paula review

This book was a happy/sad book for me. Happy because its always a pleasure to get more of Cole and Jae. Sad because this is the end of this series. I have loved these two characters since the very beginning. Rhys did an amazing job with this book. The way it resolves everything is so good. I like how we get to see these two characters continue to grow and change. We get to see their relationship become more secure. I think Rhys gave this series the perfect ending.

Reg, a biker who customizes motorcycles, is a big man with a heart of gold who was rejected by most of his family. Arik is initially afraid of Reg because of his size. However it’s Reg’s heart that warms Arik’s interest and gets him to look past the exterior to let down his guard.

But Arik soon realizes that certain members of Reg’s motorcycle club are into things he can’t have any part of. Reg can’t understand why Arik disappears until he learns Arik’s injury was the result of his father’s drug activity. Though neither Reg nor Arik wants anything to do with drugs, the new leadership of Reg’s club might have other ideas.

Thank you to Andrew for joining us with a Guest Post!

When I was developing this final story for the Senses series, I wanted to return to the world of Ken and Patrick, but I didn’t want to return to them directly. They had already had their happy ending and I didn’t want to revisit that. So Arik was born. He’s an artist who has been injured. Before his accident, he entered a contest and won an internship of sorts with Ken. He hesitantly accepts his prize, believing that his accent has also claimed his talent. Arik of course receives help form Ken, but more importantly, he meets Reg, a garage owner who’s everything Arik fears.

Reg is large, bald, and intimidating and Arik reacts with pure fear the first time he meets him. But Arik is more than just his size and intimidating package. He’s an artist of sorts himself and he has a heart as big as his body. The big man with a heart of gold is a character type I have written before and it’s one I love. With many of us, our exteriors say one thing, but it isn’t until we learn what’s inside that we truly know a person.   This story is very much about two people who must learn to look inside themselves and be willing to look deeply into others in order to find happiness.

paula review
Another great book by Andrew Grey. I absolutely adored Arik and Reg. My heart went out to Arik and what he had suffered in his past. His belief that he can’t do what he loves to do because of his injury and the feelings he shows really made me feel for him and connect with him. I thought that Reg was a great counterpart to him. His attitude and personality was so endearing to me. I thought Andrew did a wonderfull job keeping the story moving and entertaining.

I have read a lot of Andrew Grey’s books but this was the first of the Senses Series that I have read.

This is the story of injured artist, Arik who is invited to paint with famous artist Ken Brighton. Despite the injury he goes to at least meet the painter. While there studying with Ken to overcome his injury and learn to create with different methods he meets Ken’s friend Reg, the local mechanic and gas station owner.

Arik is a broken man, just recovered from his injury and scared of his own shadow. Over time he becomes comfortable with Reg who is a much larger man than him. Arik and Reg start spending time together when Reg introduces him to his friends from the biker club. Arik, having grown up with junkies as parents instantly knows what some members of the club are doing and breaks it off with Reg. Not willing to lose Arik, Reg cuts ties with the biker club but that presents a whole new set of problems for Reg.

Arik will need to let go of a hurtful past before he can envision a future with Reg. Will Reg sit by and wait for Arik to come to his senses?

I enjoyed this book. Arik was pretty broken and sometime care across as whiny but by the end of the book I was fully invested. The story had good build up, there weren’t any plot holes and it was a great HEA. A solid three star read.

excerpt

“Arik, I’m glad you made it.” He set his palette aside and walked toward Arik, extending his hand. Arik hesitated, then pulled his right hand out of his pocket. He could tell instantly when Mr. Brighton noticed. He looked into Arik’s eyes, meeting his gaze straight on. That alone was different. So was the gentle, yet firm, way Ken gripped his damaged hand. “It’s good to meet you.”

Arik looked away. “I should explain. I really wanted to meet you, but I thought about calling to cancel because—” He looked down at his hand. “Well, I’m not an artist any longer. I was so thrilled when you called, and I wanted to meet you so badly, but… I probably shouldn’t waste your time.”

“Slow down. And please call me Ken.” He reached over, grabbed a stool, and moved it closer, motioning for him to sit. “Let’s take things one at a time. This is my partner, Patrick,” Ken said, and Arik extended his hand. Patrick nodded and shook it. “He isn’t able to speak because of an accident, but he’s very adept at other forms of communication.”

“It’s nice to meet you,” Arik said, and Patrick smiled, his eyes warming even more. Patrick lightly patted Arik’s hand and then released it. Patrick then left the room, closing the studio door. “Like I said, I shouldn’t have come and wasted your time.”

