I promised Ma that I wouldn’t drink my dinner every night, but some days, it’s impossible to keep that promise. I tell myself that it’s different on days like today because I’m not drinking to forget how much I miss Jill, I’m drinking to forget how miserable some people choose to make one another. Today, I just about lost it and told one couple that there’s no point in them even trying to get along. Unfortunately, my partner frowns upon me telling couples that sometimes two people just aren’t meant to be together, as was this case with this pair.
It takes a minute for my eyes to adjust to the dark atmosphere of Brewster’s after walking around for thirty minutes trying to tell myself I didn’t need a drink. I find an empty seat at the end of the bar and signal the bartender for my usual. Okay, so maybe Ma had a point since he simply nods and has a tall whiskey sour sitting in front of me in less than a minute.
I look around, the same way I do every night, wondering if this town will ever start to feel like home. It’s a nice enough place, but there’s a definite divide between those who are from here and those who move here at some point in their lives.
I sit a bit straighter when I see Scott, the quiet, broody guy from group, sitting at one of the high top tables in the center of the room. He looks absolutely miserable. When I catch a glimpse of his date for the evening, Adrian the annoying twink who thinks he’s God’s gift to all gay men in town, the annoyance radiating off Scott is understandable.
I nurse the first drink, rather than down it as quickly as possible. I’ve wanted to talk to Scott the past few weeks, but he’s ducked out as soon as the official meeting ends, even though Jim hangs around for a while. I’ve considered following him when he leaves, to see if I can talk to him, but then I tell myself that he must have his reasons for not wanting to deal with people and I have to respect that.
I feel like a creep, watching Adrian and Scott eating dinner, but I can’t help it. A few times, I’ve thought Scott was checking me out the same way I have been him and this is the first confirmation I have that I might be right. Scott excuses himself from the table and Adrian reaches out for him as he walks away. I laugh when Scott practically jumps back to keep from being part of an awkward and unwelcome embrace.
Once he’s in the restroom, I order another drink before putting a five-dollar bill in the jukebox. I don’t give a shit about the music, but it’s the closest I can get to Scott without following him into the bathroom, which is a level of creepy that I can’t imagine stooping to.

Sloan Johnson is a big city girl trapped in a country girl’s life. While she longs for the hustle and bustle of New York City or Las Vegas, she hasn’t yet figured out how to sit on the deck with her morning coffee, watching the deer and wild turkeys in the fields while surrounded by concrete and glass.
When she was three, her parents received their first call from the principal asking them to pick her up from school. Apparently, if you aren’t enrolled, you can’t attend classes, even in Kindergarten. The next week, she was in preschool and started plotting her first story soon after.
Later in life, her parents needed to do something to help their socially awkward, uncoordinated child come out of her shell and figured there was no better place than a bar on Wednesday nights. It’s a good thing they did because this is where she found her love of reading and writing. Who needs socialization when you can sit alone in your bedroom with a good book?
Now, Sloan is a tattooed mom with a mohawk and two kids. She’s been kicked out of the PTA in two school districts and is no longer asked to help with fundraisers because she’s been known to lose herself with a good book and forget she has somewhere to be.

Blog Tour Stop, Giveaway and R Rated Excerpt: The Protector (Book Three in the Sizzling Miami Series) by Jessie G

February 16, 2015 by Denise

The Protector Final - 700H

The Protector
Sizzling Miami #3
by
Jessie G.

GGR-LB Blurb

There was a time when Master Saul Alvarez filled his days fighting and his nights teaching willing subs the pleasure of his whip. His compassionate understanding of the masochist mind makes him the most sought after professional sadist in the Miami BDSM community. Neither role invites long term relationships, but he’s comfortable with his solitary existence until he is charged with guarding Durango’s prized whore. One look into those terror filled eyes has him vowing to risk it all to save the beautiful man.
Javier Escardo had been praying for death, but never expected the stone cold killer he got in response. One glimpse into those sinful eyes reveals not only the promise of retribution, but a reason to live. Eight years later, free and mostly sane, Javier is determined to take what belongs to him. Saul’s heart. Through hell and back, through layers of pain and shifting realities, that one truth has remained firm. His protector needs saving and he can’t do it alone.
Hidden beneath the public persona, Kyle Jensen is a man who craves to be invisible without being insignificant. He longs to find a Master who will see his need to be taken over without abusing him and a lover who will care about him beyond the sexual games. It isn’t until he encounters the smoldering combination of Saul and Javier that he realizes it was never supposed to be just one partner at all.
Can two battered hearts be mended by the love of a third? Kyle becomes the light to their darkness, and he’s willing to risk his heart for theirs, but when the past threatens Saul, will Javier’s sacrifice destroy them all?

