Intoxicating by Onley James: Excerpt and New Release Review

July 22, 2019 by Denise

Lincoln Hudson has just been handed the easiest job in the world. Babysit the spoiled son of a conservative senator, keep him out of trouble, and receive a six-figure paycheck, a paycheck he desperately needs. Wyatt’s father claims he needs Linc’s firm hand and discipline. One look at him and Linc agrees. Wyatt needs discipline.

Being the closeted gay son of a family values senator has left Wyatt Edgeworth with a reckless streak and a love of partying that just cost him eight months of his life and might cost his father his re-election. So now he has a babysitter. A very sexy babysitter.

When Wyatt drunkenly tells Linc he’d make an excellent Daddy, they reach an understanding. Wyatt gets a Daddy and Linc gets a paycheck, then they go their separate ways. For this to work, discretion is key, but with a reporter dogging Wyatt’s every move, that might prove impossible.

Staying together was never an option, but with each passing day, their feelings only grow. Will they risk it all for what’s supposed to be a harmless fling?

Intoxicating is the first book in the Elite Protection Services Series and contains age-gap, Daddy-kink and BDSM elements complete with a HEA and no cliffhangers. Warning: This book contains scenes which may trigger some people including, self-harm, suicide attempt, past and present physical abuse and implied past sexual violence.

He had a right to pout, he assured himself. His balls ached and his cock was hard enough to break a window yet some stupid part of him was still desperate to please his Daddy. If Linc wanted to punish him, Wyatt couldn’t stop him, but that didn’t mean he had to be happy about it.

He was the opposite of happy and it was his right to behave accordingly.

He side-stepped Linc, hitting him with the most frigid look he could muster. “Fine, then I’ll just go take a cold shower… Linc.”

Using Linc’s name was petty, but it gave him a small measure of satisfaction as he sauntered past. Linc caught him by the upper arm, his other hand swatting Wyatt’s backside twice. He bit his lip to keep from moaning, even as his cock leaked, betraying him. Linc spun him back around. “If you need to shower, you can shower with me so I can keep an eye on you. I won’t have you getting yourself off all alone in there.”

“I wouldn’t,” Wyatt fumed.

Linc snickered. “Oh, you would. Instead, I think you should get on your knees and blow me.”

Wyatt glowered at him. “Oh, do you?”

Linc smirked. “Mm hmm. Right now.”

Wyatt cocked his head to the side, lips pursed. “No.”

“Are you disobeying me again?” Linc questioned, threading a hand in Wyatt’s hair, forcing his head back.

Why did he like this so much? “I’m already being punished. What does it matter?”

Linc grinned, stepping into Wyatt’s space, pressing kisses into his throat and along his jaw. “Do you think I can’t make it worse? I could bend you over this bed and spank your bottom until its raw, jerk myself off while I tell you all the things I would’ve done to you if you’d just behaved, put your cock in a cage, make sure you don’t come again for a week, maybe more. Is that what you want? Me, using you for only my benefit? That doesn’t sound like much fun for you?”

I am a huge fan of daddy kink so I was so excited when I read the synopsis and let me tell you, Olney James did not disappoint. This one is scorching hot!

Linc’s new assignment is to watch over Wyatt until his father can be re-elected. It’s explained to Linc that Wyatt is a spoiled brat, always seeking attention with horrendous behavior when nothing can be further from the truth. Once Linc gets to know Wyatt he has a hard time keeping his hands off of him and needs to decide if this “fling” can last longer than the election season.

I loved everything about this book; the story, the character… The plot was fast moving but never predictable. The characters were well developed, even the supporting characters had depth. Wyatt’s best friend Charlie was a hoot, she had such a big personality and a ton of charisma. Wyatt’s Dad on the other hand, I have never hated a fictional character more in my life. Ugh…

Onley James takes you on a wild ride of emotion, from shear desperation to love, despair and then all encompassing happiness. I believe this is the start to a really great series.

Nothing Special by A.E. Via: Audiobook Review

June 13, 2019 by Denise

Detective Cashel “Cash” Godfrey is big, tattooed, and angry so people typically keep their distance. He’s fresh out of the police academy, however, no one is looking to partner with the six-foot-four beast with a huge chip on his shoulder and an inability to trust. When Cash scans the orientation room he wasn’t expecting to find sexy hazel eyes locked onto him. Eyes of the handsome Detective Leonidis “Leo” Day.

