Amalgamated by Becca Seymour: Blog Tour, Excerpt, New Release Review *2, Giveaway

October 1, 2019 by Denise

After five years of living in the UK, it’s time for Leo to return home to his dad’s stud farm in outback Australia. He has no idea what to expect when he arrives. He didn’t exactly leave with balloons and banners.

Nope. His farewell involved destruction and his own heart split in two.

He knows seeing the man who’s always held his heart, Zak, is going to be awkward. The older farm manager made his feelings pretty damn clear when Leo hightailed it out of there.

Leo quickly figures out life is going to get complicated and a whole heap more exciting as his trip home becomes so much more.

Amalgamated is a fun and steamy M/M short story in Becca Seymour’s Coming Home series. Stand-alone romances complete with heat, wit, and happily ever afters.

Escape with Leo and Zak in outback Australia as they discover it sometimes takes time, distance, and interfering family to amalgamate.

Realigned (Coming Home #1) – FREE READ

“Promise you won’t be mad.”

Groaning, I shook my head. Any request starting that way was going to result in me being pissed off. “What did you do?”

This time her glance my way had me tensing. Concern flickered in her eyes. When she focused on the road ahead, she blew out her cheeks, her lips pursed. “We’re heading to mine.”

“Okay?” I dragged out the word. I’d figured that out since we weren’t heading towards Dad and Michelle’s.

“Dad kinda got excited about you coming home.”

My stomach dipped. I just knew where she was heading with this. Slamming my eyes shut, I waited for her next words.

They came out in a rush. “Sohekindainvitedaheapofpeopleover. But…” She gasped for breath. “…it’s not technically a party, as there aren’t banners or balloons.”

My eyes sprang open, and I stared at her wide-eyed.

She glanced at me, a mix of horror and amusement on her face. “You owe me big for talking him out of that.”

“Yet you couldn’t have talked him into a small family meal?”

She shrugged. “I did try, but, Leo.” She paused, emotion swirling in her eyes, and I swallowed. This was just one of the reasons I’d stayed away. Guilt still clawed at me whenever I gave it life. “Dad was so excited you were coming home. You know he still doesn’t understand why you left. If it had just been heading to the city, that would have been a struggle, but you travelled to the other side of the world.”

My gut clenched. I still felt shit for leaving my dad, but I had my own life to live, and taking over my dad’s stud farm wasn’t what I wanted. Plus there was the major screw-up with how I destroyed any semblance of a friendship with Zak.

“There’s more.”

I flashed Jen a resigned look.

“Dad obviously invited Zak.”

My heart seized, and my gut churned. This could not be happening. While I’d anticipated seeing him, I wasn’t prepared for it to be the first night I got home. In hindsight, this was ridiculously naïve of me, considering his place was only a hundred metres or so away from the main house on the property.

“I know, I know, but best to get the whole awkwardness out of the way, right?” She reached out and gave my hand a small squeeze. After I’d run out on Zak the night I’d left, it had taken just a handful of calls from Jen for her to recognize something was wrong and for me to spill my guts. We remained close, even with the distance of the past five years, and without her in my corner, life certainly would have been trickier.

“Yeah, I suppose.” There was something to be said for ripping the Band-Aid off, but my gut clenched in anticipation.

Unrequited love is the absolute worst. I can remember being fourteen and the new boy came to school and being the first person to see him, because I’d gotten sent out into the hallway for disrupting class. I was a talker that talked back when I called on it. It was sixth grade, what do you want from me?

Anyway… everyone had a crush on him, but he became my twin brothers best friend, which sparked the crush to end all crushes, I still act like a fan girl when he comes around and I’m pushin 35…. I’m not proud of it, but come on!

Anyway, much like Leo, I acted out my jealousy and if running away had been an option, I would’ve probably done that too. So, I can relate. When Leo told the man he’d grown up with that he had feelings for him, being rebuffed had him acting out in a big way before leaving home for the next five years and licking his wounds. Now, going back for a two week holiday, he plans to apologize for how he left things and hopefully make amends.