Ken didn’t say anything, just walked to the corner of his studio and returned with a painting that Arik instantly recognized as his contest entry. “All of the entries were sold at a charity auction, and yours was the only one I bought. It spoke to me in a way that went right to my heart. I had to have it.”

“I did that a year ago….” He looked down at his hand and slid it back into his pocket. He hated seeing it.

“Your work is gorgeous and shows great talent,” Ken said.

“Well, it shows what I once had.”

Ken continued looking at the painting.

“That was my grandmother’s home,” Arik said. “The contest guidelines were for us to paint a memory. I chose a time when I was happiest. My grandmother had a house on the lake in Muskegon. There was a swing in the backyard under a tree, and she and I used to sit in it and she read me stories.”

“She must have been a gardener.”

Arik nodded. “She loved flowers and even bred roses. The purple ones and the orange ones in the picture are ones she bred herself. She loved the color, but I think she was after scent more than anything. I remember her always smelling like roses. They were her passion.”

“You didn’t put her in the picture,” Ken remarked.

Arik smiled. “She’s there.” He pointed to the row of color that disappeared along the side of the house. “She’s in those flowers. She told me once that after she was gone, she’d live on as long as someone grew her flowers.”

denise reviewHow could anyone go wrong with this book? A Texas cowboy, a hot Australian and a very small baby. All these things in one book, along with a heap of romance gives you exactly what you are looking for in this still in its infancy series, Dreamspun Desires.

I haven’t read anything from BA Tortuga before, but I really like the author’s style. Quirky, funny, with characters that have heart, convictions and integrity. This baby that became a warden of Lachlan, became a bit of a rope for people to pull at while trying to decide who should have access to her. In the essence of old school Harlequin novels, you get your HEA, and the baby is loved by one and all.

There is no shortage of hotness and action in this novel, Lach and Holden find that connection that can make a sweet baby happy, and the readers, just as happy.

Cowboys are my new obsession and I was so excited to read this after reading the blurb. Than you add in a baby and I was ready to devour what I thought was going to be a sweet, calm romance.   Holy Hannah – I was not prepared for all the action that took place.

Lach & Holden were a delicious treat and sweet little Chloe was a fantastic bonus. Tortuga did a superior job at keeping your attention. I mean….My damn heart was racing through out 90% of the book. I take pleasure in reading books where it reads like a movie. In this case – Trial by Fire would be one of those action pack movies where everything that could go wrong did go wrong, the good guys end up coming out on top with little to no help from anyone. It was as if Holden had super hero powers and it totally worked for this story. I completely loved the thrilling aspect of this.

Fantastic job – I look forward to reading more work by Tortuga.   I was entertained to say the least and had a silly grin on my face when I was finished.

Coffee

Coffee coffee coffee. Everyone shut up. Coffee.

Have y’all seen that meme? It’s called a morning poem. Yeah. I’m like that morning, noon and night. No, you don’t want to see me without it.

Hot coffee in the winter. Iced in spring, summer and fall. Sugar and almond milk creamer. On Sundays the wife and I go down to Café Bella, our local coffee shop, and get a white chocolate cinnamon latte with almond milk and half flavoring. Then we sit and meet about the week’s goals and play with washi tape.

I think a lot of times what I write influences my choice of coffee. Recently I wrote about New Mexico in a couple of novels, and I drank a lot of pinyon coffee and Mexican chocolate flavors. Normally my brew is kona.

For Trial by Fire, I tried to channel my inner Aussie for Lachlan and drink tea. I’m an iced tea girl. Growing up, hot tea was for when I was sick. I tried caramel, apple cinnamon, white chocolate peppermint…

Yeah, and then I would channel Holden and have a big, hot cup of strong coffee. I’m an addict, what can I say?

Sometimes I head down to this little whole foods Indian place for a caramel latte. Then there’s the local chain, Satellite Coffee, who do a fiery Mexican cinnamon latte. Starbucks? Gimme a venti iced coffee with natural sugar. Woo. I save that for when I’m traveling, because I try hard to buy local, but still.

Let’s face it. I need fuel, and coffee works for me. I had a sad six months or so where I only got one cup a day, and I was depressed. Now I’m back to having what I want, which is about 3 cups a day, and I’m pretty darned happy.

I do love my coffee, and if it keeps me upright and writing that’s a good thing, yeah? So, if you really want to know the way to my heart, buy me a coffee next time we see each other.

