This was the first book I have read by Louise Lyons and I enjoyed it. The story flowed well and kept me interested.

I loved Sasha and Joel. They complimented each other and were a pretty good match in my opinion. Joel is such a good person and has a heart of Gold. Sasha was just adorable. I liked getting to see the relationship develop and the love scenes were well written and pretty damn hot.

This story was full of every different emotion. I found myself going from smiling to laughing and then gritting my teeth and getting incredibly angry. I wanted to take Karel and smother him with a pillow. Be prepared to read this in one sitting because it was hard for me to put it down. I had to know what happened next.

I can’t wait to check out more from this author.

Not A Game by Cardeno C : Release Day Review

July 15, 2016 by Denise

not a gamesynopsis

An accidental meeting and a misunderstanding lead to a life-altering connection.

A new job, a new city, and hopefully a new life. When chubby gamer Oliver Barnaby receives a job offer from the best boutique game developer in the country, he leaves his family and his less than spectacular existence in Oklahoma without a second’s hesitation. Determined to change more than his career and his geography, Oliver implements a plan to finally land a boyfriend. Step one is improving his skills in the bedroom.

A life that looks perfect on paper, but feels empty in reality. Attractive, successful, charismatic Jaime Snow has a life other people envy. His already booming business is growing. He isn’t lacking in friends. And he has no trouble finding a date. But there’s an emptiness in Jaime’s heart and a hole in his life that only the right man can fill.

An accidental meeting, a misunderstanding, and falling in love. When Oliver and Jaime end up at the same bar at the same time, they each see something they want in the other. Going to bed together that first night is easy. Building the lifetime relationship they both desperately crave will require trust, time, and a little misunderstanding.

denise review

If you want an angst filled, nail biter of a story, Not A Game isn’t the book for you. However, if you want what I think is Cardeno C‘s specialty, a romance set in the real world, with characters that you can relate to, then this book is a great choice!

Oliver is a chubby game developer who decides to move across the country to start a new job, and a new life, and decides to press the reset button on his love life by getting lessons on loving from a male escort. In walks Jamie, and they begin a misunderstanding that Jamie is loathe to correct until he can figure out how to do it and keep Oliver in his life.

I really enjoyed getting to know Oliver, and all his quirks. Everything was a numbers game for him, down to figuring out the number of people attending a party. Logic and forthright understanding was how Oliver worked through his life. If he could quantify it, or explain it rationally, then he could understand it, and move on. However, if it made no sense, then his nerves ballooned, and he would shut down. This was so true to how many people deal with every day life situations. It was just one more reason to love the character of Oliver.

Jamie was so sweet and loving, caring for Oliver as much as he could, showing him how important he was, and how attractive he found him. He let Oliver know that his size was desirable to him, not a turn off, emphasizing it when Oliver needed it most. Jamie showed himself to be the boyfriend that Oliver needed and wanted.

I would have liked to see a bit more of a conflict, to see how these men dealt with issues that needed resolution. There were a couple things that I thought needed to be resolved, for Oliver’s comfort level to be where he needed it to be to be comfortable in his relationship with Jamie. However, a sweet read like this doesn’t necessarily need conflict to be enjoyable, and leave the reader wanting the HEA that came at the end.

And of course, we have a great setup to see what is ahead for Jack, as he ventures back into the world of dating after 8 years of a broken heart. Looking forward to that, because CC will no doubt give us what we are craving.

Dinner for One by Meg Harding: Release Day Review

July 13, 2016 by Denise

dinnersynopsis

Bastien isn’t used to bad reviews. His French restaurant is the toast of the town, and when a well-known critic insults it, he’s left off-kilter. Luckily for him he’s found a distraction. He’s just met an attractive writer at his niece’s school bake sale. He’s into food, into Bastien and the touch of kink they share, and there’s a chemistry between them that might make the perfect recipe.