Zak has other plans though, not letting Leo take all the blame, sure he kind of overreacted just before he left by throwing a major hissy fit, but, Zak understood. He knew how Leo felt and for how long he’d felt it. But, being near on a decade older than Leo, I can understand his hesitation, not to mention how close Zak is to the family. It wasn’t something he could’ve just jumped into with a then 17-year-old Leo.

Fortunately, enough time has passed and Leo is home, so Zak goes about setting things right too. Because even though it wasn’t the right time way back when, Zak cared a lot about Leo and his feelings have only grown since he’s been away.

Ah, if only every unrequited story could end like that…not so unrequited after all.

I enjoyed reading about these two and it was sweet seeing them work everything out, especially because Leo’s family, namely his dad wanted him back home so bad. If you like second chancers, cute accents and quiet cowboys, you’ll adore this one.

4 Pieces of Eye Candy

Cute, quick read set in the Australian Outback.

I am not the biggest fan of shorts, but sometimes you want a quick read. This will fit the bill.

Leo goes home for the first time in five years and has to face his first crush, Zak. When his unrequited love is not returned, he destroys Zak’s most prized possession. So he also is returning home with his proverbial tail between his legs.

And even though the book was short, they still took the time to explain and talk and realize what was going on. THEN things got hot an heavy.

So if you have an hour to kill and don’t want to read anything heavy, this is for you.

Becca Seymour lives and breathes all things book related. Usually with at least three books being read and two WiPs being written at the same time, life is merrily hectic. She tends to do nothing by halves so happily seeks the craziness and busyness life offers.

Living on her small property in Queensland with her human family as well as her animal family of cows, chooks, and dogs, Becca appreciates the beauty of the world around her and is a believer that love truly is love.

The Rising (Badlands #2) by Morgan Brice: Audiobook Tour

October 1, 2019 by Denise

Vic and Simon race to stop the murders against an unholy deadline, but as they battle rising tides and risen ghosts, can they save the intended victims without getting trapped themselves?

A big storm is brewing, there’s a killer on the loose, and the ghosts of Myrtle Beach are restless. Psychic medium Simon Kincaide and his sexy cop boyfriend, homicide detective Vic D’Amato have their hands full helping the Grand Strand brace for rough surf, driving rain, and high winds as a winter storm roars toward shore.

Everyone’s on edge, and rumors are rampant about sightings of Blackcoat Benny, a ghostly omen of danger, and worse, the Gallows Nine, the spirits of nine infamous criminals hanged back in the 1700s, a harbinger of disaster. Rough tides wash the wreck of an old pirate ship into shallow waters, high winds threaten to damage an old mansion with a dark past, and the citizens of the beach town hunker down to ride out the storm.

As the skies grow dark and the sea turns wild, several men from prominent local families end up dead under suspicious circumstances. Simon’s premonition confirms Vic’s gut feeling—the killing is just getting started. As Simon tries to reach out to the spirits of the murdered men to help the investigation, he’s attacked by malicious ghosts that don’t want anyone getting in the way of their long-overdue vengeance.

With the storm hammering the coast, and new victims piling up, Simon is certain that the sins and secrets of the past are coming due, and that the murders have a supernatural link. Vic and Simon race to stop the murders against an unholy deadline, but as they battle rising tides and risen ghosts, can they save the intended victims without getting trapped themselves?

The Rising is the second novel in the Badlands series. It is a MM romance intended for readers 18 years of age and older. The story contains mentions of suicide (not the main characters).

This series has really captured my interest and kept me intrigued. The supernatural “woowoo” that Simon has he lets people know about, he isn’t in the closet, so to speak, about it. And although Vic in most of book 1 was skeptical, and in book 2 was essentially in awe of Simon’s gift, he has come to appreciate all that the gift has, and brings to the investigations they have worked on together.

We got to see a bit more of Vic’s POV in this book, and I liked that his protective side was as much in his head, as it was in what he did to try to save Simon from things he couldn’t control.

Getting to “meet” Simon’s kin was surprising but worked so well into the plot, that it didn’t feel contrived. It was allowed to flow with the story and didn’t overtake it all.

And once again, I was not able to figure out the who-dun-it, for sure. That’s the best part of reading a book like this for me.

I have only listened to Kale Williams on this series, and he has done a masterful job of separating characters by voice, inflections, accents, and even the feel of their presence. I’ve really enjoyed his narration.

