Where the Grass is Greener by McGowan & O’Tierney : Blog Tour, Excerpt and Giveaway

October 8, 2015 by Denise

DMRO_WTGIG_533x800synopsis

Mistakes were made, that’s for sure. But was it the night of passion? Or walking away afterward?

That’s the question Seamus Williams must face when he gets a late night phone call from someone he never expects to hear from again.

“I miss you, Shay.”

Chancey Bo Clearwater is a cowboy through and through. He spends his days finding work on whatever ranch will take him and his nights at the pool hall. He’s always done what needed doing and never thought much about what he wanted. ’Til that drunken night with Seamus.

A world of problems now stand between Seamus and Chancey exploring what might have been, the least of which being the Atlantic Ocean. On one side there’s Chancey’s daughter who mood swings from angel to demon in two seconds flat; on the other there’s the new lodger, hogging Shay’s telly and his cornflakes, and making private Skype time hard to come by.

Is this relationship doomed before it ever begins? Or can a surprise announcement from Seamus’s brother be enough to help the two find their second chance?

Where the Grass is Greener features Seamus Williams – the older brother of Patrick from Leaving Flowers.

excerpt

“You’re quiet today, Seamus. What’s up?” the landlord asked.

“Just tired, is all. Got a leaky roof and the fecker was drippin’ all the damn night. And didn’t I get up this morning and kick the bucket?”

“You look alive and well to me, so you do. I say well…you look like shite.”

“Yeah, thanks very much. Think I’ll go join the lads, see if I can’t get a few more insults thrown at me.”Banner300x250

Seamus gave the landlord a wry grin and went over to the others, who were already well into the first of the three games they got in every lunchtime. He watched one of them take a bad shot and accidentally pot the black, the clunking of the ball as it rolled its way through the machinery of the table setting Seamus’s teeth on edge. John was right: he was dog-tired and probably did look like shite. He’d barely slept after the missed call, trying to decide whether to return it or not. His mind played tricks on him, one minute convincing him it was urgent and he should call back, the next telling him to stay strong. He’d made the move. He’d come back to Ireland. That’s what he’d wanted all along.

He had wanted it. Ever since Mam died, his sights had been set on coming home. He’d only stayed for Paddy’s sake, and now Paddy had Aidan there was nothing to keep Seamus in the States, although he was no further away from his brother now than he had been in Kansas. Never mind that he’d already made the decision before he knew Aidan even existed. No. It was a good decision. He was just—

He already knew, before he pulled his phone from his pocket: same Kansas number, same caller. His thumb hovered over the red button. Reject the call. Reject the call.

He answered.

“Seamus Williams.”

“At last! I thought I was calling a wrong number. Man, it’s so good to hear your voice.”

“Er, yeah. Yours too. What’s up? Has something happened?”

“Nothing new. I just…”

The rapid-hard thump of Seamus’s heart filled the pause, two seconds, three, four, and more. He drew breath to speak, but there was nothing to be said. Or nothing he should say.

“I miss you, Shay.”

***

The first call had been a drunk dial. Thank the heavenly father that Seamus Williams hadn’t picked up. Lord, the shit that might have come tumbling out of Chancey’s mouth. Now he was dead sober, but only slightly more composed. Had he really just said he’d missed Seamus? He tried for a laugh. It sounded as fake as it felt. Well he had missed Seamus. Nothin’ wrong with that.

“You gonna say somethin’?” He knew he was putting on the accent. Drawing out his vowels, droppings his g’s. His grandmother—who was from south Texas and who had an accent so deep it was digging itself a hole to the centre of the Earth—used to yell at him when he’d get lazy with his words.

You jus’ sound ign’rant, Chancey Bo Clearwater. Full name, cue snickering cousins, and young Chancey sank down low in his chair, ashamed at the way he sounded despite the fact they all talked just alike. The accent followed him when he moved to Oklahoma, where he picked up a whole set of strange ‘O’s, and even having lived in Kansas now for the better part of his life, it was still there underneath, just waiting to crop up in stressful situations.

