Shrewd Angel (The Christmas Angel Series Book 5) by Anyta Sunday: Blog Tour, Review and Giveaway

December 19, 2018 by Denise

Pax Polo is the swashbuckling guitarist for Serenity Free.

Correction: Was the swashbuckling guitarist for Serenity Free.

Now he sports a black eye and his bros have kicked him out of their band—three weeks before Christmas. It’s an unfamiliar kick to his over-inflated ego, but . . . whatever.

No problem.

Thanks to some stellar eavesdropping, an unexpected angel ornament, and a bribe to open for his favorite band ever, Pax will weasel his way back into his mates’ good graces.

All he has to do is friend Clifford, the neighborhood man-shrew, for the summer. Distract him a bit so Clifford’s younger sister can sneak around.

It sounds like a piece of beginners Beethoven. Jolly good fun.

Easy.

Because, Pax totally knows how to friend people. He has heaps of friends. This shrew’s no match for his shrewd ways. Or is he?

Length: 70,000 words approx.

Cover Design: Meredith Russell

The Christmas Angel Series

In 1750, a master woodcarver poured all his unrequited love, passion, and longing into his masterpiece—a gorgeous Christmas angel for his beloved’s tree. When the man he loved tossed the angel away without a second thought, a miracle happened. The angel was found by another who brought the woodcarver True Love.

Since then, the angel has been passed down, sold, lost and found, but its magic remains. Read the romances inspired by (and perhaps nudged along by) the Christmas angel through the years. Whether it’s 1700s England (Eli Easton’s Christmas Angel), the 1880’s New York (Kim Fielding’s Summerfield’s Angel), the turn-of-the-century (Jordan L. Hawk’s Magician’s Angel), World War II (L.A. Witt’s Christmas Homecoming), Vietnam-era (N.R. Walker’s Soldier’s Wish), the 1990’s (Anyta Sunday’s Shrewd Angel), or 2018 (RJ Scott’s Christmas Prince), the Christmas angel has a way of landing on the trees of lonely men who need its blessing for a very Merry Christmas and forever HEA.

Perfect cover! Hey, hot guy!

Mmmmkay, so, first thing’s first… I know nothing of this Shakespeare – Taming of the Shrew. I wish I did because then I might not have been so annoyed with Pax in the beginning. He was conceited and entitled and once his band had given him the boot, he was all about scheming to get himself back in, even though he kind of deserved the swift kick out . So, maybe he didn’t do what they thought he did, he didn’t do anything to disabuse them of the idea that he did. Just a snarky, smug, smile… I’d have knocked him in the mouth too! However, my heart did break for him when I learned the real reason. What terrible people they all were.

So, since the band decided they’d figure out what to do with him after Christmas, he moved in with a nice Italian boy looking for a roommate. Luca was cute, and half in love with the girl next door. The problem with that was, she had a “shrew” brother who wouldn’t let her so much as look at a boy, and the neighbor on the other side had a crush on her too. Bonus for Pax… the neighbor on the other side, who seemed like almost a big of douche as Pax, had Rockstar family who Pax could sure use in getting his band back. All he had to do was keep the neighbor shrew busy so the girl next door could take her pick of which boy she liked and maybe spend time with them. Very cute idea…. Very 10-things-I-hate-about-you, 90’s era, teenage movie.

Pax and the Shrew, his name is Cliff… their banter was cute, in a Cliff hates any and everything other than studying law-enforcement books and making sure his sister has zero fun in her life, and Pax takes nothing serious ever and thinks he can charm the pants off anyone he so much as blinks at. I was glad to see Cliff give him a little run for his money. It put him in place a bit.

However, the more we get to know them both, the deeper we get into who they both are and why they are the way they are. It was a hard go… They’re both so incredibly stubborn and watching them together, the push and pull was so worth everything.