The Twelfth Knight (Guardians of Camelot #1) by Victoria Sue: Exclusive Excerpt, Release Day Review and Giveaway

October 1, 2019 by Denise

To battle an ancient evil, the greatest weapon each hero will have is each other.

Hundreds of years ago, facing defeat, the witch Morgana sent monsters into the future to vanquish a humanity King Arthur wouldn’t be able to save. The King might have won the battle, but now, centuries later, a few chosen men will have to fight the war.

Merlin always hated being named after some mythological wizard. His dad had been obsessed with the magic man of King Arthur’s Court before his untimely death – a loss that had sent Mel reeling in a downward spiral. He is ill-prepared, to say the least, for the outrageous claims of a proper English knight bent on overcoming evil.

Born a commoner, Lancelot was never supposed to be a knight in his own time, never mind now in a modern world he is so woefully untrained to protect. Thrown into a battle centuries in the making, this flawed hero, and a young man too-used to battling monsters of the present day, will have to come together in a last desperate fight to save humanity.

Can Mel and Lance defeat the greatest enemy the world has ever known? Or in the midst of fighting evil, will they discover the real threat has always been a shattered heart?

And what if the one fight they cannot ever hope to win is with themselves?

Amazon – Kindle Unlimited

What the fuck am I doing?

Mel leaned his back on the door as it clicked shut with finality. Okay, so if he’d just let a serial rapist or murderer into his apartment, he’d be really annoyed. The being dead part would take care of that though, he supposed, and he tried not to roll his eyes. The fact that the guy was insanely hot hadn’t escaped his notice either, although with Mel’s track record that probably meant he was best buds with Ted Bundy.

Liar. Although the shitty record with men was right but not, he thought, the question over Lance’s integrity. There had been something inherently right about the man which drew Mel in like a moth to a flame. Unresolved hero issues. As in he was still dreaming some crusader—caped or otherwise—was going to rescue him. All it probably went to prove was that he was a bad judge of character. Mel rubbed his eyes with resignation. It had been a crappy day on top of a crappy week. The funeral where he had been one of only three people there, and the pathetic small bag which was what all the home had given him belonging to his gran. And then tonight it had nearly been his own.

The small window Lance wandered over to gave a clear view of the street and his SUV, so he would know Mel had been watching him. Lance turned and studied him, equally silent. Mel flushed a little at his calm, unhurried gaze. His eyes traveled from his cheap sneakers up his too-skinny, too-short legs.

Mel wanted to fidget. He really should move, say something—say anything—but the gray eyes that had studied him so closely had now arrived at his face. Pinned him still. He’d always wondered where the stupid saying about deer and headlights came from. Now he knew, because he felt like he was about to get run over by a truck.

In the alley he’d felt the same, although maybe that had been simply relief at being saved. Because obviously “not dying” was a big thing. Whatever hero complex Lance had going on, it seemed to be working for him anyway. He supposed offering a cup of tea was the least he could do, and for a second he regretted Lance turning down the blow job.

“Don’t like tea?” Lance had put the cup untouched on the kitchen counter. Mel wanted to kick himself at the random question and followed Lance’s gaze. Mel looked critically around the small space and not for the first time acknowledged it was crap. He didn’t see any cockroaches though. There’d been three when he woke up this afternoon. So, there was that. Mel studied Lance for a brief moment as he stood at the window near the kitchenette. Although kitchenette was a very optimistic word for the white piece of laminated something he’d found outside by the dumpsters that he currently had balanced on a few pallets. It had nearly killed him to get up the four flights of stairs, but the sink worked okay, so he couldn’t complain. The electricity did too whenever he had cash for the meter. The plumbing was often questionable, but not a health hazard.

Lance was looking around the small space as well. Maybe that was why he wasn’t drinking the tea. Maybe he was frightened he’d catch something.

“So why are you here?” Mel asked after another ten seconds’ scrutiny.

Lance stared at him. “We need to talk.”

If it had been remotely funny, Mel would have laughed. Five minutes in his apartment and he was breaking up with him already? “Tell me why you go around fighting monsters in alleyways?”

Lance tilted his lips upward in a small smile. “I don’t just fight them in alleyways.”