Leo is charming, witty, hilariously sarcastic and the only one that can make Cash smile. He’s proud, out, and one bad-ass detective.

Together, Cash and Leo become the most revered and successful narcotics detectives Atlanta’s ever seen. Able to communicate and understand each other, without even having to voice it, they quickly climb up the promotional ranks.

When Cash saves Leo’s life in a raid that turns deadly, Leo begins to see something in the big man that no one else does…something special. But Leo fears he’ll never break through the impenetrable wall that protects Cash’s heart.

I love this series, it’s at the top of re-read list. So, imagine my excitement when Mrs. Via said she was working to put it out in audio format. I may have fangirled a little.

God and Day and two of the most entertaining and lovable characters I have ever read. They are funny, caring, compassionate and tough as nails. Not only do we get to see God and Day transition from partners are work to partners at home, we also get to ride along with some of their hilarious antics on the job. This story has it all; jokes, gun fights, closeted co-workers, and just enough of a sad backstory to balance out the story.

If ever there was a man that was made to be the voice of Detective Cashel Godfrey it was Aiden Snow. His voice is the perfect mix of deep rumbles and smooth honey. He was able to bring to life a story that I have read too many times to count and make me fall in love with it all over again. It was almost like reading it for the first time. I can’t wait to see what magic he brings to Embracing His Syn.

His Consort by Mary Calmes: Audiobook Review

June 11, 2019 by Denise

A new life in New Orleans is all Jason Thorpe had hoped: His quaint little store attracts a devoted staff, and his warm, loving heart grants him a loyal circle of friends. He’s perfectly content, having left behind the chill of a confusing and danger-filled night in Washington, until he discovers something unbelievable lurking in the steamy darkness of the shadowy streets of the Vieux Carré, something that turns out to be terrifying…and utterly mesmerizing.

The prince of the vampires, Varic Maedoc, is visiting New Orleans when he finds out the man who once helped his counselor is there in the Quarter. He thinks to simply meet and thank Jason – until he lays eyes on him. Varic’s devoted himself to protect the honor of his race, and he’s never wanted a mate before…but he immediately knows he must have this man, and no one else will do.

Varic may want to bring Jason safely into his world, but someone who doesn’t like the human’s soothing influence on vampires has deadly plans that would disrupt Varic’s dreams. Now, unable to tell friend from foe, Jason finds himself wondering how to hold on to the prince’s heart when he’s fighting for his life.

I am a huge fan of Mary Calmes, I will read or listen to just about anything she writes. When I saw His Consort I was a little skeptical, I have a hard time finding vampire stories that keep my interest. I feel like most of them are too cliche, almost campy.
This one grabbed my interest from the first word. The story itself was entertaining with just the right amount of intrigue to keep my interest peaked. Mary’s vampyrs introduce you to a whole new vocabulary which at first I thought was going to be difficult to remember because, hey I’m listening and my memory is crap, but I didn’t have a problem.

I haven’t had the pleasure of listening to anything else narrated by Scott Smith, but holy cow that voice. He gives life to Varic Maedoc like I don’t think anyone else could. His voice is cultures and smooth as honey. His voice has a rich cadence that draws you in.

I can’t say enough good things about both the story writing and the narration, both are amazing. I’ve already read almost everything by Mary Calmes, I will definitely be looking up more work by Scott Smith.

I love a good fated mates tale. This one was good, it had a little bit of everything: heartbreak, instant connection, intrigue, and a cute baby. Together Winter and Creed forge ahead with a life neither one planned for, but that the universe saw fit for them to have. As they learn more about each other and parenthood the sparks start to fly. When Creed starts to get suspicious about how Richard and Caroline died, the author takes you on a little detour that I didn’t necessarily see coming. The secondary story line of suspense and intrigue was just enough to keep the story fresh and interesting without overpowering the primary romantic story line.

Overall, a great story. I can’t wait for the next one in the series.