Much love, y’all,

BA

Beyond the Sea by Keira Andrews : Release Day Review

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00070]synopsisTwo straight guys. One desert island.

Even if it means quitting their boy band mid-tour, Troy Tanner isn’t going to watch his little brother snort his future away after addiction destroyed their father. On a private jet taking him home from Australia, he and pilot Brian Sinclair soar above the vast South Pacific. Brian lost his passion for flying—and joy in life—after a traumatic crash, but now he and Troy must fight to survive when a cyclone strikes without warning.

When the days turn into weeks with no sign of rescue, Troy and Brian grow closer, and friendship deepens into desire.

As they learn sexuality is about more than straight or gay and discover their true selves, the world they’ve built together is thrown into chaos. If Troy and Brian make it off the island, can their love endure?

morgan review

I love everything I have ever read by Keira Andrews. I have yet to find a book I didn’t fall head over heels for.

Beyond the Sea was no different. I enjoyed seeing every aspect of the story play out with amazing detail. The scenes were set perfectly and described so well it was like watching a movie. Everything about the story was believable and it flowed really well.

I like how it wasn’t Insta love. The MC’s went from strangers, to friends, to something more and we get to see how everything develops step by step. The slow build of attraction between Brian and Troy makes the sex so much hotter in my opinion. When they finally act on their feelings it’s just WOW. These two have amazing chemistry and the bond they form after going through so much together is so special. It was actually bittersweet for me when they got rescued. I wasn’t sure how either of them would react when they were thrown back into the real world, but I loved how it worked out.

I definitely recommend checking out Beyond the Sea. This is a for sure reread for me and 5 pieces of eye candy!!

Broken-1800x2700

synopsis

Until he meets James Holden, CEO of Holden House.

Just a little fun – that’s what James tells himself. He can’t afford to care for someone who can never reciprocate, not once they find out who he really is. James believes nobody deserves the burden of being attached to him. He’s a complicated man. Damaged. Difficult. Demanding.

Broken.

Is Theodore strong enough to confront James’ demons? More importantly, is James?

deanna review

I have read a few of Nicola Haken’s books, so I am familiar with her writing, but that in no way prepared me for Broken.

James Holden, CEO of Holden House is a difficult and demanding, but most of all he is broken. After a bathroom hook-up in a bar with Theodore Davenport he can’t seem to get him out of his mind. James can’t afford the distraction, work at his publishing house is busier that ever and personally he can’t let himself get involved with someone who will just leave when they find out how broken he is. When he discovers Theodore is new employee to Holden House he keeps finding reasons spend time with him telling himself it’s not serious, just a bit of fun.

Theodore wants his success at Holden House to be of his own merit, not because he is sleeping with the boss. Add to that, he doesn’t usually have sex while not in a relationship. When all James has to offer is sex Theodore needs to make him see that they could be so much more. Once James comes clean about himself Theodore needs to decide if he can be strong enough for the both of them.

In the aftermath of James’ downward spiral Theodore realizes just how strong a love like theirs really is and just how far he will go to make James see it.

Where do I even begin, this book is amazing. I am in awe, Nicola made me feel every emotion Theodore and James felt. When James was at his lowest, I sobbed. When Theodore was trying to be strong for them both I felt his resolve. I cheered when they were happy and cried more happy tears that I care to admit to.

This is not a fluffy, cute romance. This a realistic, this could happen to you story and I loved every second of it. This story gives hope to people struggling with mental illness and the people that love them.

I read this book a few days and I can’t get it out of my head. This quote keeps running through my head.

“When you’re living with mental illness, there is no happily ever after, like the kind we write about every day. Instead, we look forward to future days spent basking in the most dazzling light, followed by ones drowning in the deepest depths of darkness. There is only one constant, one guarantee, no matter which day we face. Love. A love so powerful it will carry us through. We will survive. Together.”

For me, this may be the greatest love story I have read. It’s gritty and raw and real.

synopsis

What Austin Lloyd lacks in academics, he makes up for in his love of the animals who frequent his pet salon. He’s not lucky in romance, though, and his family would like him to settle down with a good man. Austin—and his golden retriever, Maggie—couldn’t agree more.

Evan Partridge isn’t good at letting people in. His messy family life and the past that’s shaped him aren’t worth bringing up. But his pug, Dexter, sure likes the pet salon owner.

Austin and Evan get off to a rough start, but being friends soon turns into something more. Unfortunately, Evan’s secretive behavior nearly does the relationship in, and the budding love affair almost crashes and burns when Evan’s troubled sister shows up on his doorstep.