I loved Lucca, Binaca and I even learned to love Henry. What I didn’t love and wish I could’ve had more karmic justice, was Pax’s band. I wish they would’ve gotten more of a middle finger and the angel to do her juju and ruin all of them for the way they treated Pax, especially Blake. I was glad that Pax finally came to his senses, but I wish he’d have gotten back at them more… I’m super petty that way. I’d blame it on my age, but I can’t.

In saying all of that…. The bickering, the back and forth, the hurt feelings and stubbornness was so worth it in the end. I absolutely adored this story… I’m not usually one for billionaires, or rock stars, or huge CEO’s who have more money in sense…. So I was reluctant when I started this one. I just can’t help it, I like my boys, blue-collar every day folks….I shouldn’t have been though, because I’ve read several by this author and adored every single one of them…. This one was no different. 5 very easy stars from me!! What a perfect ending! <3

A Soldier’s Wish (The Christmas Angel Series) by N.R. Walker: Blog Tour, Review and Giveaway

December 17, 2018 by Denise

The year is 1969…

Gary Fairchild is proud to be a hippie college student, and he protests the Vietnam War because he believes in love and peace. To him, it isn’t just a counterculture movement—it’s a way of life. When tickets to the Aquarium Exposition—3 Days of Peace & Music, or Woodstock, as it was better known, go on sale, there’s no way he isn’t going.

Richard Ronsman is a sheltered farm boy who lives in the shadow of his overbearing father. He’s hidden his darkest secret to earn his father’s love, but nothing is ever good enough—not even volunteering for the Vietnam War. And with just a few days left before he’s deployed, he’s invited by a striking hippie to join him at a music festival.

Three days of music, drugs, rain, mud, and love forged a bond between these two very different men that would shape the rest of their lives. They share dreams and fears, and when Richard is shipped off to war, they share letters and love. For Richard’s first Christmas home, he is gifted a special angel ornament that just might make a soldier’s wish come true.

This story is one of seven stories which can all be read and enjoyed in any order.

Gary and his friends are on a break from school and on their way to Woodstock, cuz… heck yeah, they are!
Classified as a “hippie” and don’t judge me because I was born in the ’80s, but neither Gary or his friends really felt like the classic “good-for-nothing, earth-hugging, vegan-types-of-the-new-millennium we have these days lol He was amazing. The wisdom he had, and his compassion and patience. You can’t help but fall in love with him immediately.

Anyway, on the road an entire hour, Gary and his friends decide to stop at a little diner on the way. That’s where Gary sees a sad looking solider, sitting alone at a table looking like he might cry. Now, maybe it’s the day I’m having or maybe it’s the other’s I’ve read in this awesome, Christmas-time series, or maybe it’s a tiny reminder of what seems like everyone has forgotten….Vietnam. Either way… I was crying from the beginning. Happy Monday!

Richard has just visited his family before being shipped out, and having enlisted for the wrong reasons and being confused about who he was, and why… I was so glad that he found Gary. Like I mentioned, Gary was so compassionate and so full of wisdom. He helped Richard acknowledge who he was when he offered him the lifeline of 3 days at Woodstock.

I adored their time together, dancing, singing, experimenting… and just being. It hurt so bad when those days were up and Richard had to go. No stranger to ugly crying, I didn’t even try to hold it back. Deciding to write to each other while Richard was away, it broke my heart to see him go.

Those letters though… those letters were everything. Getting to know each other and keeping each other sane in a time when everyone overseas needed a little bit of sanity. They fell in love through those letters and made plans for their future, and I believe it was probably the only thing that kept Richard going. And that Gary was going on with his life, making plans for them to be together when Richard finally returned. It was sweet and hopeful, and I was dying for them to finally get their happily ever after.

Unfortunately, there were so many obstacles in their way. War and destruction, of course, but also it’s hard to imagine, in today’s world, but it wasn’t long ago, and it still is in so many places, illegal for two people of the same sex to be together. Doesn’t that just seem insane? Like, literally, inconceivable. Who’s business is that? How would you prove it, if you suspected it? People were really arrested for it? What a sick and sad time to be a minority. It’s getting better all the time, but I look forward to a day when there is no distinction at all. No gay marriage, just marriage. No, same-sex relationships, just relationships. Here’s to hoping!

