See MoreSee Less

Two Chicks Obsessed with Books and Eye Candy
New release and my review for:Seven Minutes by Raquel Riley At times this was a difficult read for me (stress for ME). But that didn't make it a bad book. Quite the contrary. Any book that stirs feelings in you is a book that hits home.We aren't yet privy to the relationship between Adrian and Eli when a horrific car accident brings Eli to Adrian's emergency room. (maybe a nitpick here but how did none of the staff know it was his husband??) The title refers to the 7 minutes after you die when your brain is still functioning. Which is really kind of scary to me. But it is through those 7 minutes of recollection by Eli that we get most of the back story.Being that this is a romance, I don't think it is much of a spoiler that Eli survives. But what comes next is picking up the pieces of their lives, and more importantly, their marriage. There are fights and apologies and explanations.... Eli is still ready to give up despite his love for Adrian. Adrian is not giving up because of his love of Eli.You don't appreciate what you have until you lose it. Or almost lose it.4 Pieces of Eye CandyOne click here 👉 a.co/d/0e1X1vOC ... See MoreSee Less