James isn’t expecting to meet a good-looking French chef at a bake sale, but he’s not going to let the chance slide. It comes as a surprise when the chef turns out to be the owner of a place he knows—and has reviewed—and it puts James in a sticky situation. So he might have to omit some pertinent information to make it work… at least for now.

deanna review

For me this was the perfect story! I loved everything about it. It was so refreshing to read a book where their is no angst or uncertainty about being gay. In fact, being gay isn’t even mentioned in the whole book. The main characters embraced themselves, their friends and families accepted them for who they were and it made for a wonderful story. I would love to see this dynamic become more mainstream, it would be awesome.

James is a well known food critic who gave a pretty harsh review to a local French restaurant. Bastien is the owner of said French restaurant and is really upset about his only negative review. The two meet at a bake sale for their nieces and nephew and hit it off immediately. The only catch, Bastien doesn’t know who James is.

James’s family talks him into keeping the secret and seeing where things go, because if they don’t work out their is no reason to come clean. The problem is, things are working out. Bastien and James are spending more and more time together and James’s secret is hanging over their heads like a lead balloon.

Just when James is about to come clean Bastien finds out on his own. Both are heartbroken and lean on their families to help them. Both will have to decide if one lie can spoil all of the wonderful time they had together.

Where do I begin. As much as I love James and Bastien I loved their quirky families as well. James’s siblings are crazy and funny. I was cracking up at their antics.

This was a slow burn kind of story. The build up was perfection. Their feeling steadily grew stronger without the insta-love feel. Even when things fell apart it was low on angst and drama. This was a great story about two mature grown men, even with James’s brothers antics nothing about it felt juvenile.

The dates that Bastien planned for them were so romantic, even when they didn’t go as he planned.

The way James wooed (is that even a word) Bastien after the fallout was so romantic and lovely and Bastien’s reaction was perfect.

This is my first read by Meg Harding and it won’t be my last. This book is definitely on my Best of 2016 list.

I can’t say enough good things about this book, just go read it!

ChasingTheDreamFS

synopsis

Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, Brian Paulson has lived a life of luxury and ease. If he’s been left lonely because of his family’s pursuit of wealth and their own happiness, he figures it’s a small price to pay for what he sees as most important: money.

Cade McAllister has never had it easy. He works two jobs to support himself, his mother, and his special-needs brother. They don’t have much, but to Cade, love and taking care of the people who are important to him mean more than material possessions. When Cade is mugged in the park, he can’t afford to lose what little he has, and he’s grateful for Brian’s intervention.

Cade is given a chance to return the favor when Brian’s grandfather passes away and Brian’s assets are frozen. Cade offers Brian a place to stay and helps him find work, and the two men grow closer as they learn the good and the bad of the very different worlds they come from. Just as Brian is starting to see there’s more to life than what money can buy, a clause in his grandfather’s will could send their relationship up in smoke.

Guest Post

First I have to start this guest post by saying that I love Two Chicks Obsessed (TCO note: Thank you! We love you too!!!).  First because the blog name is so awesome and because they really are what they say they are.  These are ladies who are obsessed with books and there is nothing better than that.  I know I’m supposed to be talking about Chasing the Dream, but I think I’d rather talk to you about readers.  See Chasing the Dream is about a man who finally figures out what he truly wants in life.  Up till this point he had been going through the motions, but in Chasing the Dream, Brian comes to learn what it is that’s really important in life.  And for us writers, its our readers who form a large part of our dreams.  We tell our stories, write them down, and then leave the rest to fit up to the reader to complete the dream and let it take root in their imagination.   So to Two Chicks Obsessed and everyone else who enjoys a good story, I want to thank each of you for being part of my dream!

denise review

I wasn’t sure what to expect from Andrew Grey‘s latest book, Chasing the Dream. I love pretty much anything that Andrew writes. He has an amazing ability to capture the hearts of his characters, and find emotions that make sense in the situation that the MC’s are in. Andrew writes book after book, releasing (if my estimates are correct) approximately every 6 weeks or so. Yet, he has an uncanny ability to make each book fresh, different, and not in the least formulaic. He researches the world he creates so well that even if he was wrong, I would still assume he was correct over my own assumptions. 🙂

In this book, I expected to dislike Brian from page 1, and that was not far off the mark. Self-centered, snobby and without any moral compass, he was the epitome of what a man who grew up with all the privilege of money, but none of the responsibility would be like. And this book was about Brian, almost entirely. Yes, there was a love story, but in its essence this book was about Brian’s redemption, his road to healing his emotional scars, and finding out what living with purpose and passion are all about.