Giovanna (Gia) Reaves is the alter ego for a dreamer. A dreamer who spends her days and nights creating worlds from her imagination. Being an avid reader, allowed Gia’s imagination to take hold. With the encouragement of her loved ones, Gia has given in to the voices in her head, putting their words and wolds to paper. Gia is also a mother, wife, and veteran. Gia is also a serious chocoholic and loves to read MM Romance just as much as she loves writing them. The sweeter the better, especially, on a snowy or rainy day is how she likes to fill her days when she is not writing.

My Anti-Valentine Collection by DJ Jamison: New Release Review

February 27, 2019 by Denise

THE MY ANTI-VALENTINE COLLECTION

My Anti-Valentine: Jaded by relationships gone wrong, Bret throws an anti-Valentine’s Day party to celebrate being single and burn his ex-boyfriends’ belongings. Bret’s low interest in sex has destroyed every relationship he’s had and tarnished his view of romance, but a cute blond guy at the party who says all the wrong things inspires him to hope for more.

My Anti-Boyfriend: Brad has everyone fooled. He’s the casual, sexy friend. The fun-time guy who sleeps around. Except not really. There’s one man who holds his heart: his best friend — with benefits — Riley. Too bad Riley has no interest in a relationship, and as far as Brad can tell, never will. But once Brad acknowledges his feelings for Riley, he can’t continue to ignore them. iley’s days of having his cake and eating it too are over. Then again, maybe Brad is tasty enough to keep a man satisfied.

My Anti-Marriage: Love has never been a good bet for Chris, so going on a Vegas wedding trip for his friends is bittersweet. Especially when Ant, the last man to break his trust, is suddenly along for the ride. Which explains why Chris wakes up in his hotel room with the mother of all hangovers. Not so much why Ant is in his bed … or worse, wearing a matching wedding band.

Amazon – Kindle Unlimited

This collection of stories came to me at a perfect time in my life! I can totally relate to the anti-valentine theme. Each one has a unique story that is entertaining and at time hilarious, there is something for everyone. This collection provides an Asexual that has sworn off of love and relationships, best friends to lovers, and exes reunited.

The stories were well written with well developed characters and an entertaining plot. This was the first time I have read anything from DJ Jamison, but it definitely won’t be the last.

Love this story!

This story has it all: a little bit of kink, a little bit of drama, one hell of a good story. The characters are well developed with great backstory. Even the secondary characters were entertaining. The story is believable and thoroughly enjoyable.

Once I picked this one up I couldn’t put it down which is why Sean Michael has become one of my favorite authors.

Sweet Vengeance (Sins of the Father book 2) by Riley HartMy review! 4 1/2 pieces of eye candy!I loved the first book and the characters. Even though they were all morally gray. Except for Ollie, Dean's roommate. He's the opposite of them. He is studying to be a lawyer. But Cillian has had an eye on him. Cillian has always accepted that good sex is good sex and if it happens with another man, no problem. So when we get the "only one bed" thing after Ollie is hurt- you know things will happen. Now this could have been tough because Cillian and his BFF Rory usually do threesomes with a girl between them. No sexual contact between them, but they love sharing a woman. It's like their thing. They love each other platonically, but they also love that intimacy. So how would that play out with Ollie? And I have to say, it was done well. Really well. It lead to one of THE hottest sex scenes I've ever read. But at the same time it wasn't raunchy or gratuitous. It was...perfect.If you've read book 1 (READ BOOK ONE!) you'll be pleased to see Tiernan and Dean together. And Aslin still finding her footing as a single woman in college away from prying parental eyes. Are they still the bad guys? Yup Do we still love them? Also yup! Cillian has met his match in Ollie and I am here for it! ... See MoreSee Less