Author’s Note:
The Protector deals with issues of sexual abuse and forced prostitution. While these acts are not detailed on the page, there are many references to them and the ongoing fight to heal and overcome. This book should not be read by anyone who would be adversely affected by these references.

FAR Jessie G Bio PhotoLike many readers, the dream of being a writer has been with me a long time. After three decades of trying, I’d begun to doubt. Thanks to social media, I followed my favorite authors hoping to glean some words of wisdom as I pounded out half-formed ideas with alarming regularity. Two repetitive themes emerged: To be a great writer you must read a lot and your butt must be in the chair every day like it’s a job. The more you write, the easier it will be to write and the better you will be at writing. I took that advice to heart and write every day. With two published books and counting, it’s been amazing to have made this dream my reality.

I am a firm believer in marriage equality, love at first sight, power dynamics and happily ever after. I’m a lover of strong secondary characters and series filled with families, biological or chosen. All are themes you’ll find throughout my books.

GGR-LB Excerpt

If he had to look in those concerned eyes one more second he was
going to lose his shit and he didn’t even know why. What he needed to do was
get the ball rolling on their forty-eight hour fuck-fest. The clock was ticking
and he refused to waste another second pondering things best left un-pondered.
“So what’s the prize?”
“The prize?” Damn but Javier was cute with his nose wrinkled in
confusion. Kyle couldn’t resist leaning in and rubbing his own against it,
causing Javier to giggle. There it was again, boy on the cusp of discovery.
“For the winner of tongue tag, there’s got to be a prize.” Kyle
pretended to think about it and rocked back against Saul, willing him into the
game. “I know!”
Vibrating with anticipation, Javier pressed in close along his
front, rubbing their cocks together and begged, “Tell me!”
And to think, Javier had called him adorable. “Winner gets to ride
his cock.”
Saul rocked him forward and he could feel Javier automatically
respond. Just like that they were one fluid movement, now if only Javier were
willing to roll over and offer up his ass they could be one fluid fuck chain.
Though he was content to be the bottom, Kyle just knew being the guy in the
middle of Saul and Javier…in this position…was going to rock his world. The
whole staged ménage to get the right camera angle usually included a test of
his dexterity and rarely came with a satisfying orgasm. This right here, the
leisurely seductive rocking felt so intimate and….damn! Focus, he needed to
focus on the moment and store that thought away for the future.
“Well then what’s the loser get?” Javier asked.
It was the perfect response. Not that he thought either of them
was going to be selfish lovers, but it was always good to get confirmation.
“Uhm, I guess that depends. I’m thinking some oral gratification would be a
good consolation prize. Does he do that?”
“Saul? Why wouldn’t he?” Kyle had known many a top who thought it
was beneath them to suck cock; apparently Javier never had that problem. “He’s
really good, too.”
Hot damn! Did Saul suck cock the way he kissed, like he had all
the time in the world to enjoy it? Kyle was so ready to experience that!
“How good?”
“Like…” Javier chewed on his lower lip as he sought the right
words. “Like mind numbing, toe curling, shake you apart and leave you begging
for more, good.”

“Well now—” Kyle teased when he felt Saul’s smug smile against his
nape. “—it’s not that I don’t trust your opinion, baby, but I should really
judge that for myself.”

“Always best to experience these things first hand.” Javier nodded
seriously. How was he to resist this pair, really?
“Are the two of you going to talk about it all morning or will
there be actual tongue tagging soon?” Saul grumbled. “Not that this hasn’t been
amusing, but one of you better make a move or I’m leaving you both here to
suffer.”
“Suffer?” Kyle scoffed, “We’ll just fuck without you.”
Faster than he could think of why that challenge was such a bad
idea, Saul flipped him onto his stomach and pinned him. With Javier squeaking
and scurrying back, and Saul giving him his best early morning glare, Kyle
could not find a single thing to regret in his statement. In fact, it was all
he could do not to pat himself on the back and whoop out an enthusiastic Hell
Yes!
“I would’ve thought a smart pup like you wouldn’t need this
spelled out for him. My pups don’t fuck without me and back talk like that will
make me impose further sanctions,” Saul warned.
Kyle really wanted to push his luck. If not for Javier watching
them curiously, he would have aimed for the back talker of the year award.