Mel sighed and rubbed his forehead. He could feel the headache starting behind his eyes. “I mean—”

“I know what you mean.”

“Can we just get this over with? I’m sure no explanation could be worse than me thinking I’m actually certifiable.”

“It’s a long story.”

“One you don’t want to tell or one you’re about to invent?”

Lance scowled. “I do not tell untruths.”

Mel lifted his brows like sure. “Thief?” And what was with the weird speech? Untruths?

Mel clicked his fingers. Of course. “You’re a Brit, huh?” Made sense. He spoke like that royal. Although he preferred the younger one, and it was a damn shame he’d gotten married. Every fantasy he had ever needed to keep him warm generally involved a prince.

“I was born in England,” Lance acknowledged. “Lived there for a while.”

“You must have lived there quite a while because you don’t have much of an American accent.”

“You don’t have much of a New York one,” Lance countered.

Mel shrugged, unwilling to give anything away. “I’ve traveled.” To avoid the cops, children’s services, landlords, pimps. You name it, Mom had run from it. “You were explaining,” he prodded.

“Look, this is going to sound really strange—”

“Stranger than being attacked by eight-foot zombies straight out of The Walking Dead?” Mel waved a hand when all he got was a blank look at that reference.

Lance took a deep breath. “Have you heard of Merlin?”

“As in…”

“As in the wizard.”

Mel groaned. “Really? This shit, again? What part of me telling you my father was a history teacher didn’t you get? I have no idea why he gave me such a stupid-ass name.” And he’s been dead for a really long time.

“What if I told you it was all real?”

Mel pushed away from the door, irritation winning over his curiosity and tired of whatever BS he was about to get fed. “I changed my mind, and I think you need to go.”

Lance’s eyebrows rose. “I—”

“Get out,” Mel interrupted. “I don’t know what you are doing, and frankly I don’t give a fuck. I don’t care why or what you were doing in that alley, because I won’t see you again, so—”

Lance’s cell phone rang. He fished it out of his coat quickly and answered it. A look of dread passed over his features, which silenced Mel.

“Understood. Call the others.” Lance pushed the phone back in his pocket and focused on him. “You have five minutes to pack anything you can’t live without.”

Alarm clutched Mel like talons. “What?”

He took a step closer. “I haven’t time to explain. That thing that attacked you in the alley? There’s more of them on their way.”

“B-but—” He looked wildly around his apartment. Impossible. “Five minutes?”

“I mean it. Any longer and you won’t be alive to worry about what you’ve left behind.”

Oh my gosh! I truly don’t know what to say about this start to a new series from Victoria Sue. So much!

First, I loved this era in history. So, when I read the title and series name, I didn’t even read the blurb, I just said “give it to me now please”, and then waited patiently. I was the model of patience, I promise. 😉 This is such a mystical time in history, and the reader gets to glimpse pieces of it in this book. The author did a lot of research on little things here and there to include, and it was much appreciated.

This book had a similar feel to the Enhanced Series by Victoria Sue, in that there were specific things each person had or could do that was unique to them during this time in their lives. I loved that one of the characters didn’t even know until he had been alive for hundreds of years.

Second, it surprised me, which doesn’t happen often anymore as I am reading. It was set in current era, rather than back in historical times, which I wasn’t expecting. Even though, the author ensured that explanations were made for little things like cameras possibly seeing the knights, cell phones, etc.

It also contained a lot of humorous little bits. I loved Mel for his humor, and the knights as well. Made for some fantastic little hits in what could have been very heavy scenes.

I don’t want to give any more away, because honestly I hope you read it and enjoy it as much as I did. I can’t wait for Book 2. I mean, I will be the same model of patience I was for this one, of course.

Not Another Statistic by J.M. Dabney: RDB, Excerpt and New Release Review

September 26, 2019 by Denise

Former Federal Agent Yuri Sorenson had left the bureau behind to become a private investigator. His ex-partner came to him asking for a favor, not knowing who else to trust. Yuri had always had a way of keeping his emotional distance from the people he protected, yet that changed the day Clarkson hesitantly limped into his life.