Along the way, Brian meets Cade who doesn’t show him the way, as much as he helps Brian be able to find his path, merely by being there for him when no one else would. Cade had almost nothing and yet, was willing to give what he had for someone who needed it, showing Brian by example that living that life of purpose was more meaningful than all the money he could spend.

I cried several times during this book. Seeing how Cade’s life, and especially Phillip’s, helped Brian realize what he needed in his in own life, and how to create his own family was inspiring. Watching Brian move from the self-centered man he had been to one who cared about others, and their needs brought those tissues out. 🙂

Great job to Andrew on once again creating a world that the reader can connect with.

excerpt

“Mr. Paulson?” Cade said, and he turned to see him with the manager of the restaurant right behind him.

“There’s seems to be a problem with your card,” the manager explained.

Brian pulled out his wallet and handed them another.

“I’ll have to call them tomorrow.”

He turned back to Peter, who said good night. Brad also said good night and followed Peter out. Brian sat in his chair once again, and this time Cade and the manager returned, both looking just as dour.

“I’m afraid this one has been declined as well.”

He placed the card on the countertable, and Brian went cold.

“There has to be some mistake.”

“Quite possibly, I’m sure.” The manager was clearly uncomfortable.

“You know who I am?” Brian said, holding himself high in order to hide his embarrassment. Nothing like this had ever happened to him. He’d need to call his trustee as well as the bank and yell at all of them in the morning.

“Yes, I do.” He sounded snooty, as though Brian had been caught stealing. “Cade is off shift and has agreed to go home with you to get the bill paid. A check will suffice, but if it isn’t good, we will call the police, and we will know where you can be found.”

Brian wanted to snap at him and put him in his place, but the realization hit him that he was in no position to bargain. The manager could simply call the police, and then that story would hit the papers. His family would have a cow. His fucking aunt and uncle would be making snide comments about it for years.

“Of course. It’s just some mix-up.” Brian stood to get ready to leave.

“I’ll need a minute to change,” Cade said and hurried away.

Brian left the dining room. This was one time he did not want to be the center of attention. When Cade came out, they walked to his car.

“I’m sorry about all this,” Brian said as embarrassment rose once again. He hated being out of control, and this was certainly that. He had a trust fund set up by his family grandfather that was his source of money. He never gave it any thought and never asked anyone else for anything. Being beholden to any of his relatives was not something he was the least bit interested in.

Brian started the car and drove sedately through town, then parking parked in front of his building. He figured he’d have to take Cade back to the restaurant once he’d straightened this out. They got out of the car and went inside, riding rode up to his floor in the elevator and unlocking unlocked his condo door.

Inside he went right to his desk.

“This is amazing,” Cade said, walking over to the windows to peer out.

Brian found his checkbook and wrote a check that included the amount for the bill plus a generous tip for Cade, especially considering the trouble he’d gone through. “Here you are,” he said, walking to where Cade stared. He’d seen that view so many times he rarely paid any attention to it any longer.

Cade took the check and put it carefully in into his pocket. “I bet you have a front-row seat for the fireworks from up here,” Cade said, practically pressing his nose to the glass. He seemed so enthralled that Brian stood next to him, looking down to the park near the art museum.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been here for that.” His uncle always had one of his family “command performance” parties at his house.

“What a shame,” Cade said softly and then seemed to blink out of his thoughts.