But, together, again with Gary being so amazing, patient, persistent and reassuring, they got through it all together. I know I said it last book, but this one might just be my favorite. Not only because I love this author, but because once I started it, I couldn’t even go to the bathroom, I didn’t want to put it down.

I loved all of it. Gary’s best friend Kat and his amazingly accepting and wonderful parents…. So sweet. And the quotes. I highlighted more in this short story than I ever have, any book, ever. It was all so profound. Just… if you haven’t, you really should read this one, and of course, we get the Christmas Angel. I can’t wait to see who she blesses next.

What a great Christmas read. Loved it!

N.R. Walker is an Australian author, who loves her genre of gay romance. She loves writing and spends far too much time doing it, but wouldn’t have it any other way.

She is many things; a mother, a wife, a sister, a writer. She has pretty, pretty boys who she gives them life with words.

She likes it when they do dirty, dirty things…but likes it even more when they fall in love. She used to think having people in her head talking to her was weird, until one day she happened across other writers who told her it was normal.

She’s been writing ever since…

Christmas Homecoming (The Christmas Angel Book 4) by L.A. Witt: Blog Tour, New Release Review and Giveaway

December 12, 2018 by Denise

August 1939. Roger Miller and Jack O’Brien have been close since childhood. By the time they realize there’s more between them than friendship, Jack is leaving their sleepy Iowa town for college. But they console themselves knowing he’ll be home for Christmas. Right?

It is Christmas before they see each other again, but that Christmas comes six years and a world war later. Aged, beaten, and shaken by combat, they’re not the boys they were back then, but their feelings for each other are stronger than ever.

Neither know the words to say everything they’ve carried since that peacetime summer kiss, though. Even as they stand in the same room, there’s a thousand miles between them.

But maybe that’s some distance the little angel in Roger’s rucksack can cross.

This 24,000 word novella is part of the multi-author Christmas Angel series, and can be read as a standalone.

This one might’ve been my favorite so far in these little short stories with the magical angel.

Best friends, Jack and Roger are about to go their separate ways, one to college and one in the army. They aren’t sure where life will take them, but they promise to stay in touch. One last hurrah at the swimming hole the day before Jack is set to leave, brings a whole new light to their friendship…. They kiss…. They kiss and then realize that their feelings for each other are much deeper than friendship, and how much time they’ve lost because they didn’t realize it sooner.

My heart broke for these two… I ugly cried at two in the morning from the unfairness of it all. After being drafted and both men sent to war, they lost touch, for six years, until one is on leave and the other is honorably discharged from shell shock and they meet again in their hometown.

It’s awkward at first, because they don’t know where to go from there. They both used each other as a way to stay sane during the war, thinking of each other and dreaming of being able to be together again one day. I couldn’t even imagine what it was like for men and women back then, unable to be who they are or be with who they love. Having to hide or keep such a secret. How incredibly sad.

You can feel how much these two love each other. How each of them despaired at the thought of losing the other one to the war or because their families were hounding them to get married. They had to walk away from each other when they were just kids, and now that they’re back together, they face the same struggles…. Luckily, while on leave another time, Roger was window shopping at a junk shop and found a Christmas angel. You know what that means….

So, with a little bit of that angel’s magic and a love that even time couldn’t dull… they admitted their feelings to each other and vowed that nothing was going to separate them again. If anyone deserved a HEA, it was these two… I cried and then cried and then cried a little more. Some of it sad, but by the end, it was all happy.

What an awesome story. I can’t wait to see who the angel picks next!