What happens when love is confused with pain? That’s the exact question Josh Clarkson had asked himself for years. He’d grown up in an overburdened foster care system, and from what he knew of love, he couldn’t expect anything but to be something tolerated. Was he meant to be more than a plaything or a piece of scenery? He could hope.

Two men who know nothing but being broken find that patience and acceptance are harder than losing hope. Is the leap of faith worth the reward of letting someone else in? Maybe they’ll find the strength to find out before the danger of Josh’s past tries to tear them apart.

I awakened from the best dreams I’d ever had. One of the few times I hadn’t come to with a scream and then I froze as I found myself draped over Yuri. My thighs on either side of his hips and I tried to slip to the side without being noticed only to squeak as a very strong, large hand squeezed my ass to keep me in place. This was so not good. I bit my lip and tried again only to be stopped by a deep growl that rumbled the chest under me.

All I remembered last night was falling asleep as far on the other side of the bed as I could get. I’d never really shared a bed with someone before. Usually when the man I was with went to sleep, I left or found a couch or a portion of the floor to curl up on. At Vernon’s I had my own tiny room which he locked me in every night.

This was the first time I’d ever cuddled with a man and I wasn’t sure it was a welcomed act. I needed to get away before he woke up. His opinion was important and I didn’t want him to think that I’d done this on purpose. I planted my hands beside his ribs, and then lifted onto my toes.

I was able to get an inch between our bodies before my hips were slammed back down onto a very impressive bulge.

“Shit.” I whispered and started the attempt again.

“Baby boy, what do you think you’re doing?”

His gruff question had me lifting my gaze to his and realized he was very much awake. “How long have you been awake?”

“Maybe an hour or so.”

“Sorry, I didn’t realize—” My apology ended when I noticed the corner of his mouth pulled into a smirk. It made the laugh lines at the corners of his eyes deeper.

“Sleeping you didn’t seem to mind rubbing on me.”

I surged to a seated position and stared down at him. “I was sleeping. I could’ve done anything.” His smile got wider. “What else did I do?”

“Nothing, but we have shit to do today so get on up.”

He smacked my ass and rolled out from under me, dumping me onto the bed. I hurriedly crawled off  and followed him. I was too shocked by the grin and the suddenly playful attitude to protest the swat.

“What did I do,” I demanded.

“You get pretty affectionate, now, are you going to watch me piss and demand to know every grope you didn’t get to enjoy?”

I’ve been on such a suspense kick lately and this one was one hit after another, it had me on my toes. So, as the title suggests, we have Yuri, an almost retired cop turned PI who’s running out of funds and needs to figure out what he’s going to be doing…. all that, when his ex-partner West drops by with an unsuspecting case in the form of a broken down and badly abused man, Josh.

Josh has been used and abused for what seems like his whole life so when a
Senator’s son keeps him locked away for his sick enjoyment, he’s only too happy to get away by chance and has to go into hiding until the trial to put the twisted, evil man away. Unfortunately, like anyone with a little bit of power, he controls the very people designed to help keep him safe, so he doesn’t know who to trust. That’s where West comes in and takes him to Yuri.

Yuri doesn’t trust West and to be honest, I don’t either, even still at the end. What he said and his little “joke” to Josh, it didn’t feel like a joke to me and I hate that Yuri even a little bit trusted him. A “joke” like the one he made was awful, especially given Josh’s history. Had I been Josh, I’d have maybe taken a shot at his knee caps or his jaw bone or something….

So, while Yuri hated his job at first, he couldn’t help but fall for the younger, tortured man, even when he was trying to do what’s best for him. I loved how Josh came into his own the more he felt safe with Yuri, it wasn’t hard to fall for him. I also liked how Josh wanted to do what he could to help Yuri too, it wasn’t one-sided, even though Josh needed a little bit extra for the time being. I loved the people Josh had on his side, too. Arianna especially, she reminded me a lot of Peaches.

I cannot wait to see what happens with Kluge…doesn’t he just seem perfect? I really hope we see more from him and maybe West, if he’s gonna be around for a while, he can redeem himself and at least apologize for the horrible way he treated Josh.

Either way, I was happy to see that all is well that ended well, I kind of wished for a more karmic justice for the Senator and his son, but, there’s always next time, eh? I don’t think it’s the last we’ll be seeing or hearing from those two. I’m very much looking forward to what’s next.