“I didn’t expect to hear from you, that’s all.”

“Surprise.” He was trying for friendly, for calm. Trying to keep the I wanna put my fist through the wall and did you really mean to let me find out through Lulu? out of his voice.

“Isn’t this call costing you a million dollars?”

“Skype. On my phone. I bought minutes, y’know?”

“Is that right then?”

“But I didn’t think. It’s probably charging you too.”

“It’s fine.”

Is it? Seamus sure as hell wasn’t saying much. There was a long pause as Chancey considered his next move. He’d called because he’d wanted to talk. Not talk. Not like that. Nothing to say on that front. Seamus had made it all as clear as crystal dropped in the mud when he’d left his parting message with Lulu down at the pool hall, Rack ’Em. In a last-ditch effort, Chancey said the only thing he could think: “Boss Tina asked after you the other day when I went around for work.”

That got a laugh out of Seamus, which gave Chancey more relief than he cared to admit.

Author Interview

Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Debbie McGowan & Raine O’Tierney authors of Where the Grass is Greener!

Hi Debbie & Raine, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Tell us a little about yourself, your background, and your current book.

Hello! We’re Debbie McGowan and Raine O’Tierney, two halves of a fun writing whole. We started collaborating early in 2015 and we’ve been writing recklessly together ever since! Our new book is Where the Grass is Greener (book 2 of The Seeds of Tyrone)–in addition, we’re working on book three, have almost completed a new humorous intrigue book, and are about halfway into something dark and mysterious. Any time our queue gets low, we just add things to the pile!

  • Is there a character in your books that you can’t stand? (Antagonist for example) And what makes them someone you don’t like?

DM: I’d tell you who I despise in Where the Grass is Greener, but it’s a bit too spoilerish. 🙂 In the Seeds of Tyrone series as a whole, it’s Ms. Ashmore, the woman who raped Aidan (Leaving Flowers), and Harrison (Seeds of Tyrone 3, title tbc).

RO: I also despise the person Debs despises in Where the Grass is Greener! (Funny that, huh?)

  • Are there misconceptions people have about your genre?

DM: There’s a huge misconception that women can’t write stories about gay men, because they are not gay men. OK, so let’s assume that’s true, and I decide to write stories about…what? A woman from the north of England who writes books? That’s my life experience. If I can’t write about gay men because I’m not a gay man, then I can’t write about people who have cats, because I don’t have a cat. I can’t write about doctors, because I’m not a doctor, and so on. We’re all people, writing about people. We each have our own unique writing style. Regardless of our gender and sexuality, our stories will be more (or less) authentic to some readers than others.

RO: Misconception that annoys the HELL out of me. Because we’re writing about gay men, all our characters should be a stereotypical build (physically and mentally) of what people have read in other books. But we’re all individuals. I feel the slap ALL the time with virginity. What?! He’s 24?! Still a virgin?! What’s wrong with him?! But I’ve been friends with people in RL–gay, straight, and shades in between–who have been virgins because: they weren’t out, religious reasons, stunted development, no opportunity (yes, my friends, sometimes there’s just not opportunity) and so on… There are people who lose their virginity at 14 and people who die virgins. Again, all shades of the rainbow.

  • Is there message in your novel that you hope readers grasp?

DM: There wasn’t a deliberate ‘let’s make readers think about…’, or ‘we hope readers will take from this…’, but I guess…if it’s love you can’t hide from it. There’s no point running away.

RO: Yeah, with Leaving Flowers, we wanted to highlight the oft overlooked topic of female-on-male rape…but with Where the Grass is Greener, it’s more about love across distance.

  • How has your writing evolved since your first book?

DM: I know that readers will never forgive me if there isn’t a solid conclusion. They don’t like open endings. Of course, the alternative ending to Champagne was the club burning to the ground with the two main characters inside it. Is that better than an open ending with a hope things could work out?

RO: Will…refrain…from…answering…the Champagne question. (Debs knows Champagne triggers the hell out of me!)