THE MEN OF LONDON
From Charing Cross to Waterloo, there’s no escaping love.
SEEING THROUGH…
28-year-old Draven Samuels has a tragic past, but as an investigator with a high-profile London company he now gets what he wants. Tough, sarcastic, and sceptical, he has no patience for lies and even less for people who waste his time. Even if they’re as beautiful as the wild and dark-haired Taylor Abelard. Especially when they’re talking over the body of a murder victim.
THE DARKNESS
Psychic Taylor Abelard is used to people calling him a freak. He can see past events and feel the ghostly vibrations of people close to him who’ve passed on. It’s why he doesn’t get too close to the living. But this time, against his better judgment, despite Draven’s mocking rejoinders, Taylor will get closer than ever before. The mystery surrounding a dead friend will lead the two men down a dark and seedy trail of blackmail and lies. Add in the heartbreak of a family tragedy, and events lead them straight into each other’s arms. By the end of this night, all their demons will have risen—and been banished with the dawn.

Susan Mac Nicol is a self confessed bookaholic, an avid watcher of videos of sexy pole dancing men, self confessed geek and nerd and in love with her Smartphone. This little treasure is called ‘the boyfriend’ by her long suffering husband, who says if it vibrated, there’d be no need for him. Susan hasn’t had the heart to tell him there’s an app for that…

She is never happier than when sitting in the confines of her living room/study/on a cold station platform scribbling down words and making two men fall in love. She is a romantic at heart and believes that everything happens (for the most part) for a reason.
She likes to think of herself as a ‘half full’ kinda gal, although sometimes that philosophy is sorely tested.

Lover of walks in the forest, theatre productions, dabbling her toes in the cold North Sea and the vibrant city of London where you can experience all four seasons in a day , she is a hater of pantomime (so please don’t tar and feather her), duplicitous people, bigotry and self righteous idiots.

In an ideal world, Susan Mac Nicol would be Queen of England and banish all the bad people to the Never Never Lands of Wherever -Who Cares. As that’s never going to happen, she contents herself with writing her HEA stories and pretending, that just for a little while, good things happen to good people.

I have always been a romantic at heart. I believe that while life is tough, there is always a happy ending just around the corner. I started reading traditional historical romances when I was a teenager, then life and law school got in the way. It wasn’t until I picked up a copy of Bertrice Small and became swept away to Queen Elizabeth’s court that my interest in romance novels became renewed.
But somewhere along the way, my tastes shifted. While I still enjoys a juicy Historical romance, I began experimenting with newer, more cutting edge genres and discovered the world of Male/Male romance. Once I picked up her first, I became so enamored of the authors, the character-driven stories and the overwhelming emotion of the books, I knew I wanted to write my own.
I live in New York City with my husband and two children and hopefully soon a cat of my own. My day begins with a lot of caffeine and ends with a glass or two of red wine. I practice law but daydream of a time when I can sit by a beach somewhere and write beautiful stories of men falling in love. Although there is bound to be angst along the way, a Happily Ever After is always guaranteed.

He threw away the labels and had eleven amazing years with her, but now, he feels even more lost trying to figure out how to move on after Shelly’s death. After nearly a year of watching Scott fade away, Shelly’s father forces him to start living again.