L.A. Witt is an abnormal M/M romance writer who has finally been released from the purgatorial corn maze of Omaha, Nebraska, and now spends her time on the southwestern coast of Spain. In between wondering how she didn’t lose her mind in Omaha, she explores the country with her husband, several clairvoyant hamsters, and an ever-growing herd of rabid plot bunnies. She also has substantially more time on her hands these days, as she has recruited a small army of mercenaries to search South America for her nemesis, romance author Lauren Gallagher, but don’t tell Lauren. And definitely don’t tell Lori A. Witt or Ann Gallagher. Neither of those twits can keep their mouths shut…

Quick-witted hustler Ghost is no stranger to living dangerously; survival has always been the name of the game. He’s just always gone it alone. Now he’s got the wrong people breathing down his neck, and the only way out demands placing his trust in the unlikeliest of heroes: Duncan Rook, a gruff cop whose ethics are as solid as his body.

Cozying up to a criminal is hardly what Duncan’s reputation on the force needs–especially when that criminal is temptation personified. Ghost is Duncan’s polar opposite, and the last person he expected to fall for.

So then why does every imaginable scenario for taking down their common enemy end with Ghost in his arms?

Duncan didn’t look at him, but that didn’t matter because he didn’t need to. He could feel Ghost stretched out next to him, his long, slim body akimbo on the duvet, his narrow bare feet dangling off the edge of the bed. He wasn’t that close, not really—his knee was a foot and a half away from Duncan’s thigh, but that didn’t matter, either, because it might as well be an inch.

Ghost didn’t feel it, Duncan reminded himself. He didn’t have this electricity under his skin at the mere idea of touch. Because Ghost didn’t want him. Ghost didn’t want anybody.

He jerked his mind back on track. “I think the safest way for them is if we ship one of these next-day air. We can set it up in advance and save the number of our phone in the contacts. This way, if we get busted before we can ditch the phone we used, when Spratt traces the number we called, all he’ll get is the address

of the store where the phones were bought.” By Estee, which Duncan didn’t like, but with cash, which he did like. And even if her face had been caught on a security camera, the chances that a Verizon store would hold on to unremarkable footage for days or weeks at a time were minuscule.

“If we’re going to take the risk of going out in public to ship these, we might as well buy some clothes for you that fit,” Duncan pointed out. “And we should change motels too, in case someone picks up our trail.”

“And leave our castle?” Ghost asked wryly, waving a hand at the general splendor of their motel room. When he lowered his hand, though, he let it land against Duncan’s hip. The knuckles pressed against his jeans, and though there was no way the heat of his skin was actually making it through the denim, he felt scorched all the same.

Duncan glanced over his shoulder, his heart hammering all of a sudden. Ghost lay there like a cat, limbs stretched out, his expression hard to read. There was defiance in the tilt of his chin, unconcern in the relaxed curve of his mouth, caution in his eyes. And something else, some impossible emotion that Duncan couldn’t deconstruct that tied the whole thing together.

He’s fucking with you, part of Duncan’s brain whispered, and that made sense to an extent. But it also didn’t. Something about this rang differently. Duncan trusted his instincts, and his instincts said that this wasn’t a game. Ghost was watching him too carefully, was too invested in the outcome. No, it wasn’t a game.

It was a test.

For a moment, Duncan wondered what answer Ghost was expecting. Something aggressive, probably. Sex ual. He’d say yes, Duncan suspected. If he rolled over and put his hands on Ghost right now, he’d let him. He’d probably kiss him back and make those small noises of hunger that he’d made in Duncan’s kitchen the other day. He’d make it believable. But it would be fake, because Ghost didn’t actually want him, and at some point, he’d do that empty doll thing, and Duncan would feel sick all over again, and he didn’t want any of that.

He let his eyes drop to Ghost’s hand on his hip and said, “This isn’t necessary.”

“What if I want to?”

“Are you referring to sex or touching my hip? Because I’m not comfortable with the first, but this is fine if you’re actually in need of reassuring contact.”

Ghost’s forehead furrowed. “‘Actually in need of reassuring contact,’” he repeated. “You are something else, Rook, you know that?”