  • One food you don’t care if you never eat it again.

DM: That’s different to outright hating it, isn’t it? Spaghetti, then. It’s long and messy and so unnecessary when there are all kinds of other pasta shapes that don’t throw themselves about and taste exactly the same.

RO: God I hate spaghetti so much. Unless it’s chicken spaghetti casserole! Then yes. All the yes. In fact, I might make that for dinner.

Small Steps Ebook Coversynopsis

Ben Amann currently hates everything: The accident that temporarily put him in a wheelchair, the fact that he has to go for rehab and live in an assisted living home as well. Sebastian Hofers, the good looking but equally bad-tempered new assistant to his rehab therapist changes that.

Sebastian has two choices after causing an accident while driving drunk: community service hours or go to jail. The decision is a no-brainer, and so he meets Ben at the rehab center. The two of them hit it off and slowly, Sebastian sees more than just a patient in Ben.

But their growing relationship faces hard trials, not only because of Sebastian’s heavy drinking, but also because of the truth: The two of them already met on an icy street, eight months ago.

Can love and forgiveness overcome the overwhelming guilt and resentment?

Contains: Two ill-tempered men, a lot of hang-ups, a shared hope, and a destroyed dream.

excerpt

Sebastian stepped out of the sticky bus. It was hot for that time of the year, and Germany was melting under a heat wave. Munich was no exception. The temperature was somewhere around 35°C and the air conditioning in the bus was either non-existent or not working. The fact that everyone and their mother seemed to have agreed to take this bus didn’t help to make it more bearable.Banner300x250

Sebastian took a deep breath, but it did nothing to cool him down. All he got was a lung full of heat, his sweat, and fumes. Fuck this shit. He could be at a bar right now, sipping a cold beer. But he wasn’t, thanks to that fucking judge.

He had to be here, the last place he wanted to be. Okay, a few meters more, then he reached the place. The sign was unmistakable: Rehabilitation Center. Fucking shit. That judge had had way too much fun sentencing him. Wasn’t there a law against such things? The urge to kick something, anything in his way, rose, but Sebastian grit his teeth. He was no sixteen-year-old anymore. Instead of kicking something, Sebastian peered into the windows. An empty desk sat near the entrance door. Nobody was there.

Sebastian took another deep breath, which did nothing to quell his anger, and slowly pushed open the door. He wouldn’t get his Community Service hours done by standing in front of the building. And if the judge had his way, Sebastian was going to be here quite a few hours. Two-hundred, to be precise. Fucking two-hundred hours of work in a rehab center. He should kill that judge.

Hi Chris, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Tell us a little about yourself, your background, and your current book.

  • Is there a character in your books that you can’t stand? (Antagonist for example) And what makes them someone you don’t like?

I have to think about it. No, not really. I don’t like bigoted people.

  • Are there misconceptions people have about your genre?

A lot. Romance is ‘filthy’, something to be ashamed of. It’s not. It’s about love. J

  • Is there message in your novel that you hope readers grasp?

Yeah. You can find love even against all odds.

  • How has your writing evolved since your first book? (If this is your first book, how do you hope it evolves?)

I think my writing got stronger, since I have worked with different editors since then. My plots also gained depth. (I hope)

  • One food you don’t care if you never eat it again.

Liver. Brrrr.

restaurated baroque palace in poland with garden

This large house was built by Daniel Sean McFarren in the mid 1800’s. The servant’s house shortly thereafter. It has gone through many upgrades and renovations through the years. Today it is a shining example of southern comfort and luxury.

Front Entry to McFarren Manor

This amazing entry makes a stunning first impression of a house that is magnificent throughout.

Gail's Bedroom

Gail is the one who added these glorious pillars. Carved from trees that came from the land the house sits on, there is a “fish” motif around the top of the pillars, depicting the McFarren’s unending faith in God.