Author Interview:
Today at Two Chicks Obsessed, we are blessed with the
presence of someone I adore in person, as well as an author (although I haven’t
read any of her m/f books yet…don’t tell her!!!). Sloan Johnson is here to
answer five good questions about her new book Godsend.
TCO: A happy beautiful good morning to you, Sloan! Welcome
to Two Chicks Obsessed, we are delighted you came over to answer some burning
questions.  Thank you for taking a few
minutes out of your crazy week to interview.
SJ: Thanks for having me this morning! I’m not so sure about
beautiful, though. I mean, the sun’s shining, but I’m pretty sure it’s cold
enough to freeze the nuts off a bridge today!
1    TCO: **snort laugh** Okay, question number 1…I won’t give anything away
on this, I will let you dance around it all you want. But where did you get the
idea for such a difficult, and controversial subject to start this book? Was
there a specific thing that inspired you to write it?
SJ: There are times I asked myself that very question.
Anyone who knows me will tell you that I’m not at all in control of my
characters. They invade my head and I have to tell their stories. I will say
that I love writing about topics that force me to open my mind to new topics.
In the case of Scott and Chris, I think it’s a topic that a lot of people look
at and have an instant reaction, but when you stop and really think about both
sides of the situation, you may change your mind. That’s not my hope with this
book, at all, because I respect everyone’s right to their own opinions, but I
do hope that people will consider that there’s more than it seems on the
surface.
2
TCO: What kind of reactions were you expecting when you
wrote this book, or were considering writing this book? And have those
reactions been what you thought or different?
SJ: I’ll admit, I was terrified by the time I sent out the
first advance copies of the book. It’s not a topic that is light and fluffy,
and it’s not one everyone can accept or enjoy reading. Luckily, not a single
person has torn me apart for how I handled either of the topics (because there
is a secondary that I think could have gone either way). I have, however, been
overwhelmed by messages from people who thought it was a beautifully painful
story.
3
TCO:  Did you
have a goal (if so, what was it) in writing a story with such a controversial
topic?
SJ: The only “goal” I had was telling the story, and doing
it in a way that was respectful to those families who have lived through this
pain. More than once, I stopped writing because I wasn’t certain I was being
accurate in my portrayal of the situation or the process.
4
TCO: So, what are the chances that we will see a
sequel, short story, bonus scene **bats eyes**…heck even a two sentence conversation again
between Chris and Scott?
SJ: I hate to say never, because that’s a sure way for them
to start talking to me again, but I don’t think there’s more story for Scott
and Chris. They’re happy where they are and it’s time to let them move on in
life. I will, however, say that I have a few things up my sleeve for bonus
scenes that’ll pop up from time to time!
5
TCO: Last question…did you UGLY cry when you wrote IT?
Be honest!
SJ: Yes, yes, OMG yes!!! I had to take four smoke breaks
(yes, it’s an evil habit, I know) during the prologue because I was crying so hard
I couldn’t see the screen. And there were a few other times where tears flowed
down my cheeks, but nothing was as bad as those first few thousand words!
Thank you Sloan, so much for answering our five good
questions about Godsend!!!
Everyone, I cannot stress enough, you NEED to get this book.
What a story about love, loss, grief and recovery. (And yes, I ugly cried when
I read it…I might have called the lovely Ms. Johnson a few names via im…just
saying…)

Denise’s Review:

I was blessed to be able to read this amazing book ahead of its release, getting the chance to real soak into all the emotion that this book draws out of the reader.

I will not tell you that you won’t need tissues, you will…right from the prologue. You will likely need them later on as well. I will also not tell you that this book isn’t going to be a tough read, it is. However, what I will tell you is that you get such an in depth look into truly recovering and coming out the other side stronger from crippling grief, and finding a second chance at true love, that it makes this intense read so very worth every second.

Scott and Chris meet months after Scott’s wife Shelly died, after his father in law refuses to let him continue to wallow in his grief and makes him attend a group meeting focusing on recovering from such losses. As they begin to build a friendship, then a relationship, you can see all the real life challenges that this type of transition brings out. Guilt, remorse, backsliding into the all consuming grief cloud, all come into play here. Scott and Chris are both dealing with a loss, but Scott’s loss is compounded with the secret of how his wife died.

Scott is a stubborn man, expecting that he will never get over the loss of his wife, who he fell in love with despite always believing himself to be gay-an interesting switch up of the trope “gay for you”. He loved her as a best friend, and fell in love with her along the way. As he and Chris become closer, beginning a relationship, he finds that the guilt over finding love again that he expected isn’t there, believing that his wife Shelly would want him happy, but still struggling with the intense lows that come with dealing with such a devastating loss. Meanwhile, Chris is patient and loving, understanding how much Scott loved Shelly, always acknowledging that, and knowing that each day may bring new challenges, but they could face them together.