Meet Riley Hart:Riley Hart’s love of all things romance shines brightly in everything she writes. Her primary focus isMale/Male romance but under various pen names, her prose has touched practically every part of thespectrum of love and relationships. The common theme that ties them all together is stories told fromthe heart.A hopeless romantic herself, Riley is a lover of character-driven plots, many with flawed and relatablecharacters. She strives to create stories that readers can not only fall in love with, but also seethemselves in. Real characters and real love blended together equal the ultimate Riley Hart experience. When Riley isn’t creating her next story, you can find her reading, traveling, or dreaming about readingor traveling, and spending time with her two perfectly snarky kids, and one swoon-inducing husband.Connect with Riley Hart:www.instagram.com/rileyhartwrites/Blurb:CillianI can’t figure out why I’m so intrigued by Ollie Gibson. He’s nothing like me—soft where my world is hard, sweet and kind while I’ve grown up aroundviolence. But there’s a fire to him that sparks the one inside me, loyalty that calls to me, and bravery Irespect even if it gets him in trouble. When Ollie’s hurt and we don’t know if the men who attacked him will come back for more, Ican’t stop myself from claiming him. There’s nothing I won’t do to protect him, even go behindhis back for vengeance.I crave him—both the sweetness and the fire, the innocence and the dirty boy he turns intounder my touch.I’ll kill for him, turn my world upside down for him, share my pain and secrets with him. Olliehelps me deal with it all—even the drama with my father. It’s supposed to be temporary. I’m not supposed to want more, but I’m determined to keep him,and for a reason I can’t understand, Ollie wants me too.The future lawyer and the criminal. The Good Samaritan and the killer. ✨EXCERPT: SWEET VENGEANCE by @rileyhartwrites releasing October 8th! #PreOrderNowgeni.us/SweetVengeanceAs soon as they leave, closing the door behind them, Cillian pulls the chair up to my bedside. “You need pain meds? I can get the nurse in here to give you some. You really should get some rest. Those fucking pigs shouldn’t have bothered you.”“Don’t do that. Don’t pretend to be nice. Don’t pretend you’re not exactly like the people who hurt me tonight.”The smile slides off his face. Cillian pushes his hands into his slacks. What even is that? Why does he dress like that all the time? His voice is steady, unemotional when he says, “I don’t pretend to be anything other than what I am. I know I’m not the hero. And I might be the bad guy, but I sure as shit am nothing like those motherfuckers who hurt you tonight. Three on one? Those fucking pussies don’t belong in the same universe as we do.”“Because you wouldn’t attack an old man? That makes you better?”“I never said I was better. I told you, I know who I am. Get some fucking sleep, Kitten. You look like shit.”I feel like it, but still, I flip him off. “Don’t call me that.”“Why? It’s what you are. Rory said you’re our brave little bunny, but you’re not. You’ve got some sharp claws, and you know how to use them. It’s my favorite thing about you.” And then he winks, and damned if heat doesn’t flush to my groin.I don’t want him, I don’t want him, I don’t want him. He’s supposed to be everything I hate in this world. He stands for everything I hate…yet I can’t hate him.“I’m not your anything,” I say.He shrugs. “Whatever you say, Kitten.”I don’t have the energy to argue with him, and luckily, the nurse comes in, ready to medicate me, as if she obeys everything Cillian says too…and she didn’t even have to hear him say it to know he wanted her to do it.#rileyhart #mmromance #kindleunlimited #bookstagram #booktok The Author Agency ... Two Chicks Obsessed with Books and Eye Candy
Nothing Special IX: Fire and Smoke by AE ViaLet's call it 4 1/2 stars. This book had everything! God and Day being God and Day, the expansion of a story line from a short story which brings us a new couple, checking in on all of the other couples we've cheered for over the years and...Vasquez. *Angry eyes*With everything above, there were several story lines within the main plot. Which was, of course, to get the bad guys. But we also get Wes and Law, childhood friends who became Hollywood pyrotechnics specialists and a couple; God and Day who, dare I say, stumble a bit in their relationship; Vasquez who still wants revenge and a task force that thinks it is indestructible.I loved bringing in Wes and Law to God's team. Zero police experience. Just two guys who like creating fire, smoke, fireworks and explosions for Hollywood movies. But God sees how they could really be an asset. Their "training" is not much more than "don't die", but what they bring to the table is something new and valuable.I gasped out loud when trouble was brewing with God and Day. Don't mess with my boys! And if Ms Via makes me like Ramon Vasquez....The ending was so perfect. Even if she never wrote these characters again, I would be satisfied about their endings. But we are not seeing the last of them. Thank goodness. ... See MoreSee Less