Great start to what I know will be an awesome new series!

Pete is happy, albeit a bit lonely, after divorcing his wife of twenty years and isn’t looking to replace her. But when Oren shows up, all grateful and handsome and in that fancy suit, the longing for the deep connection of a relationship flares up inside him.

As the leaves turn yellow, Oren and Pete spend a lot of time in honest conversations. Their attraction grows. Will the two men recognize the promise of new beginnings, and take the chance to find the happiness they both deserve?

Amazon

Very sweet read. The two characters in this one, Oren and Pete are two middle-aged men who have lived a lifetime already. Oren has spent his life traveling for work, though I’m not a hundred percent sure what it is he does, something to do with the internet lol but, it doesn’t matter. His company is constantly sending here and there so he’s never had the time to settle down and start a family, which is okay because he’s got an amazingly sweet and supportive mom, who happens to have taken a fall and broken her leg at 75, which is why he comes home and goes to check on her. When he finds out this it’s her neighbor, Pete, who heard her crying out for help, he of course, has to go and thank him.

Pete married his college sweetheart and had two kids that they raised to adulthood before he realized that even though he loves her, he wasn’t in love with her anymore. Same with her, they just kind of fell out of love, but stayed best friends. She’s very supportive and encouraging when the neighbors son comes over to thank him for helping his mother when he was out of town, and develops a little crush.

They get along well, but Oren thinks Pete’s married, and why wouldn’t he? The man has pictures of his family together and sees the ex-wife at Pete’s, so it was an honest mistake to make.
When Pete makes it clear that he’s not married and interested, he asks Oren on a date.

It’s all just very cute. Their date is cute and both men know what they want and don’t waste time getting it. No games, no pettiess, no mixed messages or drama. They like each other, they date and then we end on five years later with some wonderful news and the combining of families.

Short and sweet and very worth the read

Science & Jockstraps (Ace’s Wild Book 1) by Riley Hart & Christina Lee: Release Day Review

September 24, 2019 by Denise

Shy science guy Liam and fun-loving jock Isaiah have been roommates since their freshman year in college. On the surface, they couldn’t be more different. What the rest of the world doesn’t know is that tucked between basketball, classes, and hanging with friends are some of Isaiah’s favorite moments—just Liam and Isaiah in their room, watching documentaries or goofing off. Liam certainly never imagined Isaiah would become one of his favorite people, but their friendship was pretty much solidified the first time Isaiah saved Liam from a killer spider.

When Isaiah discovers Liam is looking for a hookup to help him explore a secret kink, the idea of anyone touching Liam that way sparks a protective instinct Isaiah has never felt before. Then, Isaiah confesses that he’d like to be the one Liam experiments with, and Liam is completely bowled over—equal parts thrilled and wary of ruining their friendship.

From the first sting of Isaiah’s palm, Liam’s fantasy finally comes to life. The more they explore together, the closer they become, uncovering feelings neither were willing to admit before. But outside the haven of their room, reality isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Isaiah isn’t out, and worries about his college basketball career. And Liam won’t be someone’s secret, not after he promised himself he’d stop hiding and being afraid.

Deciding how to navigate the world together will be the final exam they’ll need to ace.

***PLEASE NOTE: For the first 90 days of this title’s publication, all sales and page reads will be donated to The LGBT Community Center of Cleveland and The LGBT Center of Raleigh.

**Science and Jockstraps is part of a multi-author series of books that take place in the same fictional town. Each story can be read in any order. The connecting element in the Ace’s Wild series is an adult store owned by Ace and Wilder. The main characters from each book will make at least one visit to Ace’s Wild, where they’ll buy a toy to use in their story! The only characters who crossover to each book are Ace and Wilder. And with various heat levels, there’s sure to be something for everyone!

Amazon – Kindle Unlimited

Fun, fun, fun!

I love a series that is loosely connected and by different authors. Think Bluewater Bay or Tucker Springs. And now we have Ace’s Wild, a new series connected by an adult store owned by Ace and Wilder. And there are a ton of authors. No one is writing more than one book and they are being released quickly. I want to say every two weeks? Anyway, this is book 1 by two of my favorites- Christina Lee and Riley Hart. They have co-authored before and I have always enjoyed the books.