The Canopy Room

Nick-named “the Canopy room” by one of the McFarren grandchildren from times past due to the high center ceiling, the name simply stuck. This is Bradley’s room when he is at the Manor. It boasts a large separate sitting room, a magnificent bathroom and a very private deck.

Logan's Bedroom

The most humble of all of the guest bedrooms in McFarren Manor. But it still has its own bathroom and small sitting room although, due to its proximity in the house, there is no access to an outside deck.

Library in luxury home with large desk

One of the soft spots in Bradley’s heart is this warm inviting room. He spent many hours reading and studying in this room while growing up and now he just enjoys spending time here.

All in all, this house is only that, a house. What makes this house a home is the same thing that makes any house a home – love.

Hurri Cosmo lives in Minnesota where she holds tight to the idea that there, where it’s cold a good part of the year, she won’t age as fast. Yep, she avoids the truth as much as she avoids mirrors. But one of the reasons she loves writing is reality doesn’t always offer up a “happily ever after” and being able to take control of that is a powerful lure. Being a happy ending junkie, writing just makes them easier to find. Oh, she doesn’t mind “real life” and she does try to at least keep it in mind when she writes her stories, but she truly loves creating a wonderful couple, knowing they will fall in love and have their HEA. Every – single – time. And, of course, that is exactly the reason she loves reading this genre, too. Give her a glass of red wine, some dark chocolate, and her computer, whether she is reading or writing, and she will entertain herself for hours. The fact she actually gets paid to do it is Snickers bars on the frosting on the cake.

Blurb for Best Kept Lies:

Shadow Play series (Book #1)

What becomes of the Russian spy who lands himself in the crosshairs of a rogue British agent?

Grigory Antipov’s work within the intelligence community is exemplary, but attracting too much attention is against his interests as a spy—a lesson painfully learned the night he is abducted off the streets of Rome. Captivity is a dangerous thing and Grigory already operates under a cloud of suspicion, given his predilection for male company. Luckily, his stint in British custody is short-lived, a mere flex of muscle from Agent Karim Awad.

Karim’s objective is obvious. Lure Grigory into Section’s clutches and turn him against his own people—expose him to the wrath of Moscow if he refuses. His mission brief may not specify the methods to be used, but Grigory soon discovers that Karim is a man of many talents. With powerful interests at play and the threat of deadly force in the air, Grigory faces an impossible choice—surrender to his fate or sacrifice the only man whose touch makes him feel alive after so many years.

James Bond Crying into His Martini

Helena Maeve

Before Best Kept Lies was a blip on my editor’s radar, I’d already dipped my toes into this genre once before. My first attempt, a short novella called In the Presence of Mine Enemy, had been well-received and writing it had been really enjoyable. But my fascination with spies was still in its infancy. I wasn’t as taken with Bondian gadgets as I became obsessed with trying to imagine what Bond might be like once the baddies were defeated and all the Bond girls went home. Did he cry into his martini? Did he go home and try to wash the blood out of his suits?

Did he even have a home?

Per popular culture, espionage conjures visions of dapper Englishmen dodging bullets while spouting catchy one-liners even as they save grateful and sexy damsels with one hand and defeat stock villains with the other. The protagonists can be silly or sexy, or both, but they are seldom allowed to lament their chosen profession, much less break free of it. At best, they’re permitted a heroic exit. At worst, they’re rebooted again and again, a fresh new face taking up the banner of improbable stunts and unambiguous morality.

In writing Best Kept Lies, I was keen to focus on what happens behind the scenes, in between car chases. Enter Grigory, Russian spy working in not-so-friendly Europe, freshly caught in the British Intelligence Services’ net. While his daily routine may indeed involve bespoke suits and dead drops, he is also a man acutely aware of what he stands to lose. Never has this been clearer than when his attempt to recruit a British spy lands him in the crosshairs of a rival agent.