“The real question is how we can get a new motel room without getting recognized.”

Ghost laughed under his breath and pulled his hand back. “Leave that to me.”

Holy emotional ruin!

So, I needed a couple of days before I tried to sit down and write this one out, and let me tell you now, that is extremely rare for me. I knew that Ghost’s story was going to chew me up and spit me out, because what page time he has on the previous two books, he chewed me up and spit me out. He was so complicated and dangerous, and yet, he was just a kid. He was a survivor in every since of the meaning, but it had torn him apart to the point that he didn’t know who he was. No one did, because every aspect of his being was a lie. To protect himself or one of the few people he cared about… everything was a fabrication for self-preservation. (say that 10 times, fast)….Still… you couldn’t help but love him, and want to help him, and hug him… I related most with Tobias, because I just loved through it, even all the bad.

Speaking of Tobias, we see him and Sullivan help Ghost in the last book, when they sent him with a good friend of Sullivan’s…. retired officer Walt. And that’s where we pick up… with Walt taking him to someone he trusted because he couldn’t be enough to keep Ghost safe from not only the dirty cop we read about in the last book, but also the Russian- Mama.

If I go into detail, I’ll spoil the whole thing, and normally, I wouldn’t care to do that… but with Ghost… it’s best if you experience all the surprises for yourself. It was like an action movie that had my blood pressure fluctuating with each chapter. I cried for Ghost so much… man, did I… The life he’d lived, the life he was forced into and the life he chose… it was haunting and horrible… but when he tried.. when he really wanted to try, for Duncan, who you’ll meet and also fall in love with…the way he wanted to be more for him… the way he tried to better himself, the way he done whatever he could, no matter how badly it hurt him, to be good enough for someone else…. Jeeeeeez, I went THROUGH IT!

Of course, with Ghost, you have two very different situations he’s trying to survive, and Duncan, the definition of a “Buddy Cop”, who had morals and values and was honestly good to the core, helping him not only survive two very different, deadly situation that Ghost found himself in, but he also was helping him from himself.

This book hurt.

It was worth it, but, it hurt. Because of that though… it so much sweeter when Ghost finds himself and learns to love… and he does, make no mistake. He loves Duncan, and learns what it means to be loved BY Duncan….mostly because he had to work really hard for it.

The only thing I was a little bit disappointed by, was the ending. I hoped that Ghost would get the happiest of happy endings… for all that he’d been through, I wanted so much for him. He deserved all the love and the overtopness, even though, you’ll find that it’s neither him or Duncan, but still… I was hoping for, especially since the ending, we cut to four years later…. But I hoped for big declarations, a wedding, friends, family… all the stuff that he’d missed out on so much in his life…. And though the happy we get is still happy…so don’t worry.. I just hoped for so much more.

BUT, in saying that… I loved Church… so much, and I had such a soft spot for Tobias… but Ghost… Ghost is one that I’ll likely never forget and I love, love, love when that happens.

5, of the hardest, easily deserved stars I’ve ever given.

Fire and Agate by Andrew Grey: Release Day Review

November 6, 2018 by Denise

When Chris Anducci is moved off jail duty and into the sheriff’s office, he doesn’t expect his first assignment to be protecting a witness against a human trafficking ring. Knowing the new sheriff doesn’t abide screwups, Chris reluctantly agrees to work the case.

Pavle Kasun has spent the last four years of his life at the mercy of others. When an opportunity presented itself, he took it, resulting in his rescue. Now the safe houses he’s placed in are being threatened and he needs protection if he is to have any sort of chance at a life.

Chris opens his home to Pavle, but he doesn’t expect Pavle and his story to get under his skin… and stay there. Soon they discover they have more in common than either of them thought. Slowly Pavle comes out of his shell and Chris finds someone who touches his heart. But as the men looking for Pavle close in, they will stop at nothing to get him out of the way. But even if Chris can keep him safe, he might not be able to protect his heart if Pavle moves back home.