Not speaking to each other is killing them both, but Evan doesn’t know how to keep Austin and help his sister at the same time. He just knows he has to try. Winning back Austin’s trust back, however, is going to take a whole lot of work.

denise review

I was definitely excited to read this book by M.J. O’Shea, when I saw it up on DSP. Put two men falling in love and animals in the same book, and I am SO THERE! And there was a lot to love in this book, for sure.

The characters were well drawn, both with their own issues to deal with, making it a challenge to find their way to each other, and stay connected. It was about 65% into the book when they finally agreed to date and kissed, so definitely a slow burn. If you like a book that is a slow burn, this is definitely for you! The men, and the dogs both connected well, and were able to move past insecurities to get to their dating stage.

Before Evan’s sister found her way to his house. She presented as a very unlikable character, which in many ways is a shame, because Evan obviously loved her, and wanted her in his life. Your hope would be that Evan and Austin could find their HEA together, and have his sister come right along with them. Unfortunately, there was no way that was happening, and I could see her being an issue for these two men in the future as well, which could make for a great follow up story. Maybe a Christmas one about forgiveness and acceptance? Not that I am hinting at all. 🙂

I would definitely like to see how these men are able to keep their relationship on course through rocky times, as I felt that they had a solid beginning, once Evan was able to get out of his own way. And a great love story that sat in the background of this book? Maggie and Dexter. 🙂

Favorite quotes about reading

Before anything, writers are readers. Most of us grew up reading book after book (I know I did!!) and it’s still a huge part of our every day lives. I’ve collected a few favorite quotes about reading over the years and here they are!

“A book is a dream you hold in your hands.” – Neil Gaiman

First of all, I love that this comes from Neil Gaiman, the master of creating dreamworlds and universes on the other side of the wall. But I love that idea, that people can get lost in the book and create their own dreams.

“Never trust anyone who has not brought a book with them” – Lemony Snicket

I mostly just think this is funnyJ But I can’t tell you how many times you’d open my handbag and find a book (or two) inside.

“Knowing you have something good to read before bed is among the most pleasurable of sensations.” – Vladimir Nabokov

Who has spent the whole day thinking about getting home to finish their book before bed? I would go with pretty much everyone J I think we can all relate to this.

“You can’t get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me. “ C.S. Lewis

And this right here? This is me J One extra huge earl grey and a long book and I’m a happy, happy girl!

Thanks for having me stop by!! You can read a bit about my new book below, or click on the link which will take you to an excerpt. I’ve also put all my social media links. I’m always available for a chat.

Same routine. Same quiet moment before the sirens start. And the same beautiful stranger. We see each other almost every day—two men passing in the early hours, never speaking. Until one morning, we finally do.Reid is kind, easy to talk to, and someone who would never be interested in me, at least not in the way I want him to.Then the call comes in.A wreck in town. One patient critical. It’s Reid.I save his life—but the accident steals ten years of his memories.Reid doesn’t remember his past, his job, or the man he was before the crash. It's the only reason I agreed to a collab with a guy who's brand new to the industry...and fifteen years younger than me.I've been doing this a long time, and I've worked with a lot of guys, but I didn't expect the actual ray of sunshine that turned up on my doorstep. Riley is everything I'm not: young, self-assured, green. I've always been alone, because it's easy to avoid hurt if there's no one around to disappoint you. But one collab with Riley has me wanting to open up my life to him...and maybe even my heart. The Resilience of Stars is a fast burn spice, slow burn love MM romance between two unconventional coworkers with a guaranteed happily ever after.#newbookalert #xarakenley #mmromance The Author Agency ... ✨Did you see?✨DIRTY LITTLE SECRET by @rileyhartwrites is available NOW! Grab it in KU! #OneClickNowgeni.us/DirtyLittleSecretHart Why you need to #ONECLICK this book…🔥BDSM🔥Secret Relationship 🔥Student/Professor 🔥Age Gap (28/40)🔥Younger Dom/Older sub 🔥Opposites Attract 🔥Custody of surprise siblings JamesI’m forty years old, a tenured professor with investments, property, and a 401k. But what I crave is to submit. To hand over control to Colton. We met on an app. His needs matched mine. It was only supposed to be once, then twice. No commitment, so I don’t feel bad cutting contact. Then my world implodes when I get custody of siblings I didn’t know I have. Everything would have been fine, I would have survived on my own, if not for Sir, my hookup, walking through the doors of my classroom. He’s over a decade younger than me, and now I’m his professor, yet Sir is giving me schedules I need and caretaking from a distance. I know I should stay away, but I can’t. No matter what he gives me, I want more. Colton I’m twenty-eight years old, starting my first semester as a transfer student at a local university, finally following my dreams. And then I see him, the sub I haven’t stopped thinking about, the one who comes undone for me in ways I’ve never experienced before. He makes all my Dominant instincts flare to life. I’ve always loved caretaking, but James makes me need it on a bone-deep level. It’s not long before he’s on his knees for me again, surrendering in ways we both crave. He’s forbidden, my professor, my good boy, and I’m his Sir…his dirty little secret. But it’s not enough. I want it all from him, if only he’ll let me have it. #rileyhart #newbookalert #kindleunlimited The Author Agency ... See MoreSee Less