If you are looking for a light read, well, I’ll say you get some funny one liners in here, but you won’t find this to be a light read by any means. However, the love that slowly grows for these two men is such a beautiful winding course that it is worth all the tissues. Getting to see Shelly’s perspective is unique, and touching. And in the end, gaining some awareness of a growing issue in this country (you’ll see when you read the prologue) all combine to make this worth every minute of your time to read.

I can’t say strongly enough for you to pick this book up, settle in with a box of tissues, a cup of tea, snuggle into your reading nook, because you will be reading this from beginning to end, and loving every hard fought moment of it.

My final determination on this book is a strong five pieces of eye candy. So well done, and when you can hit my emotions as hard as this book did, you have won me over, Ms. Johnson (not that she had not already!!!).

Whit by Cora RoseNew release and review!Whit by Cora Rose was my first book by her and I believe her first book. And I was really impressed. It's not easy to find a first book that I don't nit pick. But I really enjoyed it and she has been quite the prolific writer since.Caleb is the same story told from Whit's point of view. (Whit was Caleb's point of view)This is a good young adult (21ish) romance, opposites attract, gay for you, rich boy/poor boy...all the tropes. It was fun to read the story from Whit's POV. How he was really feeling about Caleb, about meeting family, about dealing with his own family, etc. And to hear how dirty his mind really was since he's so buttoned up (figuratively) to the world.I loved seeing Caleb's family just immediately accept him as part of the family. Jokes, hugs and all.If you enjoyed Whit, you'll enjoy Caleb. Same story, different perspectives.Do I need all of her books to have this companion piece? Nah. But I'm glad I revisited these guys.4 Pieces of Eye Candy ... See MoreSee Less

✨EXCERPT: CALEB by @coraroseauthor releasing April 24th! #PreOrderNowbooks2read.com/u/4En91A I shake my head, even though it is. I feel like my heart is being ripped from my body. The choice I have to make. Is it even a choice? “I…I overreacted. I’m…I’ll be fine,” I tell him, clutching at his hand and turning it to kiss that rough palm. Because I have to be fine with whatever I choose. And I don’t know if I can choose a future with him. Not after everything I’ve been through. My parents owe me for what they put me through. I’ve earned it with my blood and tears. Can I give it all up? For him? Caleb’s thumbs rub over my cheeks. “Okay.” He doesn’t sound convinced. Not that I expect him to. I’m a liar in the worst way. Selfish, thoughtless. He will never forgive me once this is over. My eyes water, and Caleb’s face crumples as he pulls me into his chest and holds me. I should never have let him be my roommate. I should have let him go about his life, never knowing me. It would have been simpler, better. But I was too greedy. Wanted him too much. And now look what I’ve done. I’m set to ruin him. I need to pull away before I do more damage. I need to end this. Soon, I tell myself. Just one more day. Let me have one more day.#mmromance #corarose The Author Agency ... See MoreSee Less

✨TEASER: LICKED by @charlienwrites releasing May 12th!#PreOrderNowmybook.to/lickitoneWhy you need to #ONECLICK this book…🍦Very Nerdy Meet Cute 🍦Low Angst🍦Slow Burn🍦Lingerie🍦First Times🍦Blowjobs in Beach Huts🍦Supportive & Nosy Friends🍦Sweetness & Spice🍦“Let Me Help You” 🍦MM RomanceLick It Like A Good BoyIt’s not often you meet gorgeous gothic men at wargaming tournaments. So, of course I tripped over my tongue instead of asking for his number. And despite my friends’ numerous offers to help find him online, we’re too busy opening Lick It!, our new ice cream shop, to spare time for my non-existent love life. But when Jonathan walks through the door on a sunny Friday afternoon, I can’t help but feel like it’s fate. He’s shy, sweet, and we immediately click. Jonathan doesn’t have much experience with relationships, so I’m determined to give him the attention he deserves, even if it means I’m pulled in two directions. With summer heating up and the shop getting hectic, spending time together is getting harder and harder. I don’t know how to balance the long hours and being a good boyfriend, but I know I have to figure it out. Because meeting Jonathan is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. ✨INFLUENCERS: Sign up to review this awesome release: bit.ly/lickedsignup#charlienovak #mmromance #kindleunlimited The Author Agency ...