Karim has both the manpower and the authorization to bring him in, but what he wants most is to make of Grigory a double-agent serving Britain’s interests in Moscow. Placed in an impossible position, Grigory’s only hope is to eliminate Karim before word of this travels back to Russia and he is decisively put to pasture. Both Karim and Grigory are experienced senior agents, far too sensible to let anything as petty as personal affinity get in the way of doing their jobs. And yet longevity in the world of espionage goes hand in hand with solitude. Finding a kindred spirit is more than either of them could have ever hoped for—a good thing, too, as their burgeoning affair threatens their very lives.BestKeptLies_HelenaMaeve_BlogTour_WebBanner-750

Excerpt from Best Kept Lies:

Missed opportunity.

The vibration of the subway car and the tooth-drill noise of the tracks did little to dispel the thought. Although the director would never say it outright and in their interactions he was every bit the patient mentor Grigory had always known, he knew he’d been disappointing during their interview.

Given how much he traveled, Grigory only had a scattered few chances to impress his superiors. And he came unprepared. Exhausted. His mind resolutely elsewhere.

If his next assignment saw him relegated to Vladivostok, it wouldn’t come as a surprise.

Grigory grabbed the steel bar and levered to his feet as the train slowed into station. Crisp evening gales buffeted his cheeks and the cement stairs leading up to the surface. He didn’t mind the climb or the slippery walk down to his apartment building. He needed the exercise.

Did they even have escalators in Vladivostok?

There was no sign of his busybody neighbor as he slotted his key in the door and stomped his feet to shake off the melting snow. His mailbox overflowed with pamphlets and advertisements. He shot it a baleful glare in passing but resisted the urge to clear it out.

Tomorrow. He would find time for it tomorrow.

He shifted the bag of groceries from one hand to the other as he trotted up the stairs. This was his life. He could get used to it again. Warm, crowded Rome was already losing its grip on him. Soon he wouldn’t miss the coffee or the food. He’d forget the smells and sounds of the city—just in time for his next mission.

Idle thoughts consumed Grigory’s attention. He was on the landing, halfway to his apartment door, when he noticed the sliver of light slanting through the gap.BestKeptLies_HelenaMaeve_BlogTour_SocialMedia-612

The plastic bag slid free from his hand. Two apples rolled out. One thumped lazily against the door, nudging it open a little farther. The other rolled right into the apartment, where it tapped softly at a black, heavy-duty climbing boot.

Karim picked it up and took a casual bite.

synopsis

Rory Donovan’s life is a hot mess. His marriage is failing and he’s in intensive psychotherapy, working through the unfortunate side effects of memories from a childhood trauma. The only thing good in his life right now is his job—teaching photography to gifted high school students.

Harbor Patrol officer Bennett Foster is co-parenting his teenage daughter with his high school best friend Jessie. When he meets Addison’s teacher and realizes they’ve met before, he can’t get the sexy stranger out of his head.

Striking up a sexual-tension-filled friendship, together they must help an angsty teenager deal with a dying friend. Bennett must keep his little family from falling apart while Rory struggles to come to terms with his new reality. Somewhere along the way, most unexpectedly…love happens.

michelle review

WELL……That was an emotional rollercoaster I wasn’t expecting.   I am an addict when it comes to the M/M genre. I have read a lot of books. Some I will remember the general concept of the book. Some I remember the MCs and most of what happened. Some I read, but can’t remember a thing and that’s not because they weren’t good – It is because I have read so many there is no way to keep every storyline and every character straight. Let me tell you – THIS….this amazing story will stay with me forever. I will remember every character – every detail – every emotion I felt while reading and every tear that fell for agony, joy & journey all the characters went through.

Let’s meet these fantastic characters shall we…..

Rory – the happy-go-lucky teacher on the outside who is being crushed on the inside.

Maia – wife of Rory who wants the sexual aspect of the marriage that is missing. (Don’t worry, no girly bits are featured)

Bennett – scrumptious Harbor Patrol officer hiding his sexuality from everyone except close friends & family & #1 Dad to Addison

Jessie – Bennett’s best friend & mother to Addison (OMG….you will just love her)

Addison – Rory’s photographer student & depressed teen dealing with more adult issues than an adult. Your heart will break for her, but she is once tough cookie.