I love this series and all the guys we’ve met so far.

I don’t think anyone will top Donald, Carter and little Alex for me, but Pavle and Chris are a very close second…. In this one, we get Chris’ POV, which I’m grateful for, because I don’t think I could’ve handled all of the things that Pavle had gone through, being brought to America four years ago and sold into sex slavery….which is a very real thing in our country and I can’t believe it isn’t talked about more. While it’s true that women and children are more likely to be victims, boys and men aren’t safe either… as is proof with Pavle.

When Pavle gets a note to his neighbors, he’s finally freed from captivity, and Chris is selected to keep an eye on him since someone is out to make sure he can’t testify. There’s a bit of a language barrier there, but Pavle’s English isn’t terrible. He’s picked up a bit being held in America, though originally from Serbia. He’s very untrusting at first, with very good reason, but the more Chris shows him that he’s safe, and gives him choices that he’s never had, he slowly starts trusting and opening up to Chris.

There are so many amazing people that help too; Chris’ Nanna, who also came from Serbia, once upon a time… the social worker, Marie, Briggs, who works with Chris, the Reverend and his wife and son, Red and Terry make a few appearances, and just everyone who fell in love with Pavle when meeting him. It was so easy to do. I loved loved loved watching him get comfortable and learn how to live happily. Sighhhhhhh, loved it.

Of course, being that these hot cops were there to look after Pavle, the threat is still very much out there. We don’t find out the why’s or really the who’s, but just know that justice is served with them and they get what’s coming to them. I love karmic justice and though I feel like they got off easy, I try to tell myself they’re fictional people and wishing them a slow and painful death, doesn’t reflect on me as a person LOL…. Okay, maybe it does, but I’m okay with it.

Through slowly gaining Pavle’s trust and watching him come into his own, Chris falls in love with him… cuz, of course he does, and though he’s wary about Pavle’s feelings for him are coming from the wrong place…. They aren’t, and Pavle falls in love with him too. It’s a rocky road for sure, but they get there in the end. Together.

What an awesome addition to an already awesome series. I can’t wait to see who’s next!

Alaska (Sawyer’s Ferry Book 1) by Cate Ashwood: Quick Review

November 5, 2018 by Denise

Nobody says no to a Prescott.

Not even one of their own.

Holden:
Living up to expectations had never been easy, but when I went after something, I got it. Success. Money. Victory. I was standing on the doorstep to having it all. There was only one thing standing in my way.

Gage:
Power and prosperity are overrated. Especially when they come at a price. When enough became enough, I walked away. Nothing had ever tempted me to look back, until one day the past showed up in my back yard.

I’m not so sure I can walk away a second time.

I have to admit, I was a little bit adamant in the beginning, after reading how Holden’s dad treated him.
I could literally write an entire monologue about how awful this man is, but in no way would I do him justice… He’s that terrible and you will hate him. Be prepared for that.

Holden Prescott is a skilled surgeon with his own department and lab to study chemical trials and everything he thinks he’s ever wanted. Only problem is, his dad – the older, other Dr. Prescott is holding his strings because he was financially helpful making sure Holden got to where he is thus far….
So, when the older Dr. Prescott wants the partner he sold out to come back and work for him, he does what he does best and threatens to take everything Holden has unless he brings him back to New York to work.
Sending him to Sawyer’s Ferry, Alaska is his only shot to get Gage to come back and if he doesn’t, his whole life is ruined. No job, no money, no home, nothing…. Yep, that’s how evil his father is. Did I mention how badly I hated him?

Gage was happy to leave New York two years ago when his mentor and partner got money hungry and sold out…
Finding a home in the tiny town of Sawyer’s Ferry, he liked the small community and having his best friend close… even if the two of them were 2 of the only few surgeons at the small hospital they ran. So, imagine his surprise when the younger, gorgeous Prescott shows up unannounced because he’d ignored the older Dr’s attempts to contact him.