“I should get you back to the restaurant.” Brian was anxious to have this whole episode behind him, even if being with Cade was rather nice. There were no expectations, either good or bad. His family always expected the worst, and he usually delivered on that. His friends expected either the clown or the party animal, and he was adept at playing both those roles.

“Yeah.” He didn’t turn right away. “I love the art museum under all the lights. They have the brise-soleil up, and it looks like it’s going to sail away into the night.”

Cade practically bounced, and Brian turned to where he was looking. He’d never really paid any attention before.

“It does,” he agreed. Brian stood at his own windows for a few more minutes as Cade marveled over what Brian saw every day. It was like experiencing something brand new, and he’d lived here for over a year.

“I’m sorry. I got carried away,” Cade said as he stepped back from the window. “I shouldn’t take up any more of your time.” He patted his pocket. “I appreciate you giving me the check. My boss will be happy about that.” The nervous energy seemed to be back once again.

“Let me give you a ride,” Brian offered, and they left the condo and rode, riding back down. When Brian stepped outside the building, he instantly noticed a number of things. His car was sitting on a towing company flatbed, and large men moved to stand behind him. “What the hell is going on?”

“The people who own the car as well as the condo have decided that you don’t get to use them any longer,” one of the men said as he crossed his bulging arms over his thick chest and stared blankly ahead, as though he wasn’t even seeing Brian at all.

Brian walked up to the huge man who spoke to him. “I own the condo and the car,” he snapped.

“Do you?” he asked and placed a card in Brian’s hand. It had his grandfather’s name on it and nothing else.

“Shit!” He crumpled the card and tossed it back at the man. “What the hell am I supposed to do now?” Brian yanked out his phone. “Peter, thank God,” he began as soon as the call was answered. “Everything is messed up right now, and I need a favor. Can I crash with you tonight?”

Peter hesitated. He sounded winded. “Umm, I have company already. I don’t think that’s a particularly good idea. What happened? Why can’t you stay at your place?”

“My grandfather,” Brian answered.

“Is that what happened with the bill at the restaurant?” Peter asked, and Brian wondered how word could possibly have gotten around so fast. “Carolyn Langdon was at the next table. I’m surprised you didn’t notice her. She spread the word that you were having money trouble within seconds.” Peter groaned softly and tried to muffle it but failed. “I need to go. Call me when all of this is straightened out.” He hung up.

Brian wanted to smash his phone on the sidewalk, but he needed it.

“Simone,” he said when his second call was answered. “I need a place to crash for a few days. Things are really getting weird, and I need some help.”

“Sorry, sweetheart, but we’re getting ready to go out of town for a few weeks.”

She sounded like talking to him was the last thing she wanted to be doing. What the fuck was wrong with these people? He’d shown them a good time for years. Hell, just a few hours ago he was buying them dinner and having a great time.

“We heard what happened, and I’m so sorry to hear that. If we’d have known, we certainly could have helped, but…. Just a second. No. Don’t pack that. I’ll be there in a minute. I really need to go. But I’ll call you when we get back, and I really hope you get all this straightened out.”

She made a kiss noise and then hung up. Brian was floored. Two of his closest friends had turned him away.

Cade had moved out of the way and was on the phone. “Yes, I have the check. Would it be okay if I brought it in tomorrow when I come to work?” Cade seemed nervous once again. “Thank you. I’ll come in a little early so you’ll have it.”

He hung up, and Brian heard a sigh of relief.

Brian made a few more calls, none of which were answered, and he left messages with each of them. He told himself he could straighten all this out when he went to the lawyer’s in the morning. In the meantime, it was getting late, and he needed a place to stay. He almost called his uncle, but his finger hovered above the number. He hated to ask that piece of work for anything. He shivered both from cold and what his uncle would say.

The night air was starting to get under his shirt. The wind off the lake had died down, but the breeze was still chill and damp. Brian pulled out his wallet to see what cash he had on him and realized there wasn’t enough for even a cheap hotel room. He never carried much cash. He always paid by credit card.