Now that the intros are out of the way – time to get down to why you should read this. Mostly everyone likes to read of a broken man who gets “fixed” by another. “Unbreak Broken” is SO much more than that.   JK Hogan does a tremendous job in bringing an assortment of characters around full circle.   Rory & Bennett start off as acquaintances and slowly build to being more. The build-up & tension is OFF THE DARN CHARTS (explosion to follow). The character development for all of them was flawless.   You will get to see how truly broken Rory is even though he didn’t realize why he was. Bennett (sigh….God than man melts my heart) sees right through Rory and immediately knows there is something unsettling about him.   We follow them on a journey of self-discovery and watch as they fall in love!

There is not much more to add without giving spoilers (which is big no-no for me) – SO – If you are looking for a book that will pull at your heart strings, put a smile on your face and make you appreciate life and all the beautifulness it can give than this is the book for you!   If I could give 10 stars I would….Actually that gives me a thought.   Might have to do another review to give it the 10 stars is so deserves.  Five fantastic pieces of eye candy!

excerpt

Dr. Conlan treated me to a rare fond smile, almost motherly in its warmth. “I’m pleased to see you happier than you have been.”

I grinned back, but then my brow furrowed. “Does this make me gay?”

“Does that matter?”960x350

“I don’t know. Should it?”

“I’ll never understand the fascination with labeling things that our society seems to have. To me, sexuality is as intangible as the universe. There’s no way to truly know what’s out there, and how it all relates to everything else.

“As humans, we seek to know, to understand, and somehow we feel that putting things in boxes and labeling helps us do that. But some things are fluid, changing and developing with the tide of the evolution of life. Do me a favor, Rory. Don’t put yourself in a box.”

I was dumbfounded, stunned speechless. I knew I’d remember Dr. Conlan’s words for the rest of my life, and I would try to stay as true to them as I could. “I won’t,” I whispered.

Interview with Rory Donovan:

1. What did you want to be when you were a kid?

It was between a fairy tale prince and a major league baseball player. Gotta have goals, right?

  1. What do you value the most in your friends?

Their strength. I have a close knit group of friends, and they’ve all been through some difficult struggles, and they handled them with class. If it weren’t for my friends and Bennett, I couldn’t have made it through the past year.

  1. What is your favorite song?

When Will My Life Begin from Tangled. Don’t judge me!

  1. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Well, I definitely could do without my Celiac disease. Knowing that the wrong food could put me in the hospital isn’t exactly relaxing, you know?

  1. What word or phrase do you overuse?

How about “The bell doesn’t dismiss you, I dismiss you,” and other high school goodies.

synopsis

It’s taken Tommy Newsome a while to get his head around being gay.

Growing up in a small town in Georgia, hasn’t prepared him for the more liberal life of a student at the university in Athens. Add to that the teachings of his parents and his church, and you have one shy young man who feels out of his depth. Working on his daddy’s farm hasn’t given him any chance of a social life, certainly not one like the clubs of Atlanta have on offer. Not that Tommy feels comfortable when he gets to sample it—Momma’s lectures still ring loudly inside his head.

All that changes when he goes to his first gay bar and sets eyes on Mike Scott.

When Mike’s not behind the bar at Woofs, he’s busy with his life as adult entertainer Scott Masters. Twenty years in the industry and the times, they are a-changing. Mike’s not had much luck in the relationship department, but as his mom is fond of telling him, you keep fishing in the same pond, you’re gonna reel in the same kind of fish. Maybe it’s time for a change.

And then a beautiful young man asks Mike to be his first….

excerpt

“I see your stalker’s here again.”

“Huh?” Mike frowned. “What are you talking about now, Kev?” He concentrated on the drink order for Dave and his friends over in the corner.