Oh! And the first 90 days of sales and page turns (Kindle Unlimited) go to charity! How is THAT for awesome?

Now to the book!

Isaiah and Liam are pretty much polar opposites, but being roommates in college for over a year now, they have become good friends. Until Isaiah snoops- by accident- and sees that Liam has a kink he’d like to explore. And the more Isaiah thinks about it, the more he wants to be the guy he explores with.

We watch as they navigate this new kink…and new feelings. And the fact that Isaiah isn’t out as bisexual.

There could have been a lot of angst, but it was light instead. Being a shorter book, they guys had to work through the conflict quicker. That being said, it wasn’t rushed at all. The story flowed with the relationship without the awkward “Three months later” starts of chapters.

Both Liam and Isaiah are lovable guys. It was totally adorable how Isaiah did a bunch of research so that he would do it correctly and not hurt Liam. He was pretty swoony to be honest.

We also got our first taste of Ace and Wilder- the couple that ties all of the books together. They are going to be a funny couple.

So yes, read it. College age, unintended romance, funny, a little kinky. It is well written and the change between authors is so seamless you cannot decipher who wrote what.

Whit by Cora RoseNew release and review!Whit by Cora Rose was my first book by her and I believe her first book. And I was really impressed. It's not easy to find a first book that I don't nit pick. But I really enjoyed it and she has been quite the prolific writer since.Caleb is the same story told from Whit's point of view. (Whit was Caleb's point of view)This is a good young adult (21ish) romance, opposites attract, gay for you, rich boy/poor boy...all the tropes. It was fun to read the story from Whit's POV. How he was really feeling about Caleb, about meeting family, about dealing with his own family, etc. And to hear how dirty his mind really was since he's so buttoned up (figuratively) to the world.I loved seeing Caleb's family just immediately accept him as part of the family. Jokes, hugs and all.If you enjoyed Whit, you'll enjoy Caleb. Same story, different perspectives.Do I need all of her books to have this companion piece? Nah. But I'm glad I revisited these guys.4 Pieces of Eye Candy ... See MoreSee Less

✨EXCERPT: CALEB by @coraroseauthor releasing April 24th! #PreOrderNowbooks2read.com/u/4En91A I shake my head, even though it is. I feel like my heart is being ripped from my body. The choice I have to make. Is it even a choice? “I…I overreacted. I’m…I’ll be fine,” I tell him, clutching at his hand and turning it to kiss that rough palm. Because I have to be fine with whatever I choose. And I don’t know if I can choose a future with him. Not after everything I’ve been through. My parents owe me for what they put me through. I’ve earned it with my blood and tears. Can I give it all up? For him? Caleb’s thumbs rub over my cheeks. “Okay.” He doesn’t sound convinced. Not that I expect him to. I’m a liar in the worst way. Selfish, thoughtless. He will never forgive me once this is over. My eyes water, and Caleb’s face crumples as he pulls me into his chest and holds me. I should never have let him be my roommate. I should have let him go about his life, never knowing me. It would have been simpler, better. But I was too greedy. Wanted him too much. And now look what I’ve done. I’m set to ruin him. I need to pull away before I do more damage. I need to end this. Soon, I tell myself. Just one more day. Let me have one more day.#mmromance #corarose The Author Agency ... See MoreSee Less

So, of course I tripped over my tongue instead of asking for his number. And despite my friends’ numerous offers to help find him online, we’re too busy opening Lick It!, our new ice cream shop, to spare time for my non-existent love life. But when Jonathan walks through the door on a sunny Friday afternoon, I can’t help but feel like it’s fate. He’s shy, sweet, and we immediately click. Jonathan doesn’t have much experience with relationships, so I’m determined to give him the attention he deserves, even if it means I’m pulled in two directions. With summer heating up and the shop getting hectic, spending time together is getting harder and harder. I don’t know how to balance the long hours and being a good boyfriend, but I know I have to figure it out. Because meeting Jonathan is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. ✨INFLUENCERS: Sign up to review this awesome release: bit.ly/lickedsignup#charlienovak #mmromance #kindleunlimited The Author Agency ...