“I don’t know what’s going on, but you can come home with me for the night,” Cade offered in a rather quiet voice. “My apartment is really small, and it’s nothing like that one.” Cade looked up the building. “But I have a sofa you can use for the night.” Cade bit his lower lip slightly.

“Thank you,” Brian said through his desperation. He couldn’t believe his friends had deserted him. All he was asking for was a place to sleep for a single night. That was all the time he needed to straighten this out. “You don’t have to do that,” Brian said, feeling something he couldn’t ever remember, humility.

“In the park, you helped me.”

Brian turned to the men by the door of the building, letting others in. He wanted to scream at them again. That was his home. Hell, he thought of calling the police, but if his grandfather had something to do with this, even dead, it wasn’t likely they would intervene.

“We need to go,” Cade said.

morgan review

This is my first book by Brandon Witt and I loved it. The writing was fantastic. The story was full of drama, passion, heartbreak, angst and tears. I loved the MC’s and I thought the chemistry between them was perfect. Even though Noah and Randall still have feelings from when they were kids, I enjoyed getting to watch them fall in love as the relationship grew.  I fell head over heels for Noah and he was exactly what Randall needed as he fought some pretty rough battles throughout the story.

The secondary characters brought so much life to the story as well. I just adored Bailey and Kayla. Randall’s family was something else and Randall has such a great personality considering he grew up in that hateful, entitled household.

This story has twists and turns and is full of emotion and excitement. Be ready to stay up long into the night to finish because once I started I didn’t want to put it down. This is a definite reread for me and I can’t wait to check out more of Brandon’s stories.