Kevin grinned and flicked his head toward the rear of the bar. “You know exactly who I’m talking ’bout. Mr. Cutie Pie over there with the muscles. Y’know, the one who’s been sitting on that barstool every Saturday night for the last five weeks?” He arched his eyebrows. “Don’t give me that ‘butter wouldn’t melt’ act. I seen you looking.” His grin widened. “G’on, tell me I’m wrong.”

Mike wasn’t about to give him the satisfaction. “You’re wrong,” he stated emphatically.

Kevin stared. “Hell, you’re a poor liar.” Then his eyes gleamed. “In that case, you can take him his burger, tater tots, and Cherry Coke. Maybe you could even get him to say a few words beyond ‘Hey.’ ’Cause I swear that’s all I’ve ever heard out of that pretty little mouth of his.”

Mike snickered. “I think if I spoke to him, he’d piss his pants.”

Kevin guffawed and went off to the back of the bar. Inside Mike was cursing himself. He’d been careful not to glance too openly at the guy. Those queens he worked with were too damn good at spotting when one of them was taking an interest in a customer. And fuck it, he was interested in the painfully shy but so sexy young man who hadn’t said a word.

“And then there’s the fact that every time he comes in here,” Kevin continued, appearing beside him as if there hadn’t been a break in conversation, “I watch him look ’round the bar ’til he sees you.” That grin was still in place.

“Are you still going on about him?” Mike demanded. “Sure you’re not the one here who’s fixating?”

Kevin held up his hands. “I just call it like I see it. I think he’s only here to ogle you.”

“Well, he’s gonna be disappointed if he turns up in a couple week’s time, isn’t he, ’cause I won’t be here.”

Kevin’s brow furrowed. “Since when do you not work on weekends?”

“Since I’ll be in LA, that’s when.” Mike returned his grin. “Remember?”960x350(1)

“Oh, yeah, you’ve got a shoot. I’d clean forgotten.” He faked a sad face. “Aw, how you gonna cope without seeing that gorgeous bod?” He leered. “Then again, don’t worry your head about it. I’m sure me or Patrick can take care of him.” He waggled his eyebrows.

Mike groaned. “For fuck’s sake, just leave the kid alone, okay? He’s not hurting anyone.” Mike had seen enough to know the guy wasn’t going to be a problem. He preferred this quiet observation to the occasional gropings of fans when he made appearances at Hustlaball or Southern Decadence. The kid appeared to have good manners.

“Here’s his order.” Kevin handed him the tray containing the Angus burger, tater tots, and Cherry Coke. “I’m sure he’ll be delighted to get it from you.” That shit-eating grin just wouldn’t quit.

Mike shook his head and took the tray. He walked over to where the young guy sat, his eyes widening as Mike approached. “Here you go,” Mike said cheerfully, setting the food down in front of him.

The young guy blushed furiously. “Th-thanks.” He lowered his gaze and commenced picking at his tots.

Mike retreated to a safe distance and watched him while he ate. He liked the look of those wide shoulders, the reddish-brown hair, not too short, the barest hint of scruff on his jawline and those striking green eyes. His skin was creamy where it showed, which spoke of a lot of time spent covered up. With his coloring, that was understandable. But that body was speaking even louder to Mike’s dick, which was definitely interested, judging by the way it filled as he feasted on the delectable view before him.

His attention was forcibly drawn away when someone pinched his ass, good and hard.

“You are so busted.”

Fucking Kevin.

Born and raised in the north-west of England, K.C. WELLS always loved writing. Words were important. Full stop. However, when childhood gave way to adulthood, the writing ceased, as life got in the way. K.C. discovered erotic fiction in 2009, when the purchase of a ménage storyline led to the startling discovery that reading about men in love was damn hot. In 2012, arriving at a really low point in life led to the desperate need to do something creative. An even bigger discovery waited in the wings—writing about men in love was even hotter….

K.C. now writes full-time and is loving every minute of her new career. The laptop still has no idea of what hit it… it only knows that it wants a rest, please. And it now has to get used to the idea that where K.C goes, it goes.

And as for those men in love that she writes about? The list of stories just waiting to be written is getting longer… and longer….