It’s a little rocky at first, what with Holden having everything riding on him getting Gage to come back and Gage not wanting anything to do with anything that has to do with either Dr. Prescott’s or their business.
What neither man was expecting was their instant attraction to one another and the way they made each other feel.
Their chemistry was immediate, and I loved it. No matter how hard the both of them knew it couldn’t be anything, except maybe a night or two of fun… it was fun to watch them go back and forth, learning about each other and going from enemies to bone buddies, to friends, to in a relationship, to being in love.

Gage is sweeter than I expected him to be, and Holden is charming and nothing like his father. They were perfect for each other, and I loved their back and forth as well as their steamy times…. which were indeed, really hot.
When an emergency situation has Holden staying in town longer than he planned, he not only falls in love with the temporary job and the charming little town…. but he falls in love with Gage too… And it…. is…. SWEET!

I kind of figured that Holden’s dad was up to something, after being so desperate to get Gage back after he’d bought him out two years previous… but it was a little twist when we got to why.
I liked that Holden got closure and a tiny little piece of karmic justice… but I’m petty in a way that I wish he’d have done more damage, and his father would’ve gotten it rubbed in his face that not only did he land on his feet, but that he was actually happy, doing well and WITH Gage. That would’ve been fun to see…
And then if he could’ve just beat him up or something equally as painful…. that would’ve been nice to see too…
But, ya know… it was more realistic the author’s way, I reckon LOL Not everyone is all about Angry Vengence Life, like me haha

I also loved the secondary characters, both Frankie who Holden’s best friend and Logan who was Gage’s….
I loved the townspeople and the guys’ co-workers.

And I loved, loved, loved the ending! I cannot wait to see more of these two and I really hope something great happens with Logan and Frankie…. even if it’s not together.
This was an excellent start to what I hope will be an even sweeter series.

Whit by Cora RoseNew release and review!Whit by Cora Rose was my first book by her and I believe her first book. And I was really impressed. It's not easy to find a first book that I don't nit pick. But I really enjoyed it and she has been quite the prolific writer since.Caleb is the same story told from Whit's point of view. (Whit was Caleb's point of view)This is a good young adult (21ish) romance, opposites attract, gay for you, rich boy/poor boy...all the tropes. It was fun to read the story from Whit's POV. How he was really feeling about Caleb, about meeting family, about dealing with his own family, etc. And to hear how dirty his mind really was since he's so buttoned up (figuratively) to the world.I loved seeing Caleb's family just immediately accept him as part of the family. Jokes, hugs and all.If you enjoyed Whit, you'll enjoy Caleb. Same story, different perspectives.Do I need all of her books to have this companion piece? Nah. But I'm glad I revisited these guys.4 Pieces of Eye Candy ... See MoreSee Less

✨EXCERPT: CALEB by @coraroseauthor releasing April 24th! #PreOrderNowbooks2read.com/u/4En91A I shake my head, even though it is. I feel like my heart is being ripped from my body. The choice I have to make. Is it even a choice? “I…I overreacted. I’m…I’ll be fine,” I tell him, clutching at his hand and turning it to kiss that rough palm. Because I have to be fine with whatever I choose. And I don’t know if I can choose a future with him. Not after everything I’ve been through. My parents owe me for what they put me through. I’ve earned it with my blood and tears. Can I give it all up? For him? Caleb’s thumbs rub over my cheeks. “Okay.” He doesn’t sound convinced. Not that I expect him to. I’m a liar in the worst way. Selfish, thoughtless. He will never forgive me once this is over. My eyes water, and Caleb’s face crumples as he pulls me into his chest and holds me. I should never have let him be my roommate. I should have let him go about his life, never knowing me. It would have been simpler, better. But I was too greedy. Wanted him too much. And now look what I’ve done. I’m set to ruin him. I need to pull away before I do more damage. I need to end this. Soon, I tell myself. Just one more day. Let me have one more day.#mmromance #corarose The Author Agency ... See MoreSee Less