He’s the same man I’ve always seen: shattered, exhausted, shaped by injury and grief. The man who doesn’t believe he deserves a second happily ever after. But he’s also something else now.Not quite mine, but I’m allowing myself to say he is, only for this moment.Lifting higher onto my knees, my hands creep along his thighs and I begin to tug the robe open. He doesn’t stop me. He watches with fevered eyes, one turned in slightly, but still so fucking focused on the way I’m touching him.I’m terrified something I say or do is going to break this spell and he’s going to banish me from this space, so I take my time drawing the tie on his robe open so I can see all of him.And every inch is fucking gorgeous.#emlindsey #mmromance The Author Agency ... ✨It’s cover reveal day for HUNT ME by @authoremlindsey & @coraroseauthor releasing August 7th!#PreOrderNowbooks2read.com/u/388EGa Why you need to #ONECLICK this book…🔥Strangers to Lovers🔥Stalking as a Love Language🔥Deaf Drag Queen🔥Panty Wearing🔥Autistic character rep🔥Coffins as a special interest🔥Cemetery flower bouquets🔥Only One Bed🔥Forced Proximity🔥MM RomanceDoing Deaf drag isn’t supposed to come with threats to my life, damn it. I’ve had a stalker before, and apparently—even after involving my friend from the FBI—he’s decided to come back and make my life hell. But this time, however, a slightly terrifying stranger shows up to play hero.He knocked my stalker on his ass and left me with blood smears on my jaw and a kiss on my lips so devastating, it threatened to rearrange my whole life. And then he disappeared into the shadows. But just when I think I’ll never see him again, I find him haunting my steps everywhere I turn. It’s not long before I realize hunting me might be his love language, and god help me, I think I’m into it. Especially when each time he catches me, he leaves me breathless and wanting more.My stalker is still around, but being with Archie is worth whatever the unwelcome blast from my past wants to throw at me.After all, having a boyfriend with a thing for knives, coffins, and funeral flowers is a great way to protect myself, and if his obsession and love for me isn’t enough to take my stalker down, my determination to get my happily ever after will.Hunt Me is the first book in the morally grey rom-com series Murder Hearts. It’s a spicy, MM stalker-to-lover romance with forced proximity, coffins as a special interest, an Autistic MC, a Deaf Drag Queen who doesn’t have time for anyone’s BS, stalking as a love language, a set of lovable murder brothers, an unhinged cat café, and a steamy, swoony, happily ever after.✨INFLUENCERS: Sign up here for this amazing release: bit.ly/HUNTMESIGNUPCover Credit:BreathlessLit#coverreveal #corarose #emlindsey #mmromance The Author Agency ... Two Chicks Obsessed with Books and Eye Candy
✨TEASER: THE GEEK AND THE GHOST by Cambria Hebert releasing July 10th!#PreOrderNowa.co/d/07PLBaC9 Why you will love this book…🔥Hero with a villain complex🔥Pocket-sized Geek🔥Over the top possessive🔥MC Rescue Fantasy🔥Banter🔥Chronic illness rep🔥Touch him and die🔥Size difference🔥Dude in distress (suspense)🔥Hurt/Comfort🔥Homeless MC 🔥MM RomanceI’m about thirty seconds from a toe tag and my own freezer at the mortuary when he materializes from the shadows and fights like hell to keep me breathing.I had no idea homeless disasters like me got guardian angels—or that guardian angels punch people and smoke—but suddenly, there he is: a hero dressed all in black who ghosts me so hard I consider calling a medium. But that would be a waste of money I don’t have.I thought I’d never see him again, but just as I’m about to eat a bullet, he appears, using his body to protect mine. I might have swooned—okay, fine, I do but only on the inside—if it weren’t for the fact he thinks bleeding is an adequate apology for implying I’m a prostitute and running off with my heart.Spoiler alert: It’s not.Now the man with a PhD in vanishing, a tattoo that totally offends me, and eyes with their own force of gravity is suddenly stuck to me like glue and being wildly inconvenient about it.And he won’t stop calling me a pipgeek. What even is that?He insists I trust him, but I can’t trust anyone, not even my own body. Unfortunately, when the resident drug lord calls in that favor I foolishly owe, things go from bad to catastrophic with alarming enthusiasm. On the upside, having a villain with a hero complex for a stalker means staying alive will be easy. But not getting hurt again is a whole other story.✨INFLUENCERS: Sign up for this awesome release: bit.ly/TGATGSIGNUP#cambriahebert #mmromance The Author Agency ... Two Chicks Obsessed with Books and Eye Candy
✨TEASER: DRIPPED by @charlienwrites releasing July 9th!#PreOrderNowmybook.to/lickittwoWhy you need to #ONECLICK this book…🍦Boss x Employee🍦Hooking Up For Stress Relief🍦“Just For The Summer”🍦Late Night Kitchen Dates🍦Friends To Lovers🍦Oops We Caught Feelings🍦Supportive & Nosy Friends🍦Pet Names🍦Spicy & Sweet🍦MM romanceFulfilling my childhood wish of opening an ice cream shop is meant to be a dream come true, not a stress-inducing nightmare. And it’s not meant to make my friends concerned for my health either. But I’ll be fine! All we have to do is survive the summer and then I’ll be able to breathe again. My employee Owen has a different idea, though. He’s seen me watching him swim every morning, and he knows I think he’s ridiculously hot, so he proposes a simple solution to my stress: a summer-long, no-strings hook-up arrangement. It’s the perfect plan on paper. Except, the longer summer goes on, the more I’m developing feelings for the sunshine swimmer who loves my dream as much as I do. But I can’t tell him that. Because Owen doesn’t plan to stay. And I can’t ask him to. Even if letting him walk away would be the worst decision I’ve ever made. Meet Darcy and Owen in the second book of the Lick It! series, set around an artisan ice cream parlour on the Yorkshire coast. It features a stressed out shop owner and his very laid back employee who’s determined to help his boss relax, a ‘just for the summer’ hook-up, late night kitchen dates, friends to lovers, oops we caught feelings (but we’re not talking about it), supportive and nosy friends, pet names, delicious ice cream, and plenty of sweetness and spice. ✨INFLUENCERS: Sign up to review this awesome release: bit.ly/drippedsignup#charlienovak #mmromance The Author Agency ...