Two Chicks Obsessed with Books and Eye Candy
My reviewSuck by Cora Rose and EM LindseyI really wish we could do half stars because this was a solid 4 1/2 for me. And I am not one to read monster or alien books. I did read the first couple of chapters of this when the teaser was released and I couldn't wait for the whole story. It's a post pandemic world and Everest has lost his parents and is living with a very strict aunt and uncle. There are some time jumps which are done really well. From when he first lost his parents up to when he turns 18 and can move out and finally present day when he is 21 and can "do his duty". And I can't say a lot about that because I will be censored but see title and I'm sure you can figure it out.At first Everest was intrigued. And then a little freaked out. Then angry. But he still followed through with what Rathyn wanted. Which was him basically at his beck and call. They definitely developed a relationship that went far past their original agreement even though it wasn't explicitly allowed. Everest didn't really know that at first because the alien world was kept from humans for the most part. Very little was known and what was known, humans had to sign an NDA.The world building was really well done. Both on Earth and Erethar. Earth sounded so desolate after the last pandemic but Erethar sounded just beautiful. What kept that 1/2 a star from my rating? Two things. First, Everest basically abandons his best friend. Yes, he does call and see him after a while- but it is after some time. These guys were bff. Moving into an apartment together when they turned 18, hanging out together all of the time, etc. Didn't seem right. And even though Everest identified as straight at the beginning he moved right into being bi (or gay or pan or whatever just not straight) with Rathyn and didn't do any questioning of it. I know, monster alien but still. A little soul searching maybe. So yes, I thought it was a super fun read that was sexy and swoony and kept me turning the pages. Can't wait for book 2!4 1/2 pieces of eye candy ... See MoreSee Less

They need something from humans. Something oddly specific in order to survive. And that's when the government begins recruiting for a ritual that sounds a lot like a cross-dimensional booty call.Normally an exclusivity contract with a monster called Rathyn of the Dark Vale would be a hard pass, but the more time I spend with him, the more I realize there’s more to this whole monster/human thing than what the government is telling us.I want to believe it’s nothing more than an arrangement, but the way he melts under my touch, and the way he’s constantly seeking more, makes me believe that maybe his fate is wrapped up in my own. It’s no longer about what I can do for him. It's about what we mean to each other.I’m Everest Hale, and I’m doing my part to save the world with my… Well, I’m not at liberty to discuss, but let’s just say it’s given with vigorous enthusiasm. You’re welcome, Earth.Suck is the first book in the MM Monster Romance series Feed and Feast. Two Chicks Obsessed with Books and Eye Candy
✨EXCERPT: LICKED by @charlienwrites releasing May 12th!#PreOrderNowmybook.to/lickitoneThis was a date. A romantic date. One that I desperately wanted to go well. So well that Alfie might even be open to kissing me. That would be wonderful. I just couldn’t get my hopes up, because if it went badly, or even if there was no kissing, I’d be devastated. I tried to think about other things as I walked into town towards Vito’s, a small Italian restaurant in the middle of town where we’d agreed to go for dinner. I’d been there before quite a few times and always enjoyed the food, although it could get a little loud and overwhelming at the weekend when it was busy, simply due to the size of the space. But no matter what I tried to turn my thoughts to, they all came stubbornly back to Alfie and how I wanted tonight to go. Eventually I gave up trying to think of anything else, and instead let myself create a list of questions or talking points, just in case we ran out of things to say. Which seemed impossible considering how much we messaged, but it was always good to be prepared. When I rounded the corner to Vito’s, I stopped dead in my tracks, my eyes not fully processing what was in front of me. Alfie was stood just outside on the cobbles in a pair of cream trousers and a pale pink shirt, his honey-blond hair clearly styled… and a bouquet of deep red roses in his arms, wrapped in paper and tied with black ribbon. He looked so gorgeous it stole my breath, but the roses… I’d never had anyone bring me flowers before. #charlienovak #mmromance #kindleunlimited The Author Agency ... See MoreSee Less