✨Did you see?✨THE ULTIMATE SAVE by @felicestevens is available NOW! Grab it in KU! #OneClickNowgeni.us/TheUltimateSaveWhy you need to #ONECLICK this book…🏒MM Hockey: goalie & the news anchor📰Enemies to Lovers🏒Hurt/comfort📰Slow burn🏒The chaos agent and the stuffed shirt📰Circle of friends🏒Hate to want you📰Secrets and liesDenisI’m the best goalie in the league.Just ask me.Yes, I have an ego the size of NYC. Maybe that’s why I’ve crashed and burned all my relationships. Love, like a hockey game, is a competition. And once I win, I’m ready for the next game, the next man.Until I meet him. Sterling Forest. The arrogant, obnoxious news anchor who calls hockey players thugs on ice. He tempts me…intrigues me. Makes me want to kiss that scowl off his lips. I want him to burn for me.Instead Sterling is the one to set my heart on fire.SterlingI know nothing about hockey, and I’m happy to keep it that way. I’ve apologized for my remarks, but the insufferable Denis Bouvier isn’t satisfied. I even do the unthinkable and attend a hockey game. Okay, maybe it is more than brute force. But I can’t tell him he’s right. Now he’s everywhere I go, and I hate that he fascinates me. I can’t escape his larger-than-life presence, and that sexy French accent. The more I push him away, the closer he pulls me in.And I’m afraid to admit I don’t want to let him go.We’ve spent years running away from broken families and broken promises. But when life explodes around us, we’re running toward each other. And now that the unthinkable has happened, we need to find trust in each other and what our hearts are saying: love is the one thing that ultimately can save us.🏒Start with The Ultimate Goal, available in KU, now: getbook.at/UltimateGoal #newbookalert #felicestevens #mmromance The Author Agency ... ✨Did you see?✨STICK AROUND by @authoremlindsey is available NOW! Grab it in KU! #OneClickNowmybook.to/lafstickaround Why you need to #ONECLICK this book…🔥Enemies to Lovers🔥Found Family🔥Hockey bro banter🔥Age-Gap🔥Enemies with Benefits🔥Disability Rep🔥Praise Kink🔥Hurt/Comfort🔥MM Romance"Would you slap a teammate for twenty-five grand?""Uh, yeah. There are a few I'd slap for free. Just point me in the right direction."Problem number one: My personal life is falling apart.Problem number two: My public life is also on thin freaking ice.Problem number three: The ridiculously hot NHL D-man with the inability to remove his head from his ass has decided I’m his number one target. And that last one is a bit of an issue since his idea of targeting me is to have absurdly hot hate-hookups with me in the locker room. Which I don’t necessarily mind…Except there’s one tiny snag in his plan: I don’t like guys.Or, well, I didn’t think I liked guys. But when Alexio Zeki drops to his knees and, uh, gets to business, I realize my very narrow view of my own sexuality needs some adjustment. And that’s ironic coming from a blind man.Admitting I’m bisexual is the easy part.Admitting I’m kind of, sort of, ridiculously into the man I claimed to hate is something else entirely. But the more he insists that I’m worth keeping, the more I start wanting to believe him.Stick Around is the first book in the Punk as Puck spin-off series, Legends and Fury. It’s a high heat, enemies to lovers rom-com with a snarky NHL goalie who has a lot of big opinions and doesn’t care if they’re unsolicited, a PPHL goalie with a mountain of problems and no way to reach the top, locker room hookups, praise, swoony romance, a low-stakes bi-awakening, hockey bro banter, tons of chirping, and the swooniest happily ever after.#newbookalert #emlindsey #mmromance The Author Agency ...
